Women in Red are hosting a virtual editathon from 1 to 31 January 2018 on Fashion (designers, educators, tailors, and women's clothing in general), providing an opportunity for you to create or improve articles on past or present women who have designed fashionable clothing, footwear or accessories. You may also write articles about the items they have designed, the literature they have written or the companies and organizations to which they belong.
The virtual edit-a-thon allows enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in the work.
- The lists of redlinks below should provide inspiration.
- This essay on creating women's biographies might be helpful to newer editors.
- The main goals of the event are:
- to encourage inexperienced editors and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia by creating biographies of some of the world's most prominent women
- to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action on a specific area
- to support Wikipedia in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
- to promote the new/improved articles and images through social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)
