Leaving WP

[edit]

Hello, I have left wikipedia. I enjoyed my time here, it was really a lot of fun. I made lots of friends. But my time has come for me to leave. Thank you. AVTN 08:34, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We will miss you indeed Icedevil14 13:54, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck to you! Hope that you have a wonderful Summer.
--Candy156sweet 18:21, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Though I don't know you much, it was nice having you around. Take care... and I do hope you'd return...... someday. :) aJCfreak yAk 08:06, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
See ya dude. I'll keep in touch for sure. You first mate online.... Universal Hero 11:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the good-byes. I'm gonna miss you all. I'll probably try to keep in contact with you guys. Thanks again. AVTN 21:48, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. I've decided to start watching/working on Sultan: The Warrior till the fuss over the Sivaji article dies down. Just thought I'd let you know. :) aJCfreak yAk 10:35, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't make your retirement permanant. We're missing your prescense already.....become maybe like User:M.arunprasad and edit whenever you can (his yet another Tamil cinema editing prospect gone) .... Universal Hero 09:48, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 172.133.110.41 12:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm coming back!

[edit]
  1. Is that allowed?
  2. If you want to know why, then its because I have decided to wait it out on my job. I'm going to university so I won't quit wikipedia.
  3. How can I change User:AVTN back to the old one?
  4. Can you make me a userpage when I come back?
  5. I'm in chennai, I might go university here so you want to meet up sometime?
  6. If we meet up in real life I'll tell you what I came to tamil nadu for!

Its AVTN, but I don't want to log into my account from an internet cafe so I won't. I'll be back on the 15th of August. Missed you guys! 203.212.231.170 11:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, welcome back! And I really can't say that loudly enough. Anyways, to answer your questions...
About your userpage - we could try asking any one of the helpful admins if they'd be willing to give us the content of your userpage (I think they'd have access to deleted pages) but I dunno whether this violates policy. I'll check with Riana. About your userpage design - I would simply love to do it! :)
About meeting up in real life, I sure hope you're gonna be around in Chennai for quite some time. Cos I'm not gonna be coming down for a coupla weeks. When I do come down, lets definitely meet up. And catch up... :) Glad to have you back, dude. aJCfreak yAk 12:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the stuff below this, I don't really need anything restored. I would think it might be a big job. Its ok, just whip me up a new userpage. I'll just start over again with over 7k edits. :P I would think it might be for the best. Sorry for the late reply. I'll be back on AVTN on the 15th. I'm at Breeze Hotel in Chennai right now. I had a really nice dinner 2 nights back at Le Royal Meridien. It was 3000ish rupees for 4 people. I was suprised, thats how much it costs me to go eat Saravana Bhavans with my family in the UK (roughly 25 GBP). When I meet you in real life I need some prices. Since I might be staying here from now on. 203.212.231.170 12:25, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Goodness gracious me! 3000 bucks is cheap for you?! Welcome to India, bro.... :) Anyways, both times that I've been to Le Royal Meridien, I've had the buffet. Not been there in ages. The buffet's slightly cheaper, I think. No idea. Anyways, I'll be glad to provide more info on the prices scene. With regard to the userpage, sure, we'll start over. I did feel quite silly asking Deskana to restore everything, but... As you've said, we'll start over. I've got the deleted content (or what was undeleted) posted now at User:Ajcfreak/Vagish. We'll get to work on it once you're safely settled here. That's all for now. :) Hope to see you soon. aJCfreak yAk 14:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm back in the UK. So can you start work on my main page? I am getting my name changed to Sintaku which is my name on a lot of other sites. I think I registered the username here a long time ago so I'm getting it usurped. So can you make me a new front page? AVTN 18:46, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surprise!?!

[edit]

Firstly, wha-aaa.. at? Me thoughts u were gonna stay here for sometime! Aw crud. Anyways, we'll c about that later. Get some content on your userpage. Whatever u want it to say..... Lemme warn u now that I'm not great at designing userpages at all. I'm pretty good at flicking code from other pages and incorporating it. Till now, I've done the Phaedrielish design and people seem to love it. Looks especially beautiful on Firefox, with its curves et al. So if you're cool with that design, do lemme know on what colour theme to work on... ? aJCfreak yAk 21:24, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I may come back in september, but that is not confirmed. Listening to Bheema songs right now, they are good. Saw Sivaji 5 times in India, now I can't watch it again for a while. Yea, its ok if make it look like your page. I can do my edits to it later when I have time. Then I'll show you the final version and if you want I can transfer it for you too. I don't know what to add right now to my page. I have all day today, tommorow will decide whether I will be on ultra low editing (0.1-0.5k edits a month) or normal (4-5k edits a month). Oh yea, is love marriage getting popular there? I saw lots of people talking about it at the buffets. AVTN 09:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okays... Will go to work on it today. Let's see what comes out... :) Btw, I believe in what my father always used to say "No marriage can last without love!" That having been said, I assume that you meant love marriages as in marriages where the guy or girl selects the spouse. That is becoming pretty accepted, but there are lotsa kids who still want to abide by their parents' choices. aJCfreak yAk 13:59, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage design

