Composer Emanuel Leplin

Hello again from your friend at Commons! I am so appreciative of the times you have helped when issues have popped up due to photographs. We have that again here with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emanuel_Leplin . Some of the following information is from Commons discussions about the pictures. The article was written by a son of the composer who also uploaded images. It's bannered with a very correct "too close to subject" header, but the citations are lengthy and valid. I am hoping that there is a process by which this article can be reviewed and that header removed. I acknowledge I don't do enough high-level en:wiki editing any more to confidently undertake this, and I looked for perhaps a working group, and then I realized that he was a composer - and thought of you. Again, thank you for all your help with Wikipedia and particularly the issues I bring you. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:14, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure I can check into this some time today. Binksternet (talk) 16:26, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

The reason why I removed that paragraph is because it is already stated below in another section. BAPreme (T | C) 11:13, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Can I borrow some notability-fu, music subsection?

Four Year Strong is now listed as Notable people from Wormtown. That looks a little...I dunno, overeaching? On the other hand, the whole section seems to be full of also-rans, Robert Goddard is the only pukka notable among them, and I can easily think of as many people who are far more notable. I see the sourcing, but it doesn't mean as much to me as maybe it should. Anmccaff (talk) 01:49, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

The bar is fairly low for lists of this sort. I'm pretty sure the guideline at WP:LISTPEOPLE addresses the issue. Generally, you only need a Wikipedia page about you and you can be listed at articles where you have some relevance. Binksternet (talk) 03:54, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
that looks to me like if the section were filled with everyone meeting the same level of notabilty, it'd have at least a thousand people. Just unning through the major colleges I've prolly broke a hundred, and I'm not through...and those are just the live ones. But, say, when you are talking popular music, and Four Year Strong is listed, and the J. Geils Band ain't, that sends up a signal, even if he is dead now. Anmccaff (talk) 04:15, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Editors who are interested in list articles such as List of people from Worcester, Massachusetts, may choose a tighter inclusion criteria. For instance, because of local consensus, List of people from New York City is not supposed to include people who moved there from somewhere else, while List of people from Pittsburgh includes anybody who lived there for a significant time. Perhaps the folks interested in Worcester can start a discussion about inclusion criteria. Binksternet (talk) 04:42, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Well, I'd've expect the short list in the Worcester article to be tighter still, listing only very prominent people with a strong association, , and these guys like many of the others, just don't seem to have that prominence. Either that, or I'm completely out of touch with the music, which is quite likely. Anmccaff (talk) 04:58, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Tabla

Hi, just wanted to let you know that since 2012 an IP user from Hartford, CT, has been adding references to bongos on the tabla article despite being repeatedly reverted (since bongos and tabla are not similar or related). He generally reverts again within 24 h. Is there anything that could be done? Protecting the page maybe? Let me know what you think, thanks. Neodop (talk) 10:47, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

This guy also disrupts the bongo article in the same way, adding his unreferenced original research, which is wrong. Perhaps a rangeblock on Special:Contributions/2602:252:D27:DA20:0:0:0:0/64 might help, although other IPs such as Special:Contributions/155.43.77.85 have been involved. In any case, I'll keep track along with you so we can keep down the nonsense. Binksternet (talk) 16:17, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello Bink, you may be interested to know that the above has recently been making the same unsourced edits again under the following IP's 86.174.164.157 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and recently 86.174.165.34 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). They have now reached 3RR on the Richard Farnsworth article. I have therefore reported them to the incidents page. Thought you would like to know, as you have previously been involved. Regards, David J Johnson (talk) 20:58, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for the note. I'll keep an eye out. Binksternet (talk) 22:18, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Can we civilly discuss your issue with proto-metal? I don't think I "misunderstood" the sources, as one of the sources I provided listed it as a subgenre, as well as another one stating it is lo-fi and amateur compared to heavy metal and hard rock, and one saying that it was influenced by psychedelic rock. Proto-punk has it's own page with sources, even though it is very similar to garage rock stylistically, but has a different feel. This is the same case with proto-metal, sounds similar to hard rock and heavy metal, but has it's share of stylistic differences. Bands like Deep Purple, The Zoot, and Iron Claw are stylistically different from heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Feel free to share your thoughts. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 23:21, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Civil, sure. I read all the sources you provided and none of them say what you think they say. So it's hard to have a conversation about that. Binksternet (talk) 23:24, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
I truly don't see what you mean. I read the sources, they don't say anything about it just being hard rock except one, which I can admit that source was faulty. But all of the other ones that I read only describe it as it's own thing. Psychedelic rock and blues rock fused to make amateur, heavy, and distorted rock music. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 23:28, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
This discussion should take place at Talk:Heavy metal music where it is already underway. Binksternet (talk) 23:40, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
Alright, I'll post my comments from your talk page on there. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 23:43, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Talk:The Center for Medical Progress sanctions notice

