Hello, I recently raised a WP:OWN concern on a page I had been edited lately the [[Antioch International Movement of Churches]]. I noticed 50% of the authorship edits on that page have been edited by a single editor since March. This editor uses speedy deletions/reverts, supposed BRD style edits, which I experienced and discouraged me. The editor is also very particular about approving edits. I am concerned this editor is exhibiting behaviors that appear to be possessive of this page. I assume good faith on this editor's part and don't have any current disputes, however when I raised the OWN issue with the editor on the article's talk page, the editor did not reply. The editor eventually left a message on my user talk page telling me, it's not for the article's talk page, to WP:FOC, and talk to administrators about it on the appropriate boards. I reiterated WP:OWN says "An editor who appears to assume ownership of an article should be approached on the article's talk page with a descriptive header informing readers about the topic." and the concerns of overdoing possessive behaviors. Still the editor did not want to address the issue. What is the proper way to address this and what is the appropriate board to bring this concern to? Clarification Regarding Translation Replacement
Hi there,
I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct place to ask, but maybe someone will be able to assist. I noticed that the article Egor Kreed, for example, was considerably empty in contrast to the one found on the Russian Wikipedia, and was looking to add content to it. However, when I was using the translation tool for other articles, I noticed that there is an option to replace an already existing page with a translation. My question for this is: what would be the potential impact of such an action? Would there need to be additional steps taken afterwards? I think it would be easier to do another translation (given how organized the tool is) but at the same time, I do not want to mess things up if that makes sense. Thanks in advance for the help. - Despite what the notice says at the top of Egor Kreed, expanding an English Wikipedia article with a translation from an article in another language is a bad idea, unless you are satisfied that the text you are translating is supported by citations to the standard required in English Wikipedia (which tends to be a higher standard than many others).
- If the text you are translating is so supported, then that's fine: you translate it, and cite the original sources (unless you can find equally good English ones, which are preferred if they exist). But if it is not, then what you will be doing is adding unsourced information to the article, which is generally not acceptable (and especially not when it is an article about a living person).
- Looking at ru:Крид, Егор, at first sight it has lots of citations. But looking at them, an awful lot of them appear to be either to his own work, or to VK (service), which is a social media site: the bulk of citations in an article should each meet the triple criterion of reliability, independence from the subject, and having significant coverage of the subject. There may be some citations in the Russian article that meet these criteria, but if so, they are swamped by the refbombing of inferior or worthless sources.
- Also, I notice that several claims in the first paragraphs are tagged with "источник не указан 423 дня", which I believe means "unsourced for xxx days". ColinFine (talk) 15:46, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

Import from another language Wiki
I have seen that my article de:Fadenwurminfektionen des Hundes was transferred (and translated) per c&p to Nematode infection in dogs, without using Wikipedia:Requests for page importation and therefore without article history. In the German WP this procedure is not allowed because it violates Wikipedia:Copyrights. I have no idea how it is handled in the English WP. Uwe Gille (talk) 11:16, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- Uwe Gille, Wikipedia copyright policy allows reuse of text, but says that credit to the authors should be provided, for example by including "a hyperlink (where possible) or URL to the page or pages you are re-using". This is also explained at Help:Translation#English Wikipedia policy requirements. Unlike in de Wikipedia Wikipedia:Requests for page importation are not required and appear to be unusual. I can't login to my account in wikipedia!
Hello, I have been a member of Wikipedia for years.
For the past few days, I have been trying to log into my Wikipedia account, but after entering my username and password, I receive an error message. I am sure that I am entering both my username and password correctly, but each time I get the same response that either the username or the password is wrong!
When I click on the "Forgot password" option, it asks for my username and email address, but I do not receive any email in my inbox for resetting my password!!

- Hello. The account in question is User: Mjdtjm with a capital M. Check whether that may be the source of the problem. That account does not have email access enabled, so the software cannot send you anything by email. You should enable email if you regain access, or on your new account if it comes to that. Abrupt GA Delist - Florida State University - No Discussion, no cooperation
I am requesting help with another editor who abruptly delisted the main Florida State University from GA status (which the article has had for years) while a GA Reassessment works through the process. I need to resolve concerns with non-free use in a couple sections, mainly and perhaps a style preference or two. Otherwise, the editor proposing the GAR is helpful and generally cooperative. - Sirberus, you should probably follow the process for Disputing a reassessment at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment. I see you have raised your concerns with the closing editor on their talk page. The steps are
- A GAR closure should only be contested if the closure was obviously against consensus or otherwise procedurally incorrect. A closure should only be disputed within the first seven days following the close.
- Before disputing a GAR closure, first discuss your concerns with the closing editor on their talk page.

