==Big Secrets==
A '''[[Template:prod|proposed deletion]]''' template has been added to the article [[Big Secrets]], suggesting that it be deleted according to the [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed deletion]] process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's [[Wikipedia:Criteria for inclusion|criteria for inclusion]], and the deletion notice explains why (see also "[[Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not|What Wikipedia is not]]" and [[Wikipedia:Deletion policy|Wikipedia's deletion policy]]). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the <code><nowiki>{{dated prod}}</nowiki></code> notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on [[Talk:Big Secrets|its talk page]]. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the [[WP:PROD|proposed deletion process]], the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion criteria]] or it can be sent to [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion|Articles for Deletion]], where it may be deleted if [[Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]] to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{tl|db-author}} to the top of the page. <!-- Template:PRODWarning --> [[User:Pastordavid|Pastordavid]] 15:59, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

==Adbusters==

A tag has been placed on [[:Adbusters]], requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the [[WP:CSD#Articles|criteria for speedy deletion]], because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G11|the general criteria for speedy deletion]], particularly item 11, as well as [[WP:SPAM|the guidelines on spam]].

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> on the top of the article and leave a note on [[Talk:Adbusters|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any [[Wikipedia:Citing sources|citations]] from [[Wikipedia:Reliable sources|reliable sources]] to ensure that the article will be [[Wikipedia:Verifiability|verifiable]]. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.<!-- Template:Spam-warn --> [[User:Kyaa the Catlord|Kyaa the Catlord]] ([[User talk:Kyaa the Catlord|talk]]) 07:09, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

==AfD nomination of [[Benevolent dictator]]==
[[Benevolent dictator]], an article you created, has been nominated for [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion|deletion]]. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that [[Benevolent dictator]] satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "[[Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not|What Wikipedia is not]]" and the [[Wikipedia:Deletion policy|Wikipedia deletion policy]]). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Benevolent dictator{{{order|}}}]] and please be sure to [[WP:SIG|sign your comments]] with four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>). You are free to edit the content of [[Benevolent dictator]] during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. == Canada vs Dominion of Canada ==

Hey there, in trying to get some sources for a discussion on a wiki talk page I (very) recently joined, I came upon your website. The discussion is "What is the official/legal/whatever name of Canada?". It seems the article [[Canada]] has been locked for editing for over a month because of something like this discussion, though the discussion I joined is on the talk page for [[Name of Canada]] here [[Talk:Name_of_Canada#.22Title.22_vs_Official_Name_.2F_Long_form_name]]. Since your webpage has an FAQ on the subject (with a quote from a prime minister saying that canada should no longer be referred to as "Dominion of Canada"), I thought you might be interested in brining your knowledge to the table (though it does seem to have wasted a lot of time for several people). Cheers. [[User:RobHar|RobHar]] ([[User talk:RobHar|talk]]) 09:04, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

==AfD nomination of [[Master Higgins]]==
I have nominated [[Master Higgins]], an article you created, for [[Wikipedia:Deletion policy|deletion]]. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Master Higgins{{{order|}}}]]. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.<!-- Template:AFDWarning --> [[User:TTN|TTN]] ([[User talk:TTN|talk]]) 00:07, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

==Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Paul VI 4.jpg==
Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Paul VI 4.jpg]]'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at [[Wikipedia:Non-free content]] carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at [[Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline]] is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Images/media|criteria for speedy deletion]]. If you have any questions please ask them at the [[Wikipedia:Media copyright questions|media copyright questions page]]. Thanks for uploading or contributing to '''[[:Image:Kingzog.jpg]]'''. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "[[Special:Contributions/{{PAGENAME}}|my contributions]]" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. == Replaceable fair use Image:Mayorwest.gif ==
[[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|32px|left|Replaceable fair use]]
Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Mayorwest.gif]]'''. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]], but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our [[Wikipedia:Fair use criteria|first fair use criterion]] in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

# Go to [[:Image:Mayorwest.gif|the media description page]] and edit it to add {{tlx|di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, '''without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template'''.
# On [[Image talk:Mayorwest.gif|the image discussion page]], write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission|requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license]], or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Agnes MacPhail

Busy talk page! Popular, popular. Having fun with copyright I see.