I was a bit surprised to see the sanctions notice commented out (you removed the commenting [1] here), so I went back through the history expecting to find an IP editor surreptitiously commenting it out, but I think it's even simpler than that. The headers were originally added [2] here and the notice was commented out when it was added, possibly to have it easily available if needed but not at first. I'm not familiar enough with the sanctions process to know if it takes an admin to formally put something under sanctions or if anyone can. I think that the article *should* have the notice, the past disruption is easily enough and the recent push should absolutely be enough. Not sure though. Ravensfire (talk) 21:12, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

I did the same thing you did, after I "restored" the sanctions notice. Like you, I found that the commented-out sanctions notice was added in that form in the first few edits by an editor in good standing.
Anyone can add the sanctions notice to an article which contains issues falling within the abortion topic. Such articles are already covered by the sanctions, but the template makes it explicit. Binksternet (talk) 21:16, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
And now you know! 'Perciate the info. Ravensfire (talk) 21:42, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

I created another LTA casepage. Feel free if any improvements. Destiny Leo (talk) 05:01, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

You might want to move the case page to reflect the fact that the involved IP addresses geolocate to Waltham, Massachusetts. Binksternet (talk) 05:07, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Whoops, sorry for mislocating. But the current IP returns and accuse Edgar181 to create an SPI report. [3] Destiny Leo (talk) 08:13, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
LTA case pages are handy for keeping track of individual vandals but they are supposed to be started only after the vandal has been blocked multiple times. Can you point to a block log or two to show that this has happened? Take a look at Wikipedia:Long-term abuse to see what kinds of vandals deserve a case page. Binksternet (talk) 15:31, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
For that matter, can someone please provide an example of me vandalizing a page? Many users are calling me a vandal, but whenever I ask them to give me proof, they go silent. The page Destiny Leo made doesn't actually show that I have vandalized anything. I add genres to song pages, and they are sourced and later approved by other editors. This whole thing is beginning to feel like a witch hunt. 129.64.152.58 (talk) 20:01, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, it's a real concern, with Destiny Leo not having shown proof yet of previous blocks. I have to run off and do my job for a couple of days, but I'll check back and see what's going on when I have a chance. Binksternet (talk) 22:03, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to look into this. 129.64.152.58 (talk) 07:01, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Record collector vandal

Hi, just letting you know of an IP vandal that keeps adding himself to List of record collectors (now with fake refs taken from other parts of the article, how clever), been doing so for over a year, and he keeps undoing my reverts. Neodop (talk) 23:31, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

I watchlisted the article, so I can help watch for this guy. Binksternet (talk) 22:43, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Would you mind discussing this issue of floods on the Talk: my edits are based on RS. Where are any source to justify floods as the most important reason?

