Rajajinagar is a residential locality in the west of Bangalore. It's one of the zones of BBMP. It is bordered by Basaveshwaranagar, Malleshwaram, Mahalakshmipuram alias West of Chord road 2nd stage, Mahalakshmi Layout, Vijayanagar and Rajajinagar Industrial Suburb.

Description

Rajajinagar is divided into two stages, first and second. Rajajinagar 3rd Block used to be called Yednoor Dinne and 4th Block used to be called Siddaram Dinne. Rajajinagar 1st stage is further divided into 6 blocks from north to south. The 4th block is further divided into the 4th M block and the 4th N block. The other names of some of the areas constituting Rajajinagar are Subramanyanagara, Kethmaranahalli, Nagapura, Shivanahalli or Shivanagara, Manjunathanagara, Mariyappanapalya, Prakashnagara, Srirampuram, LN puram etc. A four-lane grade separator makes it easy for vehicular traffic to move out of Rajajinagar towards Okalipuram.

The area to the west of Chord Road was considered to be a part of Rajajinagar, but most maps today show that area as a part of Basaveshwaranagar. Chord Road is one of the longest roads in Bangalore connecting Yeswanthpur through Mahalakshmi Layout, Rajajinagar, Vijaynagar, R. P. C. Layout and Attiguppe to Mysore Road - about 8 kilometres in length.

Rajajinagar was named after C. Rajagopalachari - Rajaji, for short - the great freedom fighter from Tamil Nadu, who was also the first non-British or "native" Governor-General of India.
