When you suggested that I sign my messages, was it because I didn't sign my last one? I thought I had. I included four tildes and the preview copy had my name and signature in it... Anyhow, I hope you or someone will review my entry because I can't wait to see it collaborated on (or no longer say it has yet to be reviewed). I tried to do as much Wikipedia research before posting to make sure I edited and stylized correctly. There's a lot to review so I can only assume I did some things wrong. Hi Calaka. I see articles about the BBC, radio Caroline , radio london , radio Veronoca, offshore radiostations, etc etc. It is Radio rainbow the voice of peace, well known around the globe , i added listeners reports from around the world, news on independant radiosites , and you can listen direct yourself via lots of links , so what can i do more, this article should just be in wikipedia because its a big movement and i listen a lot myself. But i am sure you agree and this article will stay. feel free to make it better with photo's from the sites etc. you are so experienced!

Thanks for the welcome. It is odd that, even though I have been editing Wikipedia articles for several years (off and on, with several different sign-ons, which I tend to forget), I have never created a new article. I've wanted to, but have never been able to summon the wherewithall to do so. I was a proofreader for many years so most of my contributions thus far have been in grammar, spelling, and cleaning up awkward sentence structure. I also have done a little translation work (I'm still a relatively fluent French reader, though I no longer speak the language well enough to even have a decent conversation).

Hello, someone moved 3 pages of the singles pages that I've created to another pages, for example, Mia (Paulina Rubio Song) from her album Pau-Latina is now redirected to Pau-Latina album. Deleted article

Hi Calaka,

I noticed a page I started has been deleted for reasons of copyright violation. Unfortunately I cannot access the page anymore to see to which part this accusation is refering to. Anyhow, I am not planning to put the page back on wikipedia, because I cannot find enough notable written references, but I'd like to save the contents for myself. Are you capable of recovering the deleted page with the title 'Poekoelan' written by myself? If you can, please forward it to me.

Question Concerning Copyright Laws

Hello Calaka. PBS sent me a message, warning me that a section (more specifically the second section concerning the presidents of the council) under the English Council of State could possibly be a violation of copyright laws. Question

Hello Calaka,

thank you for welcoming me, it was a relief that there is somebody to talk to. I realized that a lot of new people like me ask the same kind of questions regarding the tags they get on top their new articles - nevertheless, I have a similar one:

I created the Metal Machine Trio site and got two tags: the "this article is new" tag and a "this article may not meet the notability guidelines". Well, after that I improved my article to meet the notability guidelines. The article should be sufficient informative and have very good references by now. I indeed tried to prove almost every single little fact I put in there, in such a detailed way I even did not in my thesis for my masters in sociology. I was kind of proud and throught, this is a quite good article now, even for a wiki newbie.

Well, in the meantime the "this article is new" tag is gone, but the "this article may not meet the notability guidelines" is still there. This is a bit frustrating for me and I would like to ask you for an interpretation, what that means. Is the article still not good enough? Or do I just have to wait until somebody decides otherwise. I have seen articles on Wikipedia that have this tag for about two years... Is there something I can do?

Citing References - How do you handle information provided by the person themselves?

Hi Calaka, I am producing a WIKI page for Ervin Somogyi who has produced steel string guitars for 40 years and written over 100 articles on guitars.

He provided me with information about himself that was uncited.

Some of the information is autobiographical; he sent me an email with his early life history.

Some of the information can be cited but isn't; he referenced about 30 albums and artists, and exhibitions at musuems, etc.

I think I can work with him for citing things that were public exhibitions, etc., but how do I handle unpublished information that he sent in an email about his early life? Does it need to be verified?

Finally - how exactly do I upload images?

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Yes! If you're thinking of going through the list and making sure each of those is either an article, stub, or redirect. I'll have you note that many of those are actually old names that link to new ones (for example, Macroclemys redirects to Macrochelys), so a lot of it is simple redirect/taxobox updating. Just having looked at Macroclemys, it appears there are several variances of the name in that database, some including a reference, some including a reference with a comma, and several with incorrect references. But-- definitely a useful tool for an activity if I ever get bored (which doesn't happen often, otherwise I'd have finished going through the plant articles without images). Missing Topics List WAS Hello! Long time no see! + Qn/Help.

First, sorry for the late answer.