An editor add this genre in the article, do the source explicitly stated it's Southern hip hop? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 12:50, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

It certainly says that Big K.R.I.T.'s genre is Southern hip hop, explicitly. If you give some leeway to the source's wording – if you allow for some reading comprehension-based interpretation – it's also saying that the first half of the album is Southern hip hop, while the second half is more introspective. So I wouldn't rush to remove that genre. Binksternet (talk) 19:22, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
I did read the source, I just wanna hear a second opinion on it to make sure it's correctly says it is. If the source explicitly stated it's a Southern hip hop album, I will not remove it. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 14:08, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

*sigh*

Yeah, so, again, I am done with the TJ article. I don't disagree with your edits and would love to collaborate on the article but judging from some of the edit summaries the atmosphere around editing it is not what I come to Wikipedia for. Good luck. Shearonink (talk) 23:45, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Edit warring instead of discussion

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Thomas Jefferson shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Please discuss any difference of opinion on the Jefferson talk page, rather than perpetuating edit wars. Nothing but the facts were added. Also, please do not continue to make reverts out of ignorance. You thought DNA evidence only pointed to Thomas, and not any of his male relatives. This is a major oversight. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 00:39, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

You woefully misrepresent my thoughts. And you know perfectly well the kind of brinksmanship reversions you were performing. Binksternet (talk) 01:36, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Lou Reed

Hi there, why the re-edits of the Lou Reed article? Did you bother to note that the "descent into drug addiction for the rest of his career" was 100% in-accurate? That's why I changed it to provide actual context to what the man did between 1972 - 1989 in that specific paragraph. Feel free to re-insert my edits in there, unless you can come up with something better then needlessly hitting a 'delete' button. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.30.181.164 (talk) 03:40, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

I looked at your wording and found it unencyclopedic: you mispelled words and introduced links to the wrong stuff such as Transformer and Berlin which are supposed to be albums. You didn't use italics on the album names nor did you put quotes around song names. You used two grocer's apostrophes where they don't belong. You put poor grammar into your version of the "descent" sentence. I don't think you're cut out for writing the encyclopedia. Binksternet (talk) 03:47, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Binksternet.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 21:39, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer. It looks like a lot of work, which would have the effect of shifting my focus some undetermined degree away from maintaining articles that are already in place, articles that are in my areas of interest. But I will consider the proposal. Binksternet (talk) 06:18, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

An editor add this genre in the article, while the source did say New Jack Swing, but I don't know the source explicitly states the album is that genre. What your opinion on it? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 16:30, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

The source says the album is "new jack soul" which is not one of our genres with an article. The source also says the album is trap swing. At any rate, the infobox is for genres that are generally true, while specific details should be placed in the article body as prose. If the album is not widely called a new jack swing album then we can assume the source is an outlier. Binksternet (talk) 22:48, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
I take the genre is acceptable, as long the genre is sourced. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 18:53, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, that's usually true. Binksternet (talk) 20:38, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Would you have a moment to look at the edits of this user. You are very good at identifying appropriate edits to music articles. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:41, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

It's really Special:Contributions/2604:2000:98C4:8C00:0:0:0:0/64, which is a range of IPs in Queens, New York, with activity going back to October 2016. This person has received numerous warnings about adding unreferenced stuff, but as far as I know, they have not communicated back. Among the warnings are some from you: this one, this one, and this one, all from February, and this one from March. Materialscientist blocked this user in March.[6]
Some of what they add to articles is verifiable, but a lot is not. That's the problem we all have with this user. Binksternet (talk) 14:18, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Spanish or Basque descent

I noticed an IP user replaced Basque with Spanish across several articles. Special:Contributions/89.167.129.54 I see you undid the edit on Berryessa, San Jose. I have no idea what Wikipedia policy is on this topic is, but the IP edits seem "motivated" to me. I also brought the issue up here: Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment --Knulclunk (talk) 18:29, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. Discussion is always good. Binksternet (talk) 21:40, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

Doki

Hi B, I restored some of the content you reverted at Doki. It's definitely not a commentary on your reversion. I was cleaning up some of the cruddy grammar and had an edit conflict with you. Since I was able to verify one or two of the entries, (Zeke is an armadillo who flies a hot-air balloon and Sticks Bamberg is a character whose name is voiced clearly by one of the other characters) I'm left with the impression that the content was submitted in good faith, even if I haven't been able to vet it all. I may protect the article just to get that kid to start talking. It's certainly not cool to have to keep cleaning up his grammar. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:23, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. Glad you're on it. Binksternet (talk) 16:29, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
I do note that the submitting IP has been problematic for quite a while. I don't know what to make of crap like this where we're to believe that characters from this Discovery Kids series appears in a Nelvana series playing Nintendo characters? I mean, maybe that's possible, but it seems like it would be a licensing nightmare. Anyway, short story, I still think we should be circumspect about that user. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:36, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, the user is problematic, with lots of unreferenced and dubious stuff added, and like a stopped clock, sometimes hits the mark correctly. Binksternet (talk) 16:38, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

