Wow! Thanks for your very, very kind words Gerda, I very much appreciate your delicacy, all the more so since it is unexpected and also not so common on Wiki where the nicest people sometimes have the unfortunate opportunity to meet not so nice people. I've been working (well, just translating after all) on the Bach cantatas for 16 months now and I understand there are still a strong 40 other ones in store... Kudos to the real work you deliver in creating ex nihilo all these pages, this calls for much more serious effort than just translating into French what already is existant.

And now I'm the distinguished holder of that blue Yogo sapphire decoration! How to stear jealousy on the French wiki where the blue sapphire title doesn't exist !

Which is hardly surprising, as the syntax of fr:Modèle:Japonais differs from that of Template:Nihongo2. (Here's the kludge. For a real fix, I think fr:WP really ought to have a corresponding Modèle:Japonais2 [whether called this or with some other name], but I'm not going to initiate this because I don't have the appetite for the discussions that are likely to arise about its initiation.) Meanwhile, you're also creating a lot of articles that start with:

RIPE still says that the range is allocated to Dedibox/it's still a hosting range. Based on previous technical evidence that I've seen, Free/Iliad does have some hosting ranges and they are pretty problematic. (edit conflict) IP-block-exempt is usually the simplest temporary fix for this sort of problem, Elockid. At least LouisAlain could get back to editing while the ranges are looked at. @LouisAlain:: You're not editing through a proxy of any sort are you? Unfortunately there will be a certain number of red links since the French Wiki has less articles on religion than the one in English. I tried to get other checkusers to look into your case, so far without success. If your IP address is x.x.64.31, then it's simply a case of incompetence by the blocking administrator, because a reverse lookup shows it is a Freebox customer, not a web host.

Seems you're best option is to login from another computer and ask a competent admin (like Nyttend) to give you the IPBE right again. Prevalence 15:26, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

It's nothing personal, and Kudpung is an old friend of mine; it's just that the English Wikipedia seems a lot more strict about articles having references than the French Wikipedia. It was indeed a faux pas, but the intent was really to encourage editors to add some references, so I've added one to her obituary. That could be re-used to support more content translated from the French. The template you want is {{translated page}}. I've added it to Talk:Mary Marquet for you, so you can see an example for future - the version number, c'est l'"oldid" qu'on trouve dans l'url quand on suit "Adresse permanente" dans les "Outils" de l'article. My apologies, Louis, things happen. What I had intended to do was place a standard PROD on the article, not a BLPPROD. It is very rare that I make a mistake when patrolling pages, and the irony is twofold: I am the one editor/admin who has been campaigning heavily for years for better quality of patrolling new pages, and I'm also biligual French-English and do a lot of work trabslating French articles for en.Wiki. A PROD is not the end of the world, they allow 7 days for the issue(s) to be addressed and even if deleted can generally be refunded without too much fuss. Well, thanks for your intervention Kudpung, and maybe is it no coincidence that you are bilingual en/fr and "meet" me. Mary Marquet is actually the kind of article I intend to create, that is with an infobox, short or long lists of works by musicians, writers, creators etc. with one ou two introductory lines and the usual External Links, Sources or Further Reading, Authority control and al so that the articles are acceptable. Trying to do the part you did I could but it inevitably would need to be entirely rewritten and of course I don't want to add to the burden of those who will come after me. @LouisAlain:, please note that the template I placed is not a speedy deletion, it's simply there to let you know what needs to be fixed & give you, and other editors, a week to do it. The external link on the page, http://www.allocine.fr/personne/fichepersonne_gen_cpersonne=540661.html, doesn't meet WP:RS. It looks more like an IMDB type site. You'll need third party press coverage. Edmond Crosnier

Thank you! for translating so many important articles from the French Wikipedia into English.

Regarding the article Edmond Crosnier, I suggest we rename it to François-Louis Crosnier. Although he used Edmond Crosnier as a pen name early on, his success as an author for the stage was limited. He became much more well-known as the manager-entrepreneur of the Opéra-Comique, where he apparently used François-Louis Crosnier for his professional name. (His father also adopted the spelling Crosnier to replace Croisnu.) There are several sources concerning the history of the Opéra-Comique (as well as the Opéra) that index him under "Crosnier, François-Louis", including one I have that mentions his birth name Croisnu and his early career as a dramatic author. I was contacted recently by a British editor Richard Nevell (talk) who has worked on a very good article, Wressle Castle, that he thought I might be able to translate to French. Thanks for thinking I could help but now I'm too much in the French-English process to reverse course. Yet, you may try a rough translation with the Google translate tool which usually performs a good deal of work and I'll make the needed translations and adaptation to the French Wiki templates, models, links etc. which are slightly different than the ones which are of use here. There are more categories in fr. Wiki and also the use of Portals is mandatory. I see on your User's page that

. The task shouldn't be unsurmontable tough.

