new article duplicating this one

[edit]

FYI 2018 European heat wave was created today and seems to cover the same topic. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 16:10, 31 July 2018 (UTC) Nevermind, creator/sole editor at other article redirected it here. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 16:20, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Move to 2018 European heat wave

[edit]

Imho, move the page to 2018 European heat wave, since that is usually the naming we used in past heat waves, ie. 2003 European heat wave, and drought usually comes with heat waves. prokaryotes (talk) 16:26, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nuclear reactor shutdown

[edit]

There's a common misconception in the media, that nuclear reactors have to shut down because of increased river temperatures, making the water too warm for their cooling systems. This is incorrect, as the cooling system can still work just fine even when the incoming water is at a higher temperature than usual. The problem is, that the water flowing back to the river can overheat the river causing damage to the local ecology. This is an important distinction, as the original formulation seems to indicate a vulnerability for nuclear power plants (feeding the anti-nuclear agenda), which is certainly not the case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.20.241.226 (talk) 08:05, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong focus

[edit]

It makes little sense to organize this by country. It's a climate phenomenon, not a soccer match. A table of contents that consists of 20 little national flags is entirely distracting from the real story. 62.167.47.56 (talk) 10:15, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