I'm sorry to tell you that I've compiled my missing topics lists mostly manually for various reasons. One is that my sources are mostly books, not websites, and I input the content to various master lists, use a macro to add brackets and check if the subject is already covered. Later I add templates and eventually recheck text for any typos before updating the pages.

When I first begun the missing topics lists I did ask for help in couple of WP pages but nothing was forthcoming (personally I suspect that it had something to do with the fact that my lists do not fall into any of the projects mostly concerned with popular culture subjects). And some of the scripts I did find apparently didn't work in my outdated computer. So, yes, I resorted to non-automated editing for lack of anything better to use.

Creating taxonomy related articles at a fast pace

I'm soooo sorry, but i was taking a unexpected longer leave of absence then I would have hoped. Unfortunately it is much simpler then you think. All the info comes from the title of the articles themselves, not from any external sources. If you look at the articles, you'll notice the only difference is in certain things. What I would do is take a list of species under a certain genus or family and tell the script what needs to be replaced using the article's title it tould it to make. I've manadged to take the picture from the english article for my french version. Indeed I was trying to use the same link as the english version for the french one but the picture just wouldn't show itself. I downloaded the picture and hosted it to the wikipedia french version and it worked. now I'm seeing that my signature is not working there. The link is in red while my page does exist. Missing articles

Hey buddy. I'm going back to doing more mass stubbing again. If people don't like stubs its tough. We have a tremendous amount to cover, literally tens of millions of articles missing. Somehow these articles need starting and nurturing. So you can count me on board the missing articles project as a very active member, At present I'm ploughing through Antarctica. HI! Oh of course I won't stop my DYKs. I'll still be expanding some articles. I'm working through User:Dr. Blofeld/DYK A-Z country challenge at the moment with Nvvchar and Rosistep which is rather challenging but at the end of it we'll have written about every entity. I'm pretty sure I'm written about most of them at one point or other but not all for DYK. Glad you enjoyed Pomegranate production. I have a Guinea related one in the pipeline.. Well maybe I won't be mass creating them like in the old days, I'll try to add some content and sources but I really think wikipedia is better off having some content on a topic than none at all, as long as it is sourced and encyclopedic... Question regarding "advert" and "notable" tags you applied

I'm new to all but reading Wikipedia articles, and I have a question about two tags you added on 13 apr 2010 to the article about the novel The Blue Mountain, by Meir Shalev.

I see nothing in the article that would warrant it being flagged as an advertisement. I also believe that the book is indeed "notable" due to its commercial success and the fact of it having been translated from the original Hebrew into twelve other languages:

I'm curious what to do with references behind paywalls. I've found several articles that have quotes lifted from paysites where I have subscriptions (like the New York Times). I see that the quotes are correct, but not all wikipedia readers will be able to verify it. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

George A. Porterfield

Thanks for the kudo on the article. I had not set out to write a page about Porterfield. I looked at the page on the Battle of Philippi since we are approaching the 150th anniversary of that American Civil War battle. The article is B class and looks like it does not need much, if any, editing. But I noticed there was no page on the Confederate commander. He was a colonel and did not progress beyond that rank so that may be why he had attracted no interest to date. I found it interesting that he was one of the last surviving officers of the Mexican-American War. Thanks for the suggestion on DYK. I am not sure exactly how to approach that, perhaps that the Confederate commander at that battle was one of the last surviving Mexican-American War veterans at his death in 1919? Pia de' tolomei: Original article in Italian has accidentally disappeared after translating it into English

I'll be very glad if you be so kind to help me see where the original Italian article about Pia de' Tolomei is hidden.

I've translated it into English and obviously made something wrong since now the article appears in English only and that wasn't what I meant.

I'm sure there's a back-up for the original Italian article somewhere and that it's possible to restore it, I just don't know how.

a heads-up

I just came across Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Guantanamo Bay Detainees.

Please see parallel work I did here.

I saw your suggestion that the the detainee assessment briefs might be sufficient to consider the captives to be notable. Personally I agree. Some of the individuals for whom we now have red-links once had articles.

How did this happen? In part I think the deletion of these articles was due to an evolution in standards and policies. Of the first 20 or so articles nominated for deletion in 2005, 2006 and early 2007 19 were kept or de facto kept as "no consensus". But this was prior to the creation of BLP as a policy. Further, more contributors were willing to consider summaries written by military officers to be "reliable sources".

