A Google Developer Expert (GDE) is a person recognized by Google as having exemplary expertise in one or more of their Google Developer products. GDEs are awarded through the Google Developer Experts program established and administered by Google Inc.. GDEs have a tenure of one year which can be extended through re-interview.

History
The Google Developer Experts program initially started in Japan as the Google Developer API Expert program.[1]. In July 2012 Google renamed it to Google Developers Expert program and making it available to developers around the world.[2]. In 2014 the official Google Developers Expert site started referring to the program as Google Developer Experts[3]

Locating a GDE
With the introduction of a site dedicated to GDEs, it is now easier to locate an GDE from a specific country and from a specific area of expertise. The need to contact an GDE can be user specific. Among other purposes, the GDEs might be contacted to get assistance with developing using Google products. Anyone can use the Google Maps form on the GDE website to locate a GDE by location and/or by expertise.
A listing of all the GDE awardees is available on GDE website. The website is maintained by Google and GDEs it provides information on different GDEs including how to contact them. The list at https://developers.google.com/experts/ and expert google.
