Islamic Modernism

[edit]

Islamic Modernism is NOT the same as Salafism --BoogaLouie (talk) 00:13, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ejaz, do you think you could defend your position on the talk page here before reverting text? Are you claiming that "Salafi modernism [groups] ... the Muslim Brotherhood and allied groups such as Pakistan's Jamaat-i Islam" (here) are Islamic modernist not revivalist? If so on what grounds? --BoogaLouie (talk) 18:12, 1 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As the problem is related to the naming.Let me clear it:

1).I also have the same opinion that Islamic modernism is not salafism neither I say it is actually salafi movement. As you can see in the article salafi movement, the creators and the editors of the article tried to explain that Mohammad Abduh, Rashid Rida, who are actually the Islamic modernist, were the notable individuals of the salafi movement. But I too along with you contradict with them. What I explain in this edit is:

(a)Some people named the islamic modernism of Mohammad Abduh and Rashid Rida as Salafi Movement...When I wrote " It is also called by some as Salafi movement" : I gave references http://www.oxfordislamicstudies.com/article/opr/t125/e2072

and http://www.jamestown.org/programs/tm/single/?tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=528&

The last one can be found in the article Salafi Movement too.In google you may find an article of britanica name salafi movement where they talked about the movement of md. abduh and R.rida.

(b)I said the islamic modernism influenced the salafism. It supports your openion.I it is not salafism itself nor it is salafi movement When I wrote " while others say it only influenced the latter" I also added a section in the article named "Influence on Salafism" . I provided its refrences from the site of Dr.Yasir Qadi, a world renowned american scholar who is an ex-salafi and from an article written by Shaykh Nuh keller.

http://muslimmatters.org/2014/04/22/on-salafi-islam-dr-yasir-qadhi/5/
http://www.masud.co.uk/ISLAM/nuh/salafi.htm

(2)On your question,"Are you claiming that "Salafi modernism [groups] ... the Muslim Brotherhood and ...........are Islamic modernist no revivalist, I would say , yes, this name (i.e., Salafi modernism), you may delete. Ejaz92 (talk) 19:12, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is generally agreed that Mohammad Abduh and Rashid Rida can be claimed as pioneers by both the as Salafi Movement and the Islamic modernist movement. But no where among the sources you've given (or anywhere else) can I find anyone saying that the Islamic Modernism and Salafi Modernism are the same. Nowhere can I find anyone saying that Muslim Brotherhood or Jama'at-e Islami are "Islamic Modernist". --23:35, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok If its correct that salafi modernism is a term for muslim brotherhood and jamat, then I am going to delete the name salafi modernism from the article.
Now is it ok? --Ejaz92 (talk) 04:51, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I still think you should let a native English speaker/writer go over the righting for grammar, agreement, consistency etc.
For example, It [Islamic modernism] has also been called salafi movement
is not grammatical.
I suggest: It has also been called Salafism by some[1][2] while others say Islamic Modernism only influenced Salafism.[3] --BoogaLouie (talk) 20:07, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok you can change but what is the restriction in using salafi movement instead of salafism? You may change but use salafi movement. As salafism is not a particular movement rather its a trend or it is a mixture of whabism, salafism and many other movement. But salafi movement was a movement which was inspired by the figures like md.abduh. But in case,if you say it inspired salafi movement it insirectly means it inspired salafism.

Ejaz92 (talk) 04:29, 4 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"what is the restriction in using salafi movement instead of salafism"? It is not grammatical in English. This is an English language encyclopedia.
Do you have any source saying there is a difference between Salafism and salafi movement? In English we consider them the same. --BoogaLouie (talk) 15:15, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Mufti akmal.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:16, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mufti Muhammad Akmal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.muftiakmal.net/mufti-muhammad-akmal. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article was a copyright violation. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. The page you copied said © 2015 . All Rights Reserved, so cannot be used. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. But in any case the copyrighted text is far too promotional to be useful for Wikipedia's purposes, so there would not be any point in your jumping through all the hoops that are required.

