Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Upstairs, Downstairs (1971 TV series) into A Cry for Help (Upstairs, Downstairs). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Orphaned non-free image File:Amanda Shepherd playing Emily Binx in Hocus Pocus 1993 film.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Amanda Shepherd playing Emily Binx in Hocus Pocus 1993 film.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 19:08, 15 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Amanda Shepherd playing Emily Binx in Hocus Pocus 1993 film.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Amanda Shepherd playing Emily Binx in Hocus Pocus 1993 film.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 20:22, 15 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Use of non-free images[edit]

Please, before you upload more screenshots, you need to make yourself familiar with the Wikipedia policy about the use of non-free content. As it is Wikipedia's aim for as much content to be as free as possible, the use of non-free content is deliberately very tightly controlled and any image uploaded must meet all ten of the criteria at non-free content criteria. Adding multiple images to an article like you did at The Beastly Hun tends to fail criterion 3a "Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information" and criterion 8 "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding", so don't add screenshots unless you are sure that the policy is being adhered to. This is why most TV episodes etc do not have numerous images on them. Nthep (talk) 20:34, 15 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Roberta ("Bobbie") recommends an idea for a practical joke by sneaking into Barmy's bedroom at night and puncturing the hot-water bottle with a darning needle attached to a stick. At 2:30 in the morning, Bertie goes to the bedroom with the stick and needle. In the darkened room, he successfully punctures the hot-water bottle. Bertie punctures the hot-water bottle of Aneta Cluj. Prof Cluj's wife Aneta discovers the punctured hot-water bottle and they are furious with Bertie. They go to Bertie's room to spend the rest of the night, leaving their room to Bertie. Bertie spends the night in an armchair. --ColeB34 (talk) 09:09, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't upload any more screen shots[edit]

Hello. I am Diannaa and I am an administrator on this wiki. Please don't upload any more screen shots of television shows. We used to have lots of these, but the consensus now is that we only include them in exceptional circumstances. Your uploads don't meet our non-free content requirements, as laid out in Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, an official Wikipedia policy with legal implications. I am nominating the remainder of your uploads for deletion (there are 82 files in total, too many to list here). Please let me know if you have any questions. To repeat, you need to stop doing this right now, as we don't include screen shots in our TV articles any more. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:23, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you --ColeB34 (talk) 23:22, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see you're still uploading screenshots on every new Upstairs Downstairs article you create, despite very clear advice from admin User:Diannaa a few days ago. The recent ones all appear to be copied from http://www.updown.org.uk/epguide/s2.htm, making their copyright status even more questionable. Will you please stop? Wikishovel (talk) 08:07, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have replaced the image in the above article, as in your screen shot it's not clear which one is Brierley. The new image is File:Roger Brierley.jpg. The image File:J. Washburn Stoker (as Frederick Aloisius Lenin) and Sir Roderick Glossop (as Alfred Trotsky) (Jeeves and Wooster - Kidnapped!).png is no longer in use, and has been tagged for deletion. I see you re-added File:J. Washburn Stoker (as Frederick Aloisius Lenin) and Sir Roderick Glossop (as Alfred Trotsky) (Jeeves and Wooster - Kidnapped!).png to the article. I am nominating this image for deletion, as it fails the non-free content on several counts. Specifically, it is not needed in the article Jeeves, because there are already two freely licensed images in that article (fails NFCC #1), and its presence does not significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be not detrimental to that understanding (fails NFCC #8). Please let me know if you have any questions. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 09:47, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Character articles[edit]

Please don't create articles about characters from TV series unless they are clearly notable. The character (not the series, not the episode, not the actor, but specifically the character) must have received significant attention in reliable, independent sources to have its own article. Articles like Jack Dyson (Upstairs, Downstairs character) seem to be about rather obscure characters where nothing much beyond a plot summary can be said.

Also, as has been said above, stop uploading further screen shots. Otherwise your account will be blocked. Fram (talk) 08:54, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of Jeeves and Wooster episodes into Aunt Dahlia, Cornelia And Madeline. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:48, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tom Marshall (actor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. --Cameron11598 (Talk) 00:59, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I noticed that you recently made a contribution to the List of Upstairs, Downstairs (1971 TV series) characters article that seemed to be a test. Your test worked! However, test edits on live articles disrupt Wikipedia and may confuse readers. If you want more practice editing, the sandbox is the best place to do so. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 12:53, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ColeB34. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Amanda Shepherd, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Patrolled and some tips! Suggestion[edit]