In my opinion many of these nominations were highly questionable -- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammed Nasim (Guantanamo captive 849) being a case in point. I think it is an instance of nominator, delete voters, and closing administrator, failing to read the articles, their references, or the counter-arguments offered in the {{afd}}.

Mainstream newspapers quoted from the DABs of a minority of the captives. In my opinion that MSM coverage should be sufficient to satisfy the most extreme of the challengers.

More focussed sources like The Long War Journal have quoted from a larger number of DABs. Unfortunately, the LWJ is very biased in the way it quotes, completely avoiding all exculpatory material. So it goes.

Raoultella planticola -

I am wondering if you could help me. I am very interested in your above entry (well done!) and, from that, discerned that there has been one documented case associating this with panncreatitis - although not necessarily causally. I have a patient with both conditions (as well as Haemolytic Escherichia coli).

Ketone's Page

I'm not familiar with editing pages, so I didn't want to mess it up, but your page on ketone's needs some work. Specifically, I noticed that the information on IUPAC naming is outdated, and a little ambiguous. The functional group is named by dropping the "e" off the parent compound, but the "-an" remains in the name, ex: cyclohexane to cyclohexanone". Also, names such as acetone are considered the common names, but not the proper IUPAC names. The correct IUPAC names include identification of the ketone location, and proper terminology referring to length of the hydrocarbon chain. The current wording could be confusing to those who do not have a background in organic chemistry. See www.iupac.org for the most recent information on naming. Compromised title

When searching for "Thin Layer Extraction" one is only redirected to the article "Liquid-Liquid Extraction" that refers to "Thin Layer Extraction" through a dead link. There exists apparently no article by the name "Thin Layer Extraction" to be edited. I have prepared an extended article on "Thin Layer Extraction" and I am unable to create it under this name. Quarterly focus - GA nominations

I would like to take some time on this first quarterly to evaluate the state of the project. We have the benefit of having a relatively-small group of articles that are, for the most part, relatively non-controversial. Additionally, for the majority of our articles, it may indeed be possible to create an article that reflects a significant proportion of the published literature. This is quite distinct from other projects.

However, it appears we only have 5 GAs (Anatomy, Brain, Clitoris, Human tooth, and Leonardo da Vinci) and 4 FAs (Immune system, Hippocampus, Cerebellum, and Resurrectionists in the United Kingdom), none of which relate to purely anatomical items, which constitute most of our mass. By 'anatomical items' I mean muscles, nerves, bones, blood vessels, veins, foramina, and so on, that constitute the vast majority of our articles. In fact, we only have one 'system' (Immune system) at FA class, and none at GA class. We indeed only have 70 articles out over 4,000 at B-class. This scarcity is, I believe, for the following reasons: (1) lack of model articles (2) lack of appropriate guidelines, and (3) general sparsity of sourcing on many articles. How may these be addressed?

1. Nominating good articles. In addition to suspensory muscle of the duodenum I will be working on Mylohyoid muscle, Genioglossus, Foramen spinosum and an as-yet undecided article.
2. Revamping the MEDMOS guidelines for Anatomical articles to make them more appropriate. That discussion is here.
3. Using books as sources. Books are readily available in libraries and have the superb quality of being able to aggregate information, which can be used to source thousands of anatomical articles.
4. Collateralising sourcing. Anatomical sources often refer to several structures in a single source. Therefore an editor on one article could quickly add a source to another two articles in a related topic. This incremental approach will hopefully accrue for future editors
5. Tagging articles for cleanup, to let future editors know to use sources
6. Templates, which will soon be available, to post on the wall of new editors thanking them for their edits and encouraging the use of sources.

I hope that we are able to revitalise this project. Wikipedia has the capacity to become an excellent resource for anatomical information. Quarterly focus - Where to edit?

On any given week we have at least 4-10 editors making significant contributions to our articles, with probably more than double this making minor edits. As an editor, I am often wondering: with so many articles, where to start? There is so much to be done (as always, on Wikipedia!), and I aim here to provide a comprehensive list of venues within our project. If I've missed any, please let us know on the WikiProject Anatomy talk page.

