Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Timofei Moșneaga, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Moldovan. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vasile Procopișin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://usmf.md/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Savanti_Medici_Ilustri_web.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Democratic Party of Moldova, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 14:25, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Andrei Uncuța moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Andrei Uncuța, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Notice

The article Valeriu Pasat has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. ASUKITE 21:09, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Hello. You've created several articles with one single source. While this is enough for them to exist, there is a policy in Wikipedia, WP:ONESOURCE, which recommends adding a minimum of two sources due to a set of several reasons. I was here only to note that if you could be do this, there would probably be no problems with your articles; because they only have one source, one was proposed for deletion and another was moved to draftspace (aka, readers cannot read them). I moved the latter back to mainspace. This all comes to WP:NOTABILITY if you wish to know what I mean, an article having one single source might indicate a lack of notability to users not familiarised with the subject.

Thank you for your contributions on Moldovan politics. It is good to see that someone keeps pages up to date. Super Ψ Dro 21:50, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 22:59, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Editor1722,
Please always leave an explanatory edit summary so other editors understand why, for example, you moved an article from one page title to another. You can do what I did and set your Wikipedia Preferences (upper right hand) so that you get a notice when you forget to leave an edit summary. Some of your edits raise questions and what seems obvious to you might not be clear to other editors. Leaving a brief edit summary would help with this issue. It is also considered a best practice for editors. Please try to do this in your future editing. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 23:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Moldova Super Liga.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Moldova Super Liga.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 09:08, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Moldova Super Liga.png. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

Native names

[edit]

Hello @Editor1722, I am @Archer1234. I noticed that you are making dozens and maybe hundreds of edits to add or change |native name= in infoboxes of biographies (primarily, if not, exclusively, of living people). The edits include, in many cases, the addition of "<br />" tags.

MOS:NOBR says:

Do not separate list items with line breaks (<br />). Use {{plainlist}} / {{unbulleted list}} if the list is to remain vertical; ...

In some cases, the edits actually removed the use of "{{ubl}}" (e.g., at Mikheil Saakashvili), which is contrary to the MOS guidance.

In addition, the edits sometimes remove use of the {{native name}} template with no explanation (see the same edit at Mikheil Saakashvili linked above).

In support of MOS:ACCESSIBILITY, MOS:OTHERLANG says:

Non-English words or phrases should be encased in {{lang}},...

The use of {{native name}} (which uses {{lang}}), is helpful not only for accessibility reasons, but also for sighted readers who do not recognize the script used for those native names. If including the name of the language in parentheses is not desired, {{native name|italics=off|paren=omit}} or using {{lang}} instead could be used to suppress that.

I am not against the addition of native names or specifying that the names are not bolded, but I think the edits could be tweaked to align better with the MOS.

For example, the |native name= for Mikheil Saakashvili could be specified as:

| native_name = {{Nobold | {{Ubl
  | {{native name|ka|მიხეილ სააკაშვილი|italics=no|paren=omit}}
  | {{native name|uk|Міхеіл Саакашвілі|italics=no|paren=omit}}
  }}}}

This would appear to readers as:

  • მიხეილ სააკაშვილი
  • Міхеіл Саакашвілі

Is there any valid reason not to follow the guidance from the MOS?

Thanks.  — Archer (t·c) 03:13, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again @Editor1722. I noticed that you continue to add/change native names in biography articles with edits that are not congruent with Wikipedia's Manual of Style (MOS) (particularly MOS:ACCESSIBILITY / MOS:OTHERLANG, but also MOS:NOBR). I asked above if there was a valid reason not to follow the MOS. At this time, I have seen no response to that question. Instead, the problematic additions/changes continue.
If you believe there are valid reasons for editing in this manner, please reply here to explain. Keep in mind that WP:Communication is required on Wikipedia. Lack of communication with good faith inquiries is disruptive as Wikipedia is a collaborative project. I look forward to your response.  — Archer (t·c) 17:34, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Please use edit summaries?

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Information icon Hello, I'm Neveselbert. I noticed that you recently removed content from Clarissa Eden without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. Oare nu a fost mai bine cu mapa stadionele incluse exact ca la articolul campionatului României. Scopul tău e văd ca să faci mai ră și mai rău…..păcat. March 6

[edit]

Hi! I reverted your edit on March 6 as any changes or additions to days of the year pages now require citations and any that aren't are being reverted, please see WP:DOYCITE. The guidelines were changed due to the high number of errors and the number of links to articles with no or little reliable sources. Any names or events added before these guidelines were implemented are currently in the process of being referenced or removed. If you'd like to find out more, please see WP:DAYS. Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Percentage point spacings

[edit]

Hello. Re your addition of a space to percentage point details, I don't think this is correct. There is not a space between a number and a percentage symbol, and as far as I can see, a pp should be treated the same way. Although it is not detailed in the WP:MOS, in the percentage point article there is no space included. Cheers, Number 57 23:21, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. There is spacing in articles on elections elsewhere (US, UK etc.) So I assumed it should be correct. Thanks Editor1722 (talk) 23:30, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it might just be habit, but I will raise it on the MOS page to see if there is a definitive answer. Number 57 23:46, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:48, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

November 2024

[edit]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Cape Verde national football team, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. —Bruce1eetalk 15:05, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries

With a Wikipedia account, you can give yourself a reminder by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary), and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 00:50, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image captions

[edit]

I have noticed that you've taken to mass editing politician pages to add the caption Official portrait, year. Is there any reason that you've latched on to this caption as standard? Additionally, edits like this one, this one, this one, and others have added unnecessary blank spaces in infoboxes when you add your caption. These edits have been reverted. If you used edit summaries, I might have a better understanding of your goals here. Thank you, Novemberjazz 16:52, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