- The delisting editor (Real4jyy) shows up and says the reason the delisting was made is that no additional edits were made in two weeks...while the two active editors were waiting for a subject matter expert in non-free material to contribute to the review. Pardon me, but I live in the real world, and Wikipedia is a low priority for me and others who want to make Wikipedia better. It may takes months to finish the work. Frankly, the pattern of this individual appears to be to move from one GA review to another and delist whatever falls under their cursor. That is absurd. It takes substantial work to bring an article to GA status. Turnertown, Texas wrong categories

We have the same name
There are multiple artists along with other individuals with the same name “Matt Lambert” I have noticed that our information biography and such are getting mixed together. It happens quite often on platforms that we are mistaken for each other as we have parallel themes in some of our work. I noticed this happening particularly in the Spanish version.

- On the English wikipedia, the best way to address this is to use the {{Edit COI}} template on the Article's talk page. You might use to say something like "Please remove XYZ because that refers to the Matt Lambert who is based in Madrid, not the one who is based in LA" and provide a link to a reliable source which makes it clear.
- As all the different language run wikis are seperate, we can't advise on Spanish wiki - but I think their process would be pretty similar. -- D'n'B-t -- 10:04, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

- Read WP:PAID. You are required to make certain disclosures and follow certain rules when writing for pay. While not banned outright, the practice is looked down upon, and frequently produces articles which fail to meet Wikipedia's standards of neutrality and which therefore risk being rejected. The short version is basically that in a case where you have a personal connection to something - it's your friend's company, you personally know the members of the band you're writing about etc - it will in many cases affect your ability to be neutral when writing about that subject, even when you are unaware of it and/or trying very hard to be neutral. - @Otto Motev You may need a solid piece of writing advice. I have no idea what your usual writing style is, nor whether you are adaptable. Wikipedia requires flat, neutral, dull-but-worthy prose, with references. Obviously we may not accept copyright wviolations. Assuming your rock legend is still living we have very specific needs for referencing:
- For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.

- Yes, but note that the vast bulk of your sources must be wholly independent of the subject - not written, published or commissioned by them or their associates or agents, or based on interviews with them or press releases. Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost entirely interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources.
- Note also that Wikipedia is not interested in what you personally know about the subject: every single piece of information you put in an article should have been published in a reliable source (and preferably, you should cite that source). ColinFine (talk) 22:57, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

Concern about an editor's behavior
I have concerns about an editor acting, in my view, out of compliance with the Wikimedia Foundation Universal Code of Conduct. To whom should I address the specifics of the issue? I have been taught to praise in public and criticize in private, so my thoughts are that I should not just post this to an admin on a talk page. Please advise. Thank you for your help. - The UCoC is not really something we enforce locally, because we already have local policies that are, in almost all cases, stricter than the UCoC. If your concern has a priovacy component you should report it to WP:ARBCOM by email, but if it does not you should in fact post at the relvant admin noticeboard such as WP:ANI. Release History on MATLAB page
On May 31st, 2024, MrOllie removed the "Release history" section on MATLAB under WP:NOTCHANGELOG. However, this list seems synthesized from multiple sources and more granular than what MATLAB provides on its own website without discussing bugs being squashed or intermediate snapshots. Similarly, ZFS has a section, and Adobe Acrobat has a dedicated version history page. Would it be best to revert the deletion, to make a reduced/redacted form to make it less of a changelog, or to split the version/release/number correlation chart into a separate page similar to the various Windows 10 updates? - While the WP:BRD process allows you to revert, doing so would almost certainly be followed by a discussion on the article's talk page. Since that is going to happen anyway, and also since you are proposing different possible answers, starting a discussion on the talk page is clearly the best approach. Make sure you notify MrOllie. - The start of the GA review is not there but at Talk:Giado concentration camp/GA1, where you ask the same question, TheNuggeteer, and where Zanahary has answered it well. AWB edit summary help
I originally posted this over at WT:AWB but haven't gotten an answer, and it's putting me off editing with AWB at the moment, so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone who doesn't look at WT:AWB knows the answer.
I'd like to stop the addition of the [[WP:AWB/T|typo(s) fixed]]:
text to edit summaries when using AWB's automatic typo fixes. Is there any way to do this? Using the "lock the default edit summary" option doesn't stop it from being added.