An editor might edit:

• By importance. A user can use our assessment table to view articles by their importance and class. The vital articles project provides a list of designated 'Vital articles' for Wikipedia.
• By popularity. One way to edit is to edit the most popular pages -- the majority of these need help, and editing is sure to bring benefit to many users.
• By need. There is always cleanup that needs to be done, whether commenting on mergers, adding infoboxes or adding images. A cleanup list of all tagged articles is now available here: [1]
• By interest. A series of inter-project categories has been developed to help facilitate inter-Wiki and inter-professional collaboration. These categories sort our articles into organs, system, gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and several other categories. This should offer a buffet of articles for any interested editors! See here for more details.
• By topic. Wikipedia's anatomical categories may provide impetus, as may editing a suite of related-articles, using a parent article such as ear for direction. A collection of series are slowly being rolled-out, including one for epithelia and for articles about the gastrointestinal wall, which also act as groups of topics. Templates, as documented on our main page, provide a similar categorisation.
• By demand. Discussions relating to Anatomy are frequent occurrences on the talk pages for WPMED and WP:ANATOMY. Such topics almost always cry out for more editing.
• By recent changes. One way to choose a destination for editing is to check the recent changes, revert vandalism, integrate/source edits, or generally collaborate in improving articles that are receiving contributions from other editors. This can be found in the here.
• By chance. A user is always welcome to improve articles that they randomly 'bump into' by Wiki-surfing or by having bumped for other reasons into a particular article or topic that needs improvement

Spotlight - Simplified article translation

Wikiproject Medicine started translating simplified articles in February 2014. We now have 45 simplified articles ready for translation, of which the first on African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness has been translated into 46 out of ~100 languages. This list does not include the 33 additional articles that are available in both full and simple versions.

Our goal is to eventually translate 1,000 simplified articles. This includes:

• WHO's list of Essential Medicines[2]
• Neglected tropical diseases[3]
• Key diseases for medical subspecialties like: oncology, emergency medicine (list), anatomy, internal medicine, surgery, etc.

We are looking for subject area leads to both create articles and recruit further editors. We need people with basic medical knowledge who are willing to help out. This includes to write, translate and especially integrate medical articles.

For those going to London in a month's time (or those already nearby) there will be at least one event for all medical editors, on Thursday August 7th. See the event page, which also summarizes medicine-related presentations in the main conference. Please pass the word on to your local medical editors.

Integration progress

There has previously been some resistance against translation into certain languages with strong Wikipedia presence, such as Dutch, Polish, and Swedish.
What was found is that thre is hardly any negative opinion about the the project itself; and any such critique has focused on the ways that articles have being integrated. For an article to be usefully translated into a target-Wiki it needs to be properly Wiki-linked, carry proper citations and use the formatting of the chosen target language as well as being properly proof-read. Certain large Wikis such as the Polish and Dutch Wikis have strong traditions of medical content, with their own editorial system, own templates and different ideas about what constitutes a good medical article. For example, there are not MEDRS (Polish,German,Romanian,Persian) guidelines present on other Wikis, and some Wikis have a stronger background of country-specific content.

• Swedish
  Translation into Swedish has been difficult in part because of the amount of free, high quality sources out there already: patient info, for professionals. The same can be said for English, but has really given us all the more reason to try and create an unbiased and free encyclopedia of medical content. We want Wikipedia to act as an alternative to commercial sources, and preferably a really good one at that.
  Through extensive collaborative work and by respecting links and Sweden specific content the last unintegrated Swedish translation went live in May.
• Dutch
  Dutch translation carries with it special difficulties, in part due to the premises in which the Dutch Wikipedia is built upon. There is great respect for what previous editors have created, and deleting or replacing old content can be frowned upon. In spite of this there are success stories: Anafylaxie.
• Polish
  Translation and integration into Polish also comes with its own unique set of challenges. The Polish Wikipedia has long been independent and works very hard to create high quality contentfor Polish audience. Previous translation trouble has lead to use of unique templates with unique formatting, not least among citations. Add to this that the Polish Wikipedia does not allow template redirects and a large body of work is required for each article.

• Arabic
  The Arabic Wikipedia community has been informed of the efforts to integrate content through both the general talk-page as well as through one of the major Arabic Wikipedia facebook-groups: مجتمع ويكيبيديا العربي, something that has been heralded with great enthusiasm.

