TownePlace Suites, a division of the Marriott International hotel chain, is an extended-stay hotel chain generally catering to a more mid-priced market than its more upscale sister brand, Residence Inn, also operated by Marriott International.

History[edit]

The first location was officially launched in Newport News, Virginia on February 23, 1997. There are 215 TownePlace Suites operating across the United States. In December 2010, TownePlace Suites entered the Canadian market, with the opening of a location in Sudbury, Ontario.

Rooms are in all-suite configurations with kitchen, work and sitting areas, and at least one bedroom. Most locations also have business work areas with WiFi access and printers, as well as coin-laundry facilities.

Other generally standard features include an exercise gym, pool, a daily breakfast buffet and a convenience-store-like area dubbed "In a Pinch", mostly selling snack foods and sundries.

Competitors[edit]

TownePlace competes with other extended-stay chains such as Mainstay Suites and Candlewood Suites, which are not operated by Marriott International.