"Already on Wikipedia" is not enough. Each non-free file must have a specific rationale for it to be use in every single article where it appears. Binksternet (talk) 00:56, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

Removed information

This is not intended to be an offensive question, but could you please explain to me why you removed large sections from the article Creation science? Just curious.73.223.163.36 (talk) 01:09, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

The text was not neutral. The text set up a false equivalence between evolution and creationism, between science and religion. Binksternet (talk) 01:13, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

Reverting category edits

I cannot understand why you reverted my percussion categories, because I owuldn't add them if certain drummers don't play them, so please don't assume that I'm intending to vandalize or making destructive edits.

61.69.217.3 (talk) 21:07, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Did you read the guideline at WP:CATDEF? That's where it explains how categories must be definitive. If a drummer is famous for sitting behind a rock drum kit then they are in the category of drummer. If that drummer sometimes plays congas or other percussion, they are not in the category of conga player or percussionist because that's not what defines them. Binksternet (talk) 23:18, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Peter Rabbit (TV series)

Whoever did the edit before my last one did something similar and that was left untouched, so I assumed it would be fine. I see that I was wrong.

Space Rock

Not sure why you felt the 21st century info in the intro paragraph on the space rock page mentioning the resurgence of the term only belongs further down in the 21C section? It had been in that intro paragraph for a couple years til someone took it and a bunch of other info out of the intro and the article in 2016. Happy to hear what you have to say before adding it back in again - at present, doesn't seem to make sense that the genre's intro would end with the 20th century. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HaroldPalmer2000 (talkcontribs) 05:40, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

You wrote that the space rock "term was revived in the 21st century to refer to a new crop of groups..." but none of the sources say this. Instead, the three sources each describe one band as a space rock band. So you have synthesized s conclusion which was assembled from A+B+C. The conclusion is your own, not supported by the literature. So I determined that these new details should be removed from the lead section and repositioned down into the article body, with your synthesized conclusion removed. According to the guideline at WP:LEAD, the lead section should be a summary of the article body. The lead section is not the first place to stick new details. Binksternet (talk) 05:56, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

That makes sense, thanks for explaining. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spcranger (talkcontribs) 23:51, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Regarding Shaher at Docufiction

Hi Only reverted once. also Shaher won the Best narration award at DIFF (Delhi International film festival.) 45.118.158.60 (talk) 07:13, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Best narration? I cannot find anything about such an award. The DIFF website says nothing about an award for narration. This page about Shaher at DIFF doesn't say the film won any award. And they spell it wrong: Shehar. You will need to find proof that the film has received an award. Binksternet (talk) 07:34, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Yes I did notice that, will update as soon they post the link. There isnt many Docufiction films coming from India, and as the film was competing with films from Iran and other Asian films and having won, I thought that was significant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.118.158.60 (talk) 11:20, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Edit war

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on GoldenEye. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.5.148.42.186 (talk) 14:20, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

It takes two to tango. Neither of you have tried to discuss the issue, as far as I can tell. Both of you are just reverting each other, which amounts to an edit war even though neither of you have crossed WP:3RR yet. If this goes on, admin intervention may become necessary to stop that edit war. Please don't let it come to that. I'll leave a similar note on User talk:5.148.42.186. Huon (talk) 19:26, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
I threw a few comments into some of the talk pages just now (Talk:GoldenEye, Talk:Shirley Bassey, Talk:Rock Profile), but my overarching concern is that this IP editor is evading a block. Binksternet (talk) 20:35, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged.
Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After requesting to be added to the project, reviewing is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the reviewing instructions before making your decision. Edits on Led Zeppelin songs article