Integration guides

Integration is the next step after any translation. Despite this it is by no means trivial, and it comes with its own hardships and challenges. Previously each new integrator has needed to dive into the fray with little help from previous integrations. Therefore we are creating guides for specific Wikis that make integration simple and straightforward, with guides for specific languages, and for integrating on small Wikis.

What's new

What's going on

• We fly past 10,000 articles (now already up to 10,150). Why is this important? Articles under our scope are automatically included in popular pages, the cleanup list, and will be included as the recent changes list is updated.
• A discussion about the formatting of infoboxes.
• A lot of editing on the heart article -- can it make it to GA?
• The medical newsletter, WP:PULSE finds its feet, and Anatomy and Physiology are featured as a subsection!
• A new WP:WikiProject Animal anatomy (WP:ANAN) is created to focus on animal anatomy.

How can I contribute?

• Welcome new editors! We have a constant stream of new editors who are often eager to work on certain articles.
• We are always looking to collaborate! If you're looking for editors to collaborate with, let us know on our talk page!

• Browse images on WikiCommons to improve the quality of images we use on many articles.

Quarterly focus - Anatomical terminology

Anatomical terminology is an essential component to all our articles. It is necessary to describe structures accurately and without ambiguity. It can also be extremely confusing and, let's face it, it's likely you too were confused too before you knew what was going on ("It's all Greek to me!" you may have said, fairly accurately).

In the opinion of this editor, it's very important that we try hard to describe anatomy in a way that is both technically accurate and accessible. The majority of our readers are lay readers and will not be fluent in terminology. Anatomy is a thoroughly interesting discipline, but it shouldn't be 'locked away' only to those who are fluent in the lingo – exploring anatomy should not be limited by education, technical-level English fluency, or unfamiliarity with its jargon. Anatomical terminology is one barrier to anatomical literacy.

Here are four ways that we can help improve the readability of our anatomical articles.

1. Substitute. Use words readers are familiar with -- there is no need to use anatomical terminology unless necessary!

2. Explain. When using terminology, remember readers will likely not understand what you mean, so consider adding an explanation and providing context. Use wikilinks for terms that a reader may not know.

   "The triceps extends the arm" may not be readily understood. A small addition may help the reader:

   "The triceps extends the arm, straightening it". Consider:

3. Separate. Do not use long, complicated sentences. Don't write discursive, long comparisons unless needed. Start with simple information first, then get progressively more complex. Separate information by paragraph and subsection. Bite-sized information is much more easier to digest for readers who don't have a solid anatomical foundation
4. Eliminate. Not all information is necessary on every article. Hatnotes are a simple and effective way to direct readers to another article. Don't provide long lists of synonyms of names for structures that an article isn't about. If a sentence has been paraphrased to the hilt, consider that several editors are indicating it may need to be simplified.

   "The other branches of the trigeminal nerve are the opthalmic nerve (nervus opthalmicus) and mandibular nerve (nervus mandibularis)"

   "The other branches of the trigeminal nerve are the opthalmic nerve and mandibular nerve" is much more easily digestible

Hello WikiProject Anatomy participant! This is the fourth update, documenting what's going on in WikiProject Anatomy, news, current projects and other items of interest. We've had a quiet time over the last half-year or so, so I've slowed down the release of this newsletter and will probably release the next one around the end of the year. What's new

• A related WikiProject is formed, WikiProject Women's health
• Cerebellum, promoted in 2006, receives a long overdue featured article review
• Heart and Glomerulus receive a peer review
• Our article base explodes from about 10,000 to 12,775, with most new articles being redirects.
• Sympathetic nervous system, Autonomic nervous system and Parasympathetic nervous system all receive significant makeover, and cry out for more attention!

What's going on

The vermiform appendix, seen in the bottom left and the cause of much anguish when inflammed, stirs up an interesting discussion.

• Should Vermiform appendix be retitled to its more common name (Appendix)? The discussion continues!
• A large number of "back end" changes are made, and integration with Wikidata continues -- see the focus for more.
• Our set of cranial nerve-related articles receive a review by a subject expert

How can I contribute?