Hi,
I've recently patrolled the articles you created relating to Upstairs, Downstairs and Jeeves and Wooster. Many of them have been tagged for cleanup and I thought I'd give you a few tips:

  • Citations - almost everything you say on Wikipedia articles needs to be sourced so it can be verified. The more citations you make, the better. I think your articles could benefit from the use of inline citations a bit more as they are quite helpful for the reader.
  • Notability - I've not tagged the articles with these because this is just my own personal opinion but it might be better in future (and indeed it may be proposed that this be done to the existing articles) that individual episodes of TV programmes be amalgamated into a list. This is often done for less notable programmes (although I'll admit I've watched all episodes of both of them).
  • Stubs - this kind of links in with notability. Stubs are extremely short Wikipedia articles, many of which could do with expanding. Stubs often have low citation counts (see above) because there's not much content that needs verifying. If you can expand these articles, that is much appreciated!
  • BLP - Wikipedia has a very strict policy on biographies of living persons. Absolutely everything that you say about a living person must be sourced or it may be challenged and removed. I have tagged two of your BLP articles for deletion as they only contain one link to IMDb entries.
  • Formatting - Wikipedia has a general guide for layout and format conventions to keep in mind when creating articles (see links below).

In relation to these points, you may find the following policies and guidelines helpful:

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia and I hope my advice is useful to you!
Kind regards,

Proposed deletion of Victoria Thomas (actor)[edit]

The article Victoria Thomas (actor) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable actress, appeared in three episodes of one TV series (her filmography is either incorrect or so minor as to be unverifiable).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Fram (talk) 09:52, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of your article subjects[edit]

Many of your articles have been deleted (and turned into a redirect at best) because the subjects weren't notable. Above, DrStrauss also gives you the advice that many of your TV episode articles may not be on notable subjects (I e.g. can't find reliable independent indepth sources about Dead Man’s Cargo (The Onedin Line): IMDb is not reliable, the BBC is not independent, no books seem to have spent any attention to this single episode, ...).

Please stop creating articles on actors and TV series episodes unless you can truly show that they are notable, not simply that they exist. Fram (talk) 10:02, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And when you create an article on an actor who presumably is notable, like Dudley Jones, then don't claim that he is "best known" for appearing in one episode of a series you happen to be writing about... Fram (talk) 10:23, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Herbert Ramskill[edit]

The article Herbert Ramskill has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Ramskill wasn't born in 1963 (and not in Stepney either) nor died in 2014, he didn't play in 4 episodes of Black Beauty and wasn't "best known" for it, and the only source used seems to be clearly unreliable. If we need an article on him (assuming he is notable), it is better to simply start iver from scratch than to continue with these errors.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Proposed deletion of Ian Pigot[edit]

The article Ian Pigot has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A child actor who played a few minor roles in TV series when he was 10-13 years old. Biographical information is unverifiable, no evidence of notability could be found

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Proposed deletion of Alastair Mackenzie (actor)[edit]

The article Alastair Mackenzie (actor) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable child actor. Played in a few episodes of Black Beauty, remainder of roles given here is unverifiable and seems to be by Alastair Mackenzie, another actor of same name (who isn't dead and still acting). Biographical information (like his birth name, date, ...) is totally unverifiable. Only source is unreliable. No indication of notability could be found online.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

The article Marc Harrison (actor) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Beit Hamidrash Synagogue moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Beit Hamidrash Synagogue, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Small Spanish Temple moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Small Spanish Temple, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. New articles generally need at least two (but preferably more) references from reliable sources that are independent of the subject that discuss the subject with significant coverage (trivial mentions do not contribute to notability).(See Rule 42) Information that can't be referenced to reliable sources should be removed from the draft because verifiability is necessary for information added to Wikipedia.
I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of Draft: before the article title) where you can work on the article with minimal disruption from other users while you improve it.
When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready to be published, you can move it back to the article space yourself. However, I recommend that instead of moving it yourself that you follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template that I have added to the page. This submits the article to be reviewed by experienced editors that specialize in helping new editors write their first articles. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 20:13, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. Hi thanks for creating this article. When we translate or borrow from other language wikis it’s a requirement to acknowledge the source. The best way to do this is to include it in your edit summary (e.g. “translated from nl.wiki”) and there’s also a translation template you can add to the talk page. If you can confirm where material for this article was sourced I’ll add the template to the talk page for you. Happy editing and please leave a message on my talk page if you need any help. A tag has been placed on Lt. Theodore R. Dobias requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