It was also written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. His own website is not a independent verifiable sources. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, or they will be deleted.

Not a reason for deletion, but titles and honorifics such as Mufti, Sir, Prince, President, doctor or professor are not used in article titles, just the name, eg Barack Obama, Albert Einstein

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Stop icon This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on other people again, as you did at Draft:Akhtar Raza Khan, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Fiddle Faddle 16:33, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As a direct result of your personal attack on LaMona two things have happened. An editor has nominated the draft for deletion, something I think may not happen, and I have removed the draft from those being actively reviewed pending your public apology to LaMona.
You may be upset, but you must be civil. You were entitled to suggest that they may be mistaken, if that is what you mean (whether they are nor are not), but telling the world that they are lying is intolerable. Fiddle Faddle 17:06, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Robert McClenon:,@LaMona:,@Timtrent: Well, I have apologized on the draft comment.I was not meant to insult anyone.I just tried to defend my edits. He was clearly rejecting the truth. My draft has reference for every words. And he gave an example for his support which was not true.I replied eith two visible sopport. And all these happened. By the way, I am really sorry for my use of the word"lying" which I am taking back.......

The draft have been nominated for deletion saying that I am not showing interest in improving it.I am politely requeating you to please see the revision history I added sources on 2nd december then on 25 november. At this time the draft has 14 verifiable sources. Again apologizing for my comment and hoping for the reconciliationEjaz92 (talk) 07:07, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I am sure the others will appreciate the apology. I recognise that English is probably not your first language, and thus your words may have had a stronger meaning than you intended. The deletion motion is very unlikely to succeed, even if it is not withdrawn.
LaMona disagrees with the referencing. I am not going to analyse it in detail, and I am not competent in the topic area. We have editors who are. I suggest you ask at Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam for someone to review the draft. Fiddle Faddle 09:19, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have made a request there on your behalf. Meanwhile please re-read WP:42 and let that be your guiding star. Be ruthless and compare each of your references against it. Fiddle Faddle 09:52, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Place the apology either in the AFC comments in the draft or on the talk page of LaMona, not just here, and the statement here that you are apologizing is just a marginal apology. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:21, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Akhtar Raza Khan, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Akhtar Raza Khan and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Akhtar Raza Khan during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Creation Protection

[edit]

The title is creation-protected or salted as a result of first a deletion discussion of a previous version of the article that deleted it and then a re-creation of the article with copyright violations. Before asking to have an admin lift the creation protection, it would be helpful to ask the community for help in improving the sourcing of the draft. It would also be useful to apologize to the reviewer whom you insulted. The creation protection only needs to be lifted when the draft is ready for acceptance. Hello, @Kautilya3: thanks for you advice. I am really glad to see that you personally taught me on my talk page. But I think your decision to undo my last edit should be reviewed. It took me 2 hour to search and provide links to the article. I had basically tried to improve the article by providing more sources. Plus I added the founders name.Ejaz92 (talk) 10:32, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sure we can review it. Please open a discussion on the talk page (of the article) and explain what you were trying to do. Without proper edit summaries, we wouldn't know. Also, please don't mix several edits at one go.
I didn't get the ping you gave above. {{ping|...}} only works if it is at the beginning of a post. For more general use, try {{U|...}}. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:24, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kautilya3: Please brother try to understand.I didn't do anything wrong. You may check it by compring the new edit with the previous one in edit history. Thanks for your advice. I will try to act on your advice. I will insert summery after every edit,in future. THANKS Ejaz92 (talk) 11:06, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you are trying to do. But this is not the way. You are stating opinions as facts, and replacing high-quality scholarly sources by opinion columns and blogs. Please read WP:RS and WP:NPOV carefully and gain experience with editing according to policy. You really need to open a discussion on the talk page and discuss your edits instead of edit-warring. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:17, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ministry of Labour and Employment. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Killing of David Ben Avraham, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Palestine. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