Being a poly sci student and all, I'm curious how you claim that Agnes MacPhail and Joy MacPhail are related.

From the Joy MacPhail article:

"Contrary to rumours, she is not the great-granddaughter of Agnes MacPhail, the first woman ever elected to the Canadian Parliament. Agnes MacPhail never married nor had children."

Yet you reverted my change:

2005-05-05 00:17:27 J.J. (she did have a grandaughter)

Then that was reverted by an anonymous fix:

2005-08-06 18:44:21 24.101.105.237 (Agnes Macphail did not have any children, and therefore no grandchildren or great-grandchildren.)

I'm curious if you have any evidence of the two being related, and if so, go ahead and change it back. Otherwise, what the hell?!

Greetings. I just started the Wikipedia:Image recreation requests project, and I thought you might be interested. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I got your name from the list at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Graphic Artists.) Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 03:12, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)

A picture you uploaded has been listed at Wikipedia:Image sleuthing. Please help us out by adding the source for this image and its license. Regards, Thuresson 09:16, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Also, you have uploaded Image:Dayan.jpg with the notice "used with permission" without saying who gave permission. Now listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. Thuresson 13:00, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Also, you have uploaded Image:Statofliberty.jpg without either a license or your source. Please add this as quickly as possible. Thuresson 07:57, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Also, and I'm sorry to annoy you again, you have uploaded Image:Alechome.jpg without either a license or a source. Please add this as quickly as possible, Thuresson 08:23, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Were also working on Image:Cdgaulle.jpg, Image:Chavez2.jpg, Image:Chavez4.jpg and Image:Chavez6.jpg right now at Wikipedia:Image sleuthing. We'd really appreciate it if you lend us a hand and either post on the image page or the project page where you found the images. Also, you say "used with permission" on two of them. Can you let us know where you got the permission from? As in the case of the images above, we really need copyright information or many of these pictures could be deleted from Wikipedia's servers. At the moment, many of us are scouring the internet for clues as to the origins of these images. You could save us a lot of time. Thanks, — Asbestos | Talk 15:38, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi J.J.,

Just to let you know that your caricature Image:Villianc.PNG is up for reuse as Pic of the Day on the 1st of April (not quite an accident, I thought he might make a nice April Fool prankster too). Irish judicial roles

Hi JJ,

Prior to independence Ireland had robes that AFAIK were identical with those used in England. The structures of the courts were similar, having been reformed, I think, in the 1870s (If my memory serves me right. It is a long time since I read about the topic). At its apex was the Lord Chancellor of Ireland. After the formation of the Irish Free State a new courts system was created, with a Supreme Court of Justice created (not to be confused with the courts of the later Éire and the Republic of Ireland where the upper court was called simply the Supreme Court. The Lord Chancellorship was abolished, as was the Lord Chief Justice of Ireland and replaced by a Chief Justice of Ireland.

Initially an attempt was made to design a new gaelic-looking style of court dress and a new form of address for judges. Neither caught on however. I think one judge stubbornly kept wearing his new style dress, but the rest either never got replacement robes or abandoned wearing them. All simply continued with the simple black silk robes, with barrister wigs. That continues to be the case today, though some politicians (notably a character called Willie O'Dea) have tried to get the wigs abolished; wigs have been optional rather than mandatory for barristers since the 1990s, through most barristers, particularly younger ones, continue to wear their wigs.

If you want see images of the Chief Justice in his robes, look at photographs of Irish presidential inaugurations of 1938, 1945, 1952, 1959, 1966, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1983 and 1990. In 1997 the new president, Mary McAleese regrettably banned formal dress from any presidential functions, so in 1997 and 2004, chief justices swore in presidents bare-headed and in 1997 robeless. I hope that helps. FearÉIREANN\(talk) 20:36, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wikimania 2006

In the course of informal discussions at Wikimania in Frankfurt the possibility of having Wikimania 2006 in Vancouver was raised. What makes Canada desirable for such a meeting is the capacity to draw delegates from the United States. For many overseas delegates, however, U.S. visa requirements make that country less attractive. All else being equal, Europeans see Vancouver as a more interesting Canadian city to visit than Toronto, the only other Canadian city to receive significant consideration.

