Schofield was a frequent houseguest at Redfield's farm, upstream from New Hope, Pennsylvania, and the two would go out painting together, competing to capture the better view. Redfield served on the jury for the 1904 Annual Exhibition of the Carnegie Institute; at which, despite Redfield's opposition, Across the River was awarded the Gold Medal and $1,500 prize. It was not until a 1963 interview that the 93-year-old Redfield revealed the painting as the cause of the 40-year feud between them. Schofield may have painted it in England, but a blindsided Redfield knew that this was a view of the Delaware River, from his own front yard! |

Da Doo Ron Ron covers[edit]
Wikipedia's policy regarding song covers states: "Only cover versions/renditions important enough to have gained attention in their own right should be added to song articles." None of the listed covers of "Da Doo Ron Ron" fit this criterion. Furthermore, none of the examples of the song used or parodied in media are demonstrably notable enough to be included. Thus, the article should not feature this lengthy list of obscure covers and references. Songwaters (talk) 20:31, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
- Many of these have gained my attention. I am not too concerned about the policy, how significant a song is can be measured in part by who covers it. Help at Neoshamanism?[edit]
Hello! I see you've previously been involved at discussion about the neoshamanism article. I've recently been attempting to improve it, removing bias and including more sources, but have been encountering a lot of friction. If you have time, could you come by and either weigh in on Talk or take a look at the recent edits and see if you see anything problematic that should be discussed? Thanks! - @Suomichris: There has been a lot of editing there in the last week or so. I went through a day or two but other editors have not yet showed up. I notice that my first edit there was in 2006. A note about myself. I have had, years ago, a fair amount of Harner and other neo-shamanist "training" and have engaged in a lot of what might be termed neo-shamanist work (and play) starting in about 1990. "Shaman" was never our preferred term. Nor was "New Age." Anyway, I felt that because of that I was not exactly an impartial editor so have mostly stayed away from the article, though it remains on my watchlist. I will try working my way through the recent history and offer an opinion. I've found nothing problematic with the 20 (to make up a number) edits of yours so far. @Lockley: Hey, pal. I hope you're well. Walt was working on this several days ago, which was how I got started on the lists of works.
I don't understand editors who write articles about artists without including images of the works. It's one thing when the works are still under copyright, but Partridge's are all PD.
I apologize if you've tried emailing me and I haven't replied. Email has been on the fritz for more than a week.

- Hey fellas -- one interesting bit about Partridge -- a long time ago Carptrash had pointed me to that 1914 biography, particularly that "Law Suppressing Anarchy" group on page 13, supposedly shown at Buffalo in 1901. I've searched recently and couldn't verify that Partridge showed anything at all in Buffalo. There's also a work at the house of Henry Varnum Poor in Tuxedo Park, New York, which is mildly intriguing. Carptrash good luck to you, let us know, huh? --Lockley (talk) 17:28, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

- Here's the page for "Law Suppressing Anarchy": [1] There are comparatively few photos of the Buffalo Exposition (compared to Chicago 1893, and after). I couldn't find the sculpture on the Government Building either.
- The Jordan Font seems to have been in use at the National Cathedral from 1904 to the 1950s. So why can't I find more images of it?
- Episcopalians may be "wet" (well, I am), but not into total immersion. Also, the Basptistery was then a separate building from the Cathedral, the present font is inside the south transcept.

- @Lockley: Partridge gets more and more interesting. I just added a sonnet he composed for the dedication of his Shakespeare Memorial.
- I'm finding that some of the works he listed in his 1914 catalogue were aspirational. The Nathan Hale at Yale never happened, although there was a fund-raising drive for it. He did a bust of "Fightin' Joe" Hooker, but lost the commission for the Boston equestrian statue to D. C. French. And the critics RAVED about his General Grant, including Grant's son.

- hey, hello! how are you! it feels juvenile, somehow, to make some little niggling edit in the middle of your field of 150+, but I'm going to do it again (g). Twice. I'll just go with that juvenile feeling & call it "youthful energy". Excellent work as always and a valuable contribution. Two more angles on Partridge that may or may be interesting. In 1896 Partridge sued the organizers of one of those crooked competitions. The Society of the Army of the Tennessee had assembled a blue-ribbon crew (ASG, Olin Warner, DCF, JQA Ward, Bruce Price, George Post) to judge the entrants for the Sherman statue in Washington DC. The crew did so, choosing Partridge and others. The Society overruled their decision and went with Carl Rohl-Smith. Partridge sued for $10,000. The NSS weighed in with stormy words dignified moral force for a few weeks. The outcome is uncertain but NYC newspaper coverage had Partridge issuing quotes from his studio in the Madison Square Garden tower. And Partridge was not only a member of the National Sculpture Society, but headed a splinter organization called the Society of American Sculpture in 1904 which didn't last long. - Partridge also sued the Union League Club of Brooklyn. I think he was assured that cost overruns on the Equestrian statue of Grant would be covered, and then they weren't. So he had a lien put on his own statue.
- $15,000 for the Grant was a steal. The budget for the Joe Hooker in Boston was $50,000.
- Grant really is a fine statue. A shame that there are only so-so images of it on the Commons. Someone should photograph it from the second-story windows of an adjacent building.

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are opening in a few hours (00:01 UTC on 1 September). A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