[edit]

Hi again. I've put out a basic design construct for your userpage. Wasn't much work at all... Used a previously used design (which I'd created for a user who was later found to be a sockpuppet and so my hard work went to waste!) Anyways, the only things that I think are crappy in this design are that the border needs to be a more silvery/glowy colour and the gray background shouldn't be so dull. Anyways, I thought I'll put this up for you to work on, comment on, or completely delete... As you wish. :) Glad to have you back. aJCfreak yAk 21:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thought I'd add a lil something about that header attributing the design to Phaedriel. I really wouldn't mind if my username wasn't there - that would be totally ok with me. But I honestly feel that as long as we use the Phaedrielish design, the design needs to be attributed to her in some way or the other - need not be the same way that I've done. :) Just thought I'd let you know that. aJCfreak yAk 21:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, pretty cool. Congrats... The colours are way cooler than anything that I would've come up with. Serious... I like it, in a way :P And the kutty note reg the userpage design is pretty cool, too. :) Nice.... aJCfreak yAk 20:05, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, oh wow. Your design is supercool. I'm in complete awe of it. :) Feeling sheepish and wondering why you asked me for help now! aJCfreak yAk 14:17, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He he he. Makes sense... But nah. Not right now. I'm cool with what I've got right now. :) And you'll be in Chennai til? aJCfreak yAk 17:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
:O I forgot to sign?! No issues... I'll try to be down there by the first weekend of September. :) Will pursue further contact via email reg that. aJCfreak yAk 17:41, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My edit of the Slavonic Dances article was merely to correct a spelling error. "Immitating" is incorrect; the word should be "imitating."—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.171.84 (talk)

User Page Design

[edit]

That would be fantastic! Thanks.  :) --Candy156sweet 08:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not do this again

[edit]

"Fixing typos" in a list of corrected typos is... shall we say, a little silly? You should only be correcting typos in articles, anyway; people generally prefer to have their comments left the way they wrote them, and not modified by others, even in a wiki -- 86.157.253.41 18:14, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re your comment and the timeline

[edit]

Hi! Long time. Anyways, thanks for taking the time out to check out that chap's histories. Actually, was it possible that it was a message intended for you and was left on my page by accident (Possible, considering the error I just corrected in your talk page's header!) ? Dunno... Unless he replies, can't figure out what he meant to say.

Reg the timeline, you might wanna take a look at Template:Graphical timeline. I am quite unable to find the place from where I got the instructions to code my timeline... Seriously, Wikipedia being a Wiki has certain disadvantages, I guess.

As for editing levels and such, you can see that I'm not editing at all. Kindof in a burnout sortofa stage... Well, let's see what happens. Cheerio for now. aJCfreak yAk 19:34, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

What is vandalproof? Is this so that you can easily find vandals here on Wikipedia, and revert the offending edits? That would be so fab to use. Just asking. Hope that you have a lovely week... --Candy156sweet 22:46, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Annadammula Savaal

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Annadammula Savaal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Daniel 07:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome Back

[edit]

Hi! There is nothing really exciting going on with WP right now. The only thing that I can say that differs is the homepage layout. How have you been? I've been doing a great deal of editing as of late, but I have to take a break soon. College is more important in the grand scheme of things. Hope you are well, and you stick around for a bit. --Candy156sweet (talk) 20:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's awesome... I hope you enjoy your time at school. Right now, I am mid-semester and very busy with study. I try and edit when I can, but right now it's mostly drips and drabs. I want to get back to writing articles during fall break. --Candy156sweet (talk) 02:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your rollback request

[edit]

Hello Sintaku, I have granted your account rollback in accordance with your request. Please remember that rollback is for reverting vandalism, and that misuse of the tool, either by revert-warring with other users, or simply reverting edits you disagree with, can lead to it being removed. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback.