Preliminary bids from various cities need to be made by Sept. 30, 2005. A short list will be drawn from those bids. Is there enough interest and energy to put together such a conference in Vancouver for August 2006? The people in Frankfurt put on a tremendous gathering, with a core organizational group of about a dozen people. Some 400 people attended from 52 different countries.

I expect that a North American Wikimania could be a little smaller, but we would still need a suitable facility. It would be good to know that such a facility is available for a conference; the type of youth hostel facility that was used in Frankfurt does not exist in North America. What would be the cost of hosting such a conference at UBC?

I'm looking for interest and commitment. To that end I am proposing a Vancouver meetup for Saturday, Sept. 24. If someone has a reasonably accesible place for such a meeting please let me know. (I live in Richmond, but something in the city of Vancouver would be more appropriate.)

I am spammiong this to all Vancouver area Wikipedians that I can find. Please reply to my talk page. Eclecticology 21:50:16, 2005-09-03 (UTC)

Next Gen top games lists

Sure, I can send those top games lists but you'll have to give me a few days. I have to browse around for the old issues I have lying around in a box somewhere. I'll post them to you to once I find them.

--Mitaphane 03:42, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I decided since I was going to pull up the Next Gen articles that I might as well make Wikipedia articles on it. You'll find the Top 100 list here. I'll post up the top 50 article when I have some more free time.

--Mitaphane 02:44, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Top 50 article added to the Wikipedia too. Have at it.

--Mitaphane 01:21, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I know. The way I made the list was that I put the series if the article explicitly said that. If it mentioned a particular entry(e.g. Virtua Fighter 2) that's what I would write down. I know some don't make any sense. For example in the top 100 they listed Sonic Series in the list, but in the top 50 they used Sonic 1, 2, and 3. I guess what it comes down to is that the people who made the first list weren't the exact same people.

And as much as they tried to avoid it, both the lists smell of what was popular at the time. You'll notice they list Mario 64 seperate from the rest of the series. When the first Top 100 article was made the N64 had just recently been released and everyone was estactic about Mario 64. 2 years later they just grouped it in with the rest of the series and made the Zelda series, which just had the recent addition of the smash hit Zelda Ocarina of Time, the number 1 entry.

I said it at the time, and mentioned in wikipedia article as I thought it relevant, that if 2 entries in 2 lists differ significantly(e.g. Zelda & Mario titles) and another consistantly maintains it's high position(e.g. Tetris) than it should be the consistant entry that gets the top spot. It was nice to see that your findings on your webpage, considering a much larger number of lists, came to the same conclusion.

Hi! I just added a requested image to the list, and looking over the listed Graphic Artist wikipedians, you seem to be the resident expert on making cartoon style images. You work is reallly great. Would you consider doing the image of "a tiny man that lives inside a human head and sees whatever the human sees?" for Cartesian materialism? Request

Hi J.J.,

My name is Fernanda Viégas and I have been studying Wikipedia for a while now (you can see a paper I published on the subject here). I would like to ask you a few questions about your activities as a Wikipedia illustrator. I am fascinated by the pictorial side of Wikipedia and it would be great to hear about this community from you. I'm planning on talking with as many active members of this community as possible. Would you be available for an informal interview? Thanks, Fernanda.

Thanks for replying to my request. Basically, I’d like to ask you questions about how you started contributing to Wikipedia, how much of your contributions are visually based (images, illustrations, etc), and what your sense of the “visual community” is in Wikipedia. We can do this either by email or on my talk page, whichever works better for you.

