Kasganj (Hindi: कासगंज) is a city and a district headquarter of Kanshi Ram Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Kasganj is located at 27°49′N 78°39′E / 27.82°N 78.65°E / 27.82; 78.65[1]. It has an average elevation of 177 metres (580 feet).It is famous for chaat and shonpapdi.The main attraction point of Kasganj is Nadrai ka Pul. Kasganj city is now in Kanshiram Nagar Distt.we see here Ghantaghar with a huge watch in the center of the city. It is called the sangam of four roads(gates) nadrai gate, bilram gate,soron gate,sahawer gate.now there is a mall of name hariyali.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[2], Kasganj had a population of 92,485. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kasganj has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 55%. Transport

Kasganj lies on Agra-Bareilly Road, which connects Bareilly to Agra, Mathura and Aligarh. Buses and other means of transport are available for New Delhi and Agra at any time of the day and night.

Kasganj has two railway stations: Kasganj Junction and Kasganj City. Kasganj Junction is an important railway station connecting Mathura to Bareilly and Kanpur. The Mathura to Bareilly railway track through Kasganj junction was metre gauge that has been converted to broad gauge in 2009. The Kasganj to Kanpur railway line was also metre gauge and the track was converted to broad gauge earlier. Now Kasganj lies on an important railway route. It has been suggested that a new railway line be constructed from Aligarh to Kasganj. If it materialises, Kasganj will lie on the Delhi-Kanpur route.