In addition, you mentioned on permissions about your return. Welcome back and best wishes. :) Acalamari 18:45, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moderate2008 Edits

[edit]

I'm sorry, but how exactly does changin "Peron arrest" to "17 October, 1945" in Eva Peron constitute vandalism? 17 October, 1945 was the date of the mass rallies and protests on La Plata to free Juan Peron from prison. Just respond with a post on my talk page. Thanks, Moderate2008 (talk) 19:49, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's your problem?

Why do you keep reverting my changes as vandalism without even a discussion? I'm talking about the 12th SS Division page. 139.48.25.60 (talk) 15:39, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please dont assume like an automaton that my edit was 'vandalism'. I did what you asked and provided information on a breaking development with a video game launched today. Statistics taken from Sports Interactive, Sega and Steam.

I understand you have a job to do but could you please not assume everything you disagree with is 'vandalism'.

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephensmith84 (talkcontribs) 16:49, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry deeming them as vandalism is going a bit far, but I feel those edits are very biased and not factual. This is an encyclopedia. I emplore you to visit WP:EDIT to learn the rules of editing on wikipedia, if you really do wish to help out. And as sinneed has also said if you do retype that exact same edit without making it factual I will revert it again. Best regards. Hope I helped. ~~ Sintaku Talk 17:37, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent vandalism

[edit]

I apologize if you think that my recent revisions to the "Pope Celestine" articles were vandalism. I was merely "editing mercilessly" where I thought there were errors. It would have been nice had you questioned me about my revisions instead of immediately accusing me of vandalism. 76.123.208.229 (talk) 16:56, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You were continually de-capitalising Pope, which is grammitically wrong. ~~ Sintaku Talk 17:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Syndey vandalism

[edit]

Hello, I just made a quick revert on some anonymous IP vandalism on the Sydney article and inadvertently accused you of vandalism. I'm terribly sorry, I didn't mean to! I think you may have accidentally reverted the same vandalism to the wrong version (still vandalised), and I reverted that without looking more carefully. Please accept my apologies! (the article looks OK now) Cnbrb (talk) 19:26, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry that I overlooked that piece of vandalism when I was editing. It is definetly not of your fault that this happened. No need to be sorry. It is good to know you took the time to point this out. Best regards. ~~ Sintaku Talk 21:30, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool! Happy editing. :-) Cnbrb (talk) 21:53, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please be more careful

[edit]

I have reverted this edit by you. That wasn't vandalism and if you had checked the edits by this IP user you would see that they were made in good faith. Nothing scares away a new user more than being slapped with a vandalism warning when they were trying to contribute in good faith. EconomicsGuy (talk) 20:40, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I have removed the template from his ip talk page, and explained the situation. I'll be more careful next time. ~~ Sintaku Talk 21:36, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Keep up the good anti-vandalism work and happy editing. EconomicsGuy (talk) 21:58, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

World Snooker Championship

[edit]

Please not revert edits without giving a reason. This is a form of vandalism. Betty Logan (talk) 05:24, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do not see your edit at that place. And it is vandalism to blank your notices on your page. If you have a good reason talk it out instead of launching an attack on me. Please talk this out on your page. ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:30, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You reverted the previous editors edit which removed a broken template. And you removed the notice I left on your page so maybe you should practice what you preach. By reverting the edit you damaged the article and did not give a reason for your edit. Please be responsible with your editing. Thankyou. Betty Logan (talk) 05:33, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had removed it because I had looked at your contributions and all I saw was this template on my page, no other contributions to the World Snooker Championship. Which I veiwed as an attack on myself. So I removed it and warned you. And I was reverted what I deemed as vandalism on that article. I had seen another fellow anti-vandal fighter had reverted the edit and some ip address had reverted his edit. ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have removed the template from your user page. I do not care if you do that as long as you are not a vandal it does not matter to me. ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:40, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you giving me warnings?

[edit]

Before someone marks this as vandalism, I want you to at least read this. Why is this vandalism? I don't understand? I am new to Wikipedia and I am trying to figure it out. PLEASE DO NOT MARK THIS AS VANDALISM. I'm am not doing anything wrong. I just need answers from somebody. Please help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.201.227 (talk) 01:13, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You deserve it. Look at your talk page, you are severe vandaliser. ~~ Sintaku Talk 01:16, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know I do. But how do I get started on Wikipedia? I have no friends. I am a loser. My best friend is a hat, and it's not my fault. I want to be smart like the people on Wikipedia and make money on Wikipedia like you.