Our articles on the 13 12 cranial nerves receive a review from a subject expert

• If you're interested in a topic area, let other editors know by creating a 'drive' in that area
• Continue to reword articles in language lay readers can understand
• Search Wikimedia commons for high-quality coloured images that can be used to replace some of our older, lower quality images.
• Don't forget that anatomy isn't always about gross anatomy! A number of other fields, including articles about embryology and histology ("microanatomy") cry out for attention.

Issue focus - technical changes

This issue was originally going to focus on how far we've come as a project. However, that encouraging news can wait until next issue, as there are simply too many changes going on at the "back end" of our project not to write about. What do I mean by "back end"? I mean changes that are not necessarily visible to readers, but may have a significant impact on the way we edit or on future edits.

Templates

A number of visible changes have been made to our templates. Firstly, the way our templates have been linked together has changed. Previously, this was a small bar with single-letter links. This has been replaced by a light-coloured box contained within all our templates with fully-worded links, which provides links to relevant anatomy and medical templates. This should make life a lot easier, particularly for students and other readers who are struggling with the vastness of anatomical systems and their related diseases and treatments.

As part of this, almost all our templates have been reviewed and cleaned up. The previously confusing colour scheme has been removed and colour standardised. The titles have been simplified. References to "identifiers" in the titles of navigation boxes (such as Gray's Anatomy and Terminologia Anatomica numbers) have been removed. Where possible, the wiki-code of templates has been updated to give a cleaner, more standardised, format that is hopefully more friendly to new editors. The cleanup continues , please feel free to contribute or propose templates which need attention.

Anatomy infobox

Most of our articles have an infobox. Previously, there were 11 separate infoboxes for different fields, such as muscles, nerves and embryology. These have been united so that at the "back end", every template will take formatting directly from the main anatomy infobox -- however at the "front end", there is little difference for readers. This will make future changes much easier -- including adding new fields, formatting, and reordering the contents. Several changes have already been made: infoboxes now link to a relevant anatomical terminology article; contents are now divided into 'Identifiers' and 'Details' headings, making it easier to grasp content for new readers; and new fields have been added, including Greek and UBERON, with several more under discussion.

External links

An editor has reviewed all our template-based external links. These are the links that often fill the "External links" category, and sometimes used as citations. At least thirty different links sets, with the number of links stretching into the thousands, have been fixed, and if not functioning, deleted. A number of non-functioning dead links (with no archived websites available), and one or two others, have been deleted. This helps keep our 'external links' section relevant and functioning for those readers who want extra information about articles.

Wikidata

Perhaps our most important change has been integration with Wikidata. This is because of both its current uses and potential future uses. Wikidata is a service related to Wikipedia focusing on storing information. Data relating to a Wikipedia item (such as a muscle or bone, or even a template) can have related "structured" infomation stored systematically alongside it. For example, a muscle can have information about its embryological origin, nerve supply, and the relevant sections of Terminologica Anatomica (TA) stored alongside it. Much information that was stored within articles on infoboxes is now stored on Wikidata, including the TA, TH, and TE fields. An immediate benefit is that Wikipedias in every language will (as they update their own infoboxes, be able to automatically include this information. New data can be entered in a much easier format, and data can be batch entered by bots making future updates much easier Future uses include data visualisation. I personally am looking forward to the day when a reader can view a wikidata-based "tree", clicking mesoderm and seeing all of the derived structures, then selecting the intermediate mesoderm, then Pronephric duct, mesonephric duct and vas deferens. The possibilities of using Wikidata for data visualisation are really quite encouraging!

Our next issue will focus on how far WikiProject Anatomy has come in the past 2 years.

George MandlerI just checked my web page, but after I added a missing reference I ealized that the whole article was corrupted. Missing or misplacing large passages. Thanks for editing out the sentence about ancient India's contribution to phonetics. I gather you approve of the rather parenthetic paragraph on the evolution from Sanskrit to Hindi, and the corresponding change in the way that the writing system works. I got a bit carried away, I guess, in using the article to boost ancient Indian science.

Significance of new page patrolling

Good Afternoon Calaka

While I have been editing Wikipedia for several years now, I have pretty much stayed in my own area of interest. I have noticed lately that when I create a new page not long there after I get a message that the page has been patrolled. In this particular case you patrolled the Source Theatre Company (Washington D.C.) page I had initiated with a stub. What is the significance of a page patrol?