It would get great if I could get your input by next week. Thanks! Fernanda

Hi J.J., thanks for agreeing to participate in the study. I have been emailing the questionnaire to other participants and it would be great if I could do the same with you. Can you please let me know how I can reach you via email? You can use the "Email this user" feature on my page. Thanks again! — Fernanda 20:18, 4 April 2006 (UTC) | talk[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Japaneseroyalfamily.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Japaneseroyalfamily.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Nomination for Delisting (Mad Scientist)

Hello. Very recently I was pointed out to the "courtesy call" of informing the original nominator if his/her image is being nominated for delisting. I admit, I was somewhat aware of the practice, but I seemed to miss the boldfaced notice saying that it was necessary. At the time of the nominations, I was also very busy and unable to continue perusing Wikipedia. Just now I read the comments under the subject's page and the FPC Discussion page and I felt obliged to respond. In no way were my inactions intentional and I apologise for the delay in my responding and the inconvenience it catalysed. Thank You. -- AJ24 01:42, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Hiya! I was wondering, as an admin, if you could do me a favor, perhaps in exchange for a past favor. I've taken to the UNATCO article. I'm trying to decruft, remove all the speculation, and add references to it. Upon looking at other Deus Ex pages, I see that there's some work ahead of me. Ideally, I think a lot of these articles could be condensed into one.

To get to my request, I wanted to resurrect a old version of an article into my user space that A Man In Black deleted. I would ask him but according to his talk page, he's on break. If this is possible, I would appreciate it much. --Mitaphane talk 03:18, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What basis do you have for saying that "fashionista" and the like are references to "Sandinista"? After all, "ista" is the most normal Spanish ending for anything ideological: comunista, capitalista, fascista, nazista, (and for a few others named after individuals in Latin America) chavista, peronista, fidelista, etc. - Jmabel | Talk 18:14, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Thatcher.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Thatcher.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image tagging for Image:Joenlai.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Joenlai.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Request for Cartoon

Hey J.J.

Sorry to pester you - you must presumably get loads of requests for your artistic talents!

I'm in the process of setting up a UK Lib Dem political blog, with the title "Hug a Hoodie" (based on a comment by David Cameron, who said that chavs just need a bit more love). I've been looking for a logo for my site, and I came across your Chav picture, which I think is brilliant. I'm wondering if it would be OK for me to use it. (I know you've freely licensed it, but I wanted to check before using it for any kind of political reason.)

If you're prepared to help, I'd like to request a version in Lib Dem colours, yellow and black, and with a Lib Dem yellow rosette, so that I can have a unique version for my site. (Or if I could just have permission to alter it myself in photoshop, if you don't have the time?)

Best wishes,

Jonny Wright, KrJDub05 10:27, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Sillyegg.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sillyegg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -SCEhardT 04:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics Lab

I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastik talk 02:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that the articles Hereditary monarchy and Order of succession have been suggested for merger. Since you are the creator of Hereditary monarchy I would like to know if you think they should be merged. Unspecified source for Image:Ramseyclark-portrait.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ramseyclark-portrait.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:23, 6 January 2007 (UTC). Fair use rationale for Image:Saddamsons.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Saddamsons.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Prophetyahweh.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

AfD nomination of I'm not Herb

I've nominated I'm not Herb, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that I'm not Herb satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/I'm not Herb and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of I'm not Herb during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ~ Wikihermit 20:19, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Bowflex Machine

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bowflex Machine, by GreenJoe (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bowflex Machine seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bowflex Machine, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Bowflex Machine itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:37, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Meiji.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Meiji.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 15:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Average Joe Edit

Hey, I made some pretty major edits to Average Joe as part of the Wikification wikiproject the other day. I think I left the content pretty much in tact, but I don't know much about the subject matter. I just thought I'd let you know in case you need to straighten up any facts or anything. American Empire

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article American Empire, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Non-free use disputed for Image:Wdogart.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Wdogart.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added rationale details to this image and reduced the image resolution to comply with fair use guidelines, however the source is unspecified. As you uploaded the original, could you let me know where it came from, or edit the image details yourself if you prefer. Many thanks. – Tivedshambo (talk) 17:18, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Hallies.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Hallies.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for Image:Goldenpalace.PNG

Replaceable fair use Image:Donitz.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Donitz.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. Unspecified source for Image:Larrycampbell.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Larrycampbell.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then