The user Kudpung is bilingual and may help too. The first draft with Google translate can be done within minutes so the article by Richard Nevell may be avalable in French tomorrow.

(talk page stalker) It's worth remembering that Google will translate the text of an article, but you still need to apply wiki-markup for headings, links, templates, etc. That process is best done by working on a draft on the French Wikipedia, where you can see what is a redlink and you have the appropriate templates available. I suspect that's a job for someone who knows their way around fr-wp, but you could make a start by using your sandbox fr:/Utilisateur:Richard Nevell/Brouillon to drop in the Google translated text. • Unfortunately, my 'home' Wiki is the English Wikipedia so I only translate articles from French to English. Google is good, but it can never match the quality of the clean up by a native speaker that is always required . At en.Wiki we generally don't accept articles that are rough translations. Thanks. Note that this is not a guideline, only an essay. The guideline, WP:INFOBOXUSE, says: "Whether to include an infobox ... is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article." So, I think the best procedure is to begin a discussion on an article's Talk page if you feel strongly that an IB needs to be added or deleted from an existing article. Louis, I'm disgusted that you've been given such disinformation by Ssilvers. Infoboxes are very much part of the English Wikipedia and the majority of articles, especially high quality ones, have an infobox. I'm going to encourage you to carry on adding infoboxes to any articles that you feel would be improved by having one. As you can see, people disagree on this issue, but RexxS is absolutely wrong: many of the highest quality articles on Wikipedia do not have infoboxes. See, for example English National Opera. I do agree that editors do not *need* prior consensus to make edits (unless they are under an arbitration restriction), but on a contentious issue like this, where there was a major Arbitration battle, it is a good idea. On the contrary, SSilvers is completely wrong. One example is called an 'anecdote', not data. Over 75% of all Featured Articles have an infobox, as anyone who takes a sample from that page can verify. In addition, I have always been a leading defender of the right of any editor to add an infobox when they believe it to be an improvement. The onus is on the opponents of that edit to give good reasons why it is not - and "you didn't ask first" is not a good reason. The Arbitration Committee only has a remit to comment on behaviour, not content, and they had no criticism whatsoever of my conduct.

In almost all areas of the encyclopedia, the issue is completely uncontentious, but in one or two topics a small, self-selected group have chosen to remove infoboxes for no other reason than that they don't like the look of them. You may wish to steer clear of adding infoboxes to existing articles on classical composers and biographies of entertainers, if you wish to avoid conflict. I hope you won't think we're as committed to warfare as Swift's characters were. In fact I often find myself collaborating happily on all sorts of topics with folks who have diametrically opposed views to me on the single topic of infoboxes. It's only a few years ago that I discovered the synchronicity concept by Carl Young and am fascinated to observe how many times it applies every now and then in life. It will soon be 5 years that we "know" each other (well I was interested in the Bach cantatas in the first place and you first intervened on the fr.wiki from my very early translations), and just when I arrive here, some sort of "coincidence" makes our respective trajectory meet again. Of course I will translate into French your new born baby just, you may remember what happened to the Rhapsodie Macabre and its author just one month ago. The messages I left on your German talk page was linked by a Swiss sysop (his name appears on a message above re. my IP being blocked here last year) to the French administrators board and I still don't know what the point was to show that I was in contact with you? So my talk page was under surveillance and may still be (as well as yours). Another English user has asked for a translation in French of one of his recent articles. That part is done but I don't give the title since it would be too easy for another fr. sysop to spot and delate (read sabotage) if from the fr.Wikipedia. One of these weeks I will post from another IP. The fr. WK really is in need of a serious, deep and thorough piece of audit.

Eastern

Eastern emoticons generally are not rotated sideways, and may include non-Latin characters to allow for additional complexity. These emoticons first arose in Japan, where they are referred to as kaomoji (literally "face characters"). The base form consists of a sequence of an opening round parenthesis, a character for the left eye, a character for the mouth or nose, a character for the right eye and a closing round parenthesis. The parentheses are often omitted for well-known kaomoji. The mouth/nose part may also be omitted if the eyes are much more important.

Most East Asian characters are usually inscribed in an invisible square with a fixed width. Although there is also a history of half-width characters, many Japanese, Korean and Chinese fonts include full-width forms for the letters of the basic roman alphabet and also include digits and punctuation as found in US ASCII. These fixed-width forms are also available in Unicode.
