Template:Contains Korean text Air Busan Co., Ltd., operating as Air Busan (Korean: 에어부산; RR: E-eo Busan) is a regional airline based in Busanjin-gu, Busan, Republic of Korea.[1] It is a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines. The airline began its operation in 2007 as Busan International Airlines Company (Korean: 부산국제항공; RR: Busan Gukje Hanggong); it launched service on October 2008.[2]

Upon the launch of its Seoul–Busan route, Air Busan filled 49.7 percent of its seats, while its competitor on the same route, Korean Air had 61.2 percent. About five months later in March 2009, however, Air Busan's boarding rate exceeded that of its competitor, 54.7 percent to 54.1 percent. For the Busan-Jeju route, Air Busan is also taking the lead, filling 77.7 percent of its seats. The airline has code-share operation with its parent company Asiana for the 4 routes.

2007

  • July—Launched the committee to establish Busan International Airlines Co., Ltd.
  • August—Established Busan International Airlines Co., Ltd.

2008

  • February—Changed the corporate name to Air Busan Co., Ltd.
    • Signed the investment agreement with the city of Busan and Asiana Airlines
  • April—Signed the agreement to purchase aircraft (5 B737s)
  • May—The city of Busan decided to be the shareholder of Air Busan
    • The first recruitment of new and experienced staff
  • June—Acquired a license for regular air transportation
  • August—The second recruitment of new and experienced staff
  • October—Opened the reservation center and the homepage
    • Established branches at Gimpo airport and Jeju international airport;
    • Took delivery of its 2nd B737-500 aircraft
    • Began flight between Busan and Gimpo
  • November—Took delivery of its 3rd B737-500 aircraft

2009

  • February—The third recruitment of new and experienced staff
  • March—Signed the business agreement with Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education

  • April—Signed the business agreement with Busan I’Park

  • June—Expanded flights between Busan-Jeju to 20 per day

  • August—Signed the business agreement with Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry

  • November—Received the Best Service Innovation Award, presented by the Korea Management Association (KMA)

2010

  • February—Took delivery of its B737-400 aircraft