I want to know why you are reverting my edits to Led Zeppelin song articles in regards to John Bonham's percussion playing? A ching-ring (a tambourine that is often mounted on a hi-hat stand) is clearly audible on "Moby Dick" and a gong can be heard on "What is and What Should Never Be", both obviously by Bonham and maracas appear to be audible on "Custard Pie" in unison with the hi-hats.61.69.217.3 (talk) 10:38, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

You are listening to the song and writing down what you hear, as expressed in your edit summaries. Wikipedia is built on WP:SECONDARY sources, which means that your own findings are not supposed to be in the encyclopedia. On your talk page, I directed you to read the instructions at WP:No original research, which is a hard policy, not negotiable. Binksternet (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Do you think this article should be deleted? This could easily be added to the Britpop article and is very similar to the already good article post-Britpop. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 04:38, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes, nominated for deletion. Binksternet (talk) 06:01, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

An editor made this edit with a source, should it stay that way since the source says: This bizarre and supposedly "challenging" album was universally acclaimed and, apparently, unimpeachable. What do you think of it? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 17:24, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

The IP editor is cherry-picking the best few words from the review, which mainly focuses on how the album is difficult listening, not enjoyable. The IP editor is misrepresenting the source. Your removal was appropriate. Binksternet (talk) 01:53, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Sweet Caroline

I am perplexed that you keep reverting this page back to an incorrect date of June 1969 for this release....The song was OFFICIALLY released by Diamond's label on September 16th, 1969...The label apparently provided the song to a few labels 8 or so weeks earlier, but the OFFICIAL release date was September 16th, 1969

Here are some simple cites that you could have found on your own with Google using only the wording "Sweet Caroline", and "September 16"... The first two links are interviews with Diamond himself where he states the same. By the way, the Guardian article is from 2007 or 11 years ago:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2808898/I-needed-three-syllable-Singer-Neil-Diamond-reveals-Sweet-Caroline-love-song-wife-Marcia-not-rhyme.html

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2007/nov/20/usa.musicnews

https://lyrics.elvispresley.com.au/sweet-caroline.html

http://songlyricstoday.com/sweet-caroline-lyrics

I could just Google 25 more if you need them. I don't edit anything and this is my first edit, but it is correct.

Please revert it back to the correct date per my proof and links...I don't know how to add the cites on the page without ruining the text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Weintzer (talkcontribs) 05:34, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Diamond's record company was Uni. Uni released the 45 rpm single in late May or June 1969. I have provided good sources for this on your talk page. It doesn't inspire confidence that you lead your charge here with a link to the unreliable Daily Mail. Binksternet (talk) 05:45, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

I have given you multiple sources including quotes from DIAMOND HIMSELF on this and yet you have decided to police something based on your one obscure link, when I can send you dozens?

I am detecting that no matter what I show you may not be able to admit that you are wrong. You have also edited this article three times in one 24 hour period. Weintzer (talk) 05:56, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

The inescapable problem with your position is that the song went to its highest point in the charts a month before you say it was released. Binksternet (talk) 14:57, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Among them was Guadalcanal Campaign, and next month marks the 75th anniversary of the successful conclusion of that battle. I am going through it to fix and conform cites, renew accessdates, and do any other needed cleanup. As you are familiar with the article, any suggestions by you for its improvement would be welcome. Blanking talk pages

I have a question. If somebody blanks their talk page over and over to avoid responding to an issue, what do you do? I've tried to add my question over and over again but the user keeps blanking the page. I need to get this issue settled out, but the user is making it hard. I didn't know where to ask this question, so I am asking you since you are a "higher-up" user. Thanks. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 21:46, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

It looks like Piriczki doesn't want to talk to you, so if you want to get the issue settled, then take the matter to one of several places on Wikipedia for dispute resolution. At Wikipedia:Dispute resolution, the suggestion is to take the matter to the dispute resolution noticeboard, or if the dispute is just between the two of you, then you can go to Wikipedia:Third opinion. Other noticeboards are listed at WP:SEEKHELP.
In my opinion, the version of the power pop article that is preferred by Piriczki is the better choice. It's been cleaned up to a greater degree. Binksternet (talk) 22:12, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for your input. I think power pop should stay a pop rock subgenre because there isn't a source that says it's plain rock, but there is a couple that says it's a form of pop rock. Plus, it has pop in the name. SuperLuigi22 (talk|contribs) 22:23, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