You make a lot of money because when the people do the donation you get the ca-ching, you get the 6 million dollars or at least some of it because you work at Wikipedia and I want to move to Wikipedia and work there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.201.227 (talk) 01:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I live in Carlstown and fish a lot but I usually play Wikipedia after I catch myself a few fish and go to McDonalds but I wanna be like the rich people like you and do the Wikipedia as a professionel so I can make more money and win the six million. You think I can? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.201.227 (talk) 01:33, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Sintaku I would appreciate it if you would answer me on your computer but if you are busy I can understand. I just though we could talk a little you know? Like so that I could become a good wikipedia person like you are and have my own page for other people to talk on and say things to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.201.227 (talk) 01:34, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well Wikipedia is a charity organisation. None of the editors get paid. Not even the admins. :( 05:41, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay Mr. Sintaku. But I know you get paid a little, right? My cousin did the Wikipedia once and told me he got a check from the government for 300 dollars a few months later. And you spelled organization wrong. Are you an Englishman? Do you hate the Scottish? I am Scottish, do you hate me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.57.201.227 (talk) 17:05, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get paid on wikipedia. I would assume your cousin is pulling your leg. Thank you for pointing that out. I am a londoner. I do not hate the Scottish. I am proud to be British (hence including scotland). :) ~~ Sintaku Talk 21:34, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm vandalizing Wikipedia?

[edit]

I'm not sure I understand exactly what is wrong. I changed "They're" to "They are" because I thought it was more appropriate for the tone of the article. I marked it as a minor edit, and explained my rationale in change comment. I make minor spelling/style corrections frequently, but have never been accused of vandalizing before. I'm not trying to sound angry, I'm just really confused. Trainik (talk) 05:09, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have also read and it is more grammatical to keep it as "They're" than "They are". Initially I had put it as maybe an editing mistake, but when you repeated it I had assumed this may be possible vandalism. I am sorry to have mistakenly branded you as a vandal, but grammatically it is better for it to be "They're". ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:13, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I agree, but that's okay, it's really not a big deal. Is there a specific reason you argue that it's more grammatically correct? I just want to know so I can do it correctly in the future. Particularly, is there some guide that deals with this particular issue? (I don't remember seeing it in the Wiki style guide, but I could be wrong). I've always been taught that contractions are not appropriate in formal writing.Trainik (talk) 05:15, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Thank you for removing the notices from my talk page! Trainik (talk) 05:17, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was saying that it is grammatically wrong, but it is not vandalism... That is why I had removed those notices from your page. Also it was wrong for me to revert your edits for vandalism as they were not vandalism. I should have talked this out with you. ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:18, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, but I think you misunderstand me. I'm not upset with your changes. I'm just curious about why "They're" is more correct than "They are" in this situation. This is a grammatical question pure and simple.Trainik (talk) 05:21, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its good to know new editors are coming into wikipedia. I hope I have not discouraged you from editing at wikipedia. I just feel it sounds more right than the "They are" in this situation when you read the start of the sentence. ~~ Sintaku Talk 05:24, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Umm... I've been editing here for more than 3 years actually, so don't worry about scaring me off. Anyway, I've done some checking (admittedly not the highest courts of appeal in the English Language, but I think they're fine for this) http://www.informatics.sussex.ac.uk/department/docs/punctuation/node20.html http://www.yourdictionary.com/dictionary-articles/using-contractions.html

And while contractions are not forbidden in formal writing, they are mentioned as being generally inappropriate for academic/scholarly pursuits. Anyway, I don't really want to make any bigger deal out of this. I'd like to change it to "They are", but if you still object I won't do it, and we can happily leave it at that. Trainik (talk) 05:31, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I have said sorry for objecting. I am sorry if you had misunderstood me, I was saying that personally I think its wrong grammatically, but I had reverted it for vandalism. I am not here to check for grammar, so I probably did not read the whole thing and have a good idea of how to grammatically phrase this. It is totally up to you to edit it and change it. I am sorry if I had caused any problems by reverting your edit.~~ Sintaku Talk 05:36, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks. It's good to know there are some vigilant people out there. How do I avoid getting reverted in the future? Trainik (talk) 05:37, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think you should just state so in the summary, and as you get more and more well known as a contributer people will tend to not rollback your edits. Also joining rollback user's and combating vandalism puts you on a whitelist if I am correct, you can request rollback status here Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions. But read WP:ROLLBACK beforehand. ~~ Sintaku Talk 21:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you two stop whining about this? It's stupid.--68.57.201.227 (talk) 17:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is a healthy discussion. ~~ Sintaku Talk 21:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