Or are you just asking why the page goes not show up in internet search engines like Google? If you're asking about why it does not show up in internet search engines like Google then even if it remains in article space it is not likely to do so until either 90 days have passed or someone has marked it as patrolled per WP:NOINDEX. There isn't really much you can do to speed up this process other than wait although if the article is clearly WP:Notable and without significant problems perhaps people in the WP:NPP team are more likely to pass it quickly. - It sounds as if you might have the (very common) misunderstanding that the article on Kailash Satyarthi "belongs to" him or his team: it does not. Articles do not belong to anybody, and the article may be edited by almost anybody in the world except Satyarthi or people associated with him. If you are Satyarthi or somebody associated with him, then you have a conflict of interest, and you should not directly edit the article, but you may make edit requests. timestamps in signatures greyed out

- It's intentional, as they now act as links to the comment, for copying to other discussions and such. They have the css class "ext-discussiontools-init-timestamplink" if you wish to target them in your custom css. WelpThatWorked (talk) 14:07, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

- Hello, Msffga18. First, if you own the platforms, then you have a financial stake, and Wikipedia regards you as a paid editor: you must make a formal declaration of this on your user page: see the link I gave for how to do this.
- Because of your conflict of interest, you should not edit directly, but you may make an edit request on the talk page of an article you want to change, and in time an uninvolved volunteer editor will see your request and decide what to do. Your case will be stronger if you can cite a source where somebody wholly unconnected with you or your platforms has chosen to write about your availability on those services (more than just a listing or mention). If it appears to the editor that your purpose is purely promotion, and there is no encyclopaedic value to adding the platforms, then they will not do so. ColinFine (talk) 14:24, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikimedia API parse - properties property
The parse action of the Wikimedia API contains a property called 'properties', which shows images and "expectedUnconnectedPage" and I can't really tell what that is for and whether it's useful

- @KirkiArty: Please always give an example when possible. 'properties' shows properties for a specified page so the result will vary for different pages. Unconnected page means there is no Wikidata item for the page. I think it's only shown for pages in namespaces where it's possible to have a Wikidata item. I was sent a "warning"
I edited a page ("Clovis_Culture") by replacing a paragraph containing errors with a corrected paragraph.
I received a "Warning" from "jdcomix" on my Talk page -- "This is your only warning: if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice." 17:15, 30 June 2024.
I do not understand what this means, and I have received no response to my replies
Can you please explain what I was being warned about?

Instead of making your case at Talk:Clovis culture, you made a lengthy edit summary that insulted another editor as "incompetent", which is a violation of the behavioral guideline Assume good faith and is a personal attack which is contrary to policy. This is a collaborative project and decisions here are based on consensus. When another editor disagrees, it is incumbent on you to discuss the issue on the article talk page and gain consensus for your proposed changes there. Those are among the reasons that you were warned. You are new here. You need to learn more about social norms among fellow editors before trying to push through contested changes. Help with WP:OWN concern
Hello, I recently raised a WP:OWN concern on a page I had been edited lately the Antioch International Movement of Churches. I noticed 50% of the authorship edits on that page have been edited by a single editor since March. This editor uses speedy deletions/reverts, supposed BRD style edits, which I experienced and discouraged me. The editor is also very particular about approving edits. I am concerned this editor is exhibiting behaviors that appear to be possessive of this page. I assume good faith on this editor's part and don't have any current disputes, however when I raised the OWN issue with the editor on the article's talk page, the editor did not reply. The editor eventually left a message on my user talk page telling me, it's not for the article's talk page, to WP:FOC, and talk to administrators about it on the appropriate boards. I reiterated WP:OWN says "An editor who appears to assume ownership of an article should be approached on the article's talk page with a descriptive header informing readers about the topic." and the concerns of overdoing possessive behaviors. Still the editor did not want to address the issue. What is the proper way to address this and what is the appropriate board to bring this concern to? Pride2bme (talk) 04:57, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