I am June's cousin and made the changes I did from the family tree I have developed from civil and family records. I should find it a favor if you could educate me in how to properly cite such sourcing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FitzStewart (talkcontribs) 01:59, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Well, FitzStewart, the main problem is that Wikipedia has a core policy of WP:No original research, requiring facts that people put into the encyclopedia be previously published. If the family history has been published, you can cite that. Otherwise, the information, while true as far as you know, is original research. Authors of books, reporters at newspapers, scientists at universities – all of these are expected to perform original research. But for Wikipedia, the facts in the articles are supposed to be a summary of what can be found in published works. Binksternet (talk) 02:26, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Waylon Jennings:

Why does it matter how many associates we add? He was associated with them! Other articles have more! Matt Campbell (talk) 04:08, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

"Other articles" may not be in compliance with the instructions at Template:Infobox musical artist#associated_acts where it says that more than one song together is needed to list an artist in the infobox. If you point me to those other articles I will go there and trim the infobox of excess associated acts.
Matt Campbell, I'm not preventing you from telling the reader about song collaborations between two artists, using prose to describe the connection, with the goal of fleshing out the article body text. I'm just trying to limit the stuff that's seen in the infobox, to suit the purpose of the infobox, which is to show the reader the main points of a biography. All of the smaller points go in the article body. Binksternet (talk) 06:40, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

We Will Rock You

Hello, I recently had my edit replacing the phrase 'the song has become a staple at sporting events' to 'the song has become a cliche at sporting events' removed. I'm am willing to assert that use of the song HAS become a cliche, and moved beyond being a 'staple'. It's use at sporting events has become a) utterly predictable, and b) overused to the point where it no longer serves it's intended function, ie to fire up the crowd and get them clappin' and thigh slappin'. How does something become a cliche? By predictable overuse, and the use of We Will Rock You has certainly achieved this. I will not edit the article again - it will be a waste of everybody's time', but I don't see why the use of the more genteel 'staple' has more validity than the - thoroughly accurate - 'cliche'. And thank you for taking the time to explain why the edit was reverted back.203.220.212.117 (talk) 15:42, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

First, your change was not supported by a citation to a source talking about the sporting event usage as being cliché. Second, writings such as this contradict your conclusion, though there are certainly other writers who agree.
If the playing of the song was not enjoyed by the sports fans, then it would not be played so much by the production staff at games. Is it possible for something to be cliché and well-received at the same time? From the various writings about the song and its persistence in sports I would say it's not a foregone conclusion that the song played at sports games is cliché. So, this guy.. Not sure if it's the Kent IP, but is there anything that we can do other than hit rollback every time? Re: Westlife

Kindly just edit the copyrighted ones and not delete the whole thing. I put reference links to most of it. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myxxd (talkcontribs)

The problems go deeper than that. How about the extensive, unreferenced list of collaborating artists? How about the huge image size you prefer? How about the puffery in the wording? Binksternet (talk) 05:19, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
@Myxxd: adding vast amounts of unsourced material, especially when they include large numbers of links to WP:DAB pages, is WP:DISRUPTive. No editor will have the patience to go through a 30k edit trying to fix the WP:INTDAB errors it introduced. Narky Blert (talk) 19:38, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Kindly specifically point out the unsourced contents. I can see so many citations needed on the current Westlife page compared to the one I edited, I put out reference links, it just need to be polished. Thank you

About the List of songs recorded and performed by Westlife, I aim for it to look like List of songs recorded by Steps or List of songs recorded by One Direction. About Stay With Me (Ironik song) released in 2008, it sampled Westlife's song Written in the Stars published in 2002. About the List of best-selling albums in the Philippines, have you seen the table below, it has reference to it.

