[edit] History

The foundation stone of the college was laid on 4 August 1962 by former former President of Pakistan Field Marshal Muhammad Ayub Khan. The institution was established by the Dawood Foundation as Dawood College of Engineering and Technology. The college houses two purpose-built campuses.

Before 2007, Dawood College of Engineering functioned as an affiliated institute, initially with University of Karachi, then NED University of Engineering and Technology and then with Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. After this period, the decision was made by the government to upgrade the college to an autonomous institution and as a a result the College was granted a Degree-Awarding status by a Presidential Ordinance on 31 October 2007. Later on, the Degree-Awarding status was approved by the National Assembly and Senate of Pakistan on 3 November 2010.[1]
