Hi Randeepa, I saw your message on the Bodu Bala Sena article, and I agree with you. I started the article two years ago, and I think it is terrible. It has a very large bias against the Buddhists, and that is not good, because articles are supposed to be neutral. But it is hard to find good information about this group in English, also I think none of the editors are Buddhist. By the way, you can add your signature by typing four tildes, like this ~~~~ after your message. —Neotarf (talk) 15:30, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Bodu Bala Sena. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Andrew (talk) 00:48, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just noting, as I have done here and here, that you have continued to edit war despite my request for you to stop and despite the above notice. Beware the looming sanctions. Regards Andrew (talk) 14:13, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Without citing reliable source? first read the article will you! I added only the governments heads who came to meeting! Read participanst section! why you only mention the small protests without mentioning their participants?? This article is not balanced! You ruin every Sri Lankan related article! what is your purpose? to build Eelam on Wikipedia? LOL nice try Randeepa

If the the participants have been listed in the Participants section why do you need to mention it in the Boycott section as well?. And why do insert contents before existing references, making them look like they are referenced when they aren't? What is your purpose?--obi2canibetalk contr 20:08, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Boycott section must include people who boycott this event. If leader of that country participated then how you insert that country into boycott list?? tell me it first? Some small political parties or political organizations can have different views. Is it thing to concern about? If it is so then must include that country participated or not! because small group of people's view doesn't represent country's view! Randeepa

No. 2 Squadron SLAF

[edit]

Dear friend,

I noticed that you have reverted an edit made by Obi2canibe in the relevant article. If you look at the history, he has given a valid reason according to the wiki guidelines. As he correctly mentioned, the relevant information wasn't in the given reference. (It says Sri Lanka air force but not specify No 2 squadron) All this reverts could have been avoided by giving a correct source.

I know editing in Wikipedia can be sometimes stressful and even emotional. But all of us are here for a single purpose, to create a encyclopedia. We can avoid lots of misunderstandings by just respecting opinions and views of others .

If you need any advice, help and sources, just contact us in WikiProject Sri Lanka.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Control copyright icon Hello Randeepa, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to The Sunday Leader have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. I've also removed the content from Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Thanks, Thank you. /wiae /tlk 13:21, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka

[edit]
Dear Randeepa,

Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia Projects. As an editor from Sri Lanka, you are warmly invited to join the official Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka and to subscribe to its mailing list, Wikimedia-LK.

The user group currently includes volunteers from Wikipedia and other projects, from the English, Sinhala, and Tamil speaking communities. It is the Wikimedia-approved platform for editors from Sri Lanka to enable wider collaboration, for both online and offline projects.

With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors.

There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and the friendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on.

See you on board, and Happy Editing!

So it would be enough to that place. There are plenty of aircraft images in wikipedia after every independence day each year. They all are adding those images to main page. If you want that image in the main page add it into the Gallery. Gallery includes flying formation images like this and also i have added that image to relevant squadron page.

Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Arjuna Mahendran into Ranil Wickremesinghe. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Sri Lanka

[edit]

I reverted your image adding edits to the article as they create too much clutter. Have a look at FA class articles such Japan and Germany to see how they used images very conservatively. Regards--Chanaka L (talk) 16:01, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Chanakal: Thanks for pointing out. Agree with you regarding the clutter. Some of the images of the articles are old and not suitable. Example - education section image is open air theatre of one of university. There are lot of better new images of educational institutes. Randeepa (talk) 16:13,17 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Colombo Stars, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Laurie Evans. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