You are using poor English, unreliable sources, and you are biased in favor of the band so much so that your writing is affected with puffery and promotion. I think you should practice in your sandbox. Binksternet (talk) 17:42, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Then edit the poor English, as long as it has authentic sites as references I believe it should not be deleted. Biased? I am just stating facts with reference. I am not grossly hooked with Wikipedia to have sandbox, stars, awards and stuff. I am just here to add information with the reliable sources and then somebody could help to improve the articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myxxd (talkcontribs)

No, you are creating a problem, and I am here to stop the problem from developing further. Binksternet (talk) 17:50, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

I went to your page and you're an American from California and are totally clueless with the band. Just collaborate with an Irish or British if you wish to check the reference links and verify its data reliability. Just remember Wikipedia's purpose, a free encyclopedia.

Free, but not an indiscriminate collection of information. Binksternet (talk) 18:12, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

If I am biased with the group, I will delete the critic's names, the news of them not breaking in to America, and will put information with no reference links. But did I do that?

Problem? Am I life-threatening to you? Yeah right talking about being indiscriminate.

Reliable sources

I need help with reliable sources and adding of citation needed for claims. Thank you.

The book about John Bonham by Chris Welch is a reliable source and specifically states that the cowbell is heard on "Good Times, Bad Times". You misunderstand Wikipedia's purpose. It's not here for you to document the things you notice. It's here to summarize all the things that have been published about a topic. So if you want to expand the information in an article, you should be reading WP:Reliable sources and summarizing them. Binksternet (talk) 05:09, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

They were professional and official music videos uploaded in Youtube. I heard one was the Director's Cut. If it's a different music artist and more well-known, no one will delete it as long as it has the reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myxxd (talkcontribs)

A video is not a reference for your analysis of editing and shots. You need to find a WP:SECONDARY source talking about the difference. Binksternet (talk) 17:49, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Regards, ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 22:33, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I am definitely keeping an eye on this persistent block evader! You can see my case history page here. Binksternet (talk) 01:32, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Lead guitar

Eddy Grant was indeed the lead guitarist for The Equals while Patrick Lloyd was the rhythm guitarist, so lead guitarist is a defining characteristic of him. 60.240.8.249 (talk) 02:02, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

I was just trying to differentiate between the two guitars for both Avenged Sevenfold and Cannibal Corpse, Synyster Gates is definitely lead guitar for a7x, as for Cannibal Corpse, yes both guitarists occasionally do alternate, but Pat O'Brien plays lead a majority of time thanks.--47.18.61.176 (talk) 03:45, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Mike DeNicola--47.18.61.176 (talk) 03:45, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Excuse you?

The comfort women page is not your personal playground, Dude. YOU reverted something that I did not add, but did judge to be properly cited, like it or not. Jusenkyoguide (talk) 10:08, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

There's a history of Japanese nationalist editors who add a single primary document from the US Army to the article in order to diminish the comfort women story. This one primary document is dismissed as unreliable by many historians. In any case, Wikipedia is built on WP:SECONDARY sources, not primary ones. Binksternet (talk) 15:20, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

My contributions to the articles

Thanks for telling me that. All I post is with citation so in most of my editings I post links to it. You can check it out. I'm not a vandalist. In the article ...But Seriously I posted the wiki-links British Male Artist and British Single instead of the unlinked words but it was rechanged who knows why. My changes were true and not vandalism.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.20.171.32 (talk) 03:31, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Revert on Rico Love

On Rico Love you reverted my disambiguation of Danja to Danja (record producer) with an edit summary of "Rv... Block evasion by User:MusicLover650.". I do not understand this I am not and have never heard of User:MusicLover650.— Rod talk 07:22, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

I reverted past your edit to remove the stuff added from the person before you. That person added Danja, which is why I removed not only Danja but also your disambiguation effort. As far as I can see, Danja and Rico Love don't have enough sigificant artistic interconnectivity. Danja produced the Rico Love songs "Days Go By" and "Bitches Be Like". Producers are not normally listed in the "associated acts" field. You can read about what goes in that parameter at Template:Infobox musical artist#associated_acts.
