Werner-Seelenbinder Memorial

The 1985 13th Werner-Seelenbinder Memorial tournament was held on September 2Oth-22nd, traditionally now at the old Baltic seaport of Griefswald, known as a stronghold of Badminton in the GDR, and had representative entries of 34 men and 22 lady players from Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Soviet Union and the German Democratic Republic.

The 1988 16th Werner-Seelenbinder Memorial, an annual invitation tournament of the COMECON countries, organised by the Badminton Association of the G.D.R., was held in Berlin on the 17 and 18 September . All the countries of East Europe, except Roumania, were duly represented and a contingent of players from North Korea gave the tournament additional interest.
