== Re: SOTI Inc. Company Page ==

Hi 069952497a,

Thanks for your review of the [[SOTI Inc.]] page I've created.

I have tried to keep the content very factual and non-promotional- could you let me know what you saw as advertorial? I will revise it immediately.

I have tried following the same format as similar companies on the site: [[MobileIron]] and [[AirWatch]].

I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you!

A tag has been placed on Strike Force Heroes, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Nomination for Deletion

Nomination of Aircraft carrier style for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Aircraft carrier style is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aircraft carrier style until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.

The article Strike Force Heroes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:WEB. Unreferenced apart from a link to the game site, and no sign of reliable sources online.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 13:24, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Evan if you have such research (which I find hard to believe) the edit that I made also included a very important however incresingly forgotten point. The Irish invented aids!!! Henry Martyn Leland

The Barton Historical Society claims he was born there BUT, in the VERY earliest publications where his name is mentioned, he is said to be born in Danville. This presents a problem. Danville never had a hospital and Barton had one in 1843 that closed in the 1950s. Henry Leland told the ship staff each time he took a voyage that he was born in Danville, Vermont. It can clearly be seen on the official passport record. So, after all is said and done, because home births were not out of the question in 1843, and I believe Henry would know better than ANYONE else where he was born, I believe that we MUST go with Danville, Vermont.

I am a cousin of Henry Martyn Leland and have done his entire line all the way back to John Leland who was born in 1553 in St. George, Dorset, England, United Kingdom of Great Britain and died April 18th., 1652 in Devonshire, England, United Kingdom of Great Britain.

hello; i'm the person who edited the wing tsun page. few years ago i added the section titled "anti grappling" in the page as i read about it in "www.wing tsun.au" (official site of australian branch of wing tsun international), anyway, after these years i revisited the wikipedia page and find that section to be a personal point of view rather than a neutral section. most of the section is claims and view points of the wing tsun instructor about the system (like saying: "abandoning the striking techniques is one of the weaknesses of grappling arts", or saying: "wing tsun is a formless art, which it is not and the art has three empty hand forms, or saying: "this is in contrast to the idea that wing tsun can only be applied stand up and is not efective on the ground", which it is not clear or proved that wing tsun principles are effective on the ground as well or not). these are personal view points and is better to be modified or removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.177.57.4 (talk) 22:03, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa

Dear Editor,

Thank you very much for your response.

I am Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa. My first name is Salah.

There are major errors in the Wikipedia article on my person. That is why I deleted the information, and since I have very little knowledge of text editing on Wikipedia, I was unable to successfully replace the deleted material.

The issues that I have with the text as written are the following:

    1. It contains several erroneous facts about my peson that need to be removed and replaced by the accurate data that I included in the text that I tried (and failed) to insert into the article and that I am enclosing in this message. The erroneous facts are the following:
         - My name: It is supposed to appear as Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa (my first name is "Salah").
         - The nature of my publications: The article states that I am a "self-published" writer. I am not with the very recent exception of a novelette that I put on Amazon Kindle subsequent to its print publication in a a highly renowned print journal.
         - My university position and my function: I am an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing, not an adjunct, as is mentioned in the text.
    2. The text makes mention of my birthdate. I do not wish my birthdate to appear in the article.
    3. The text is not exhaustive enough and omits many very important elements of my work and experience.

Again, thank you very much for your kind help.

Yours sincerely, ~ ~ ~ ~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.59.92.95 (talk) 13:44, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for notifying me. I will attempt to address your concerns.
  • 1. The important thing about Wikipedia is that all the information on its pages need to be verifiable, not just true. What this means is that the information must come from a proven, credible source. If you can demonstrate that all of the things you mention are in fact true, using reliable sources, then feel free to correct the article. However, until that information can be proven, we do not know that it is true. Although I personally will take your word that you are the real Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa, others reading the article might not.
  • 2. A Wikipedia article should include all relevant information about a person. Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, your personal preferences concerning your birthdate (as long as the birthdate is correct) will not affect the legitimacy of the information presented, and it will remain on the page. Furthermore, unless oversighted, the details about your birthdate can still be accessed via the history of the article.
  • 3. Feel free to add this information into the article (that is, only if you can verify it). If you need editing help, visit the Help:Editing page. Also, familiarize yourself with the policies of Wikipedia. However, please endeavour to keep a neutral point of view in your edits, as to avoid conflict of interest claims.

By the way, when you sign a comment, don't add spaces between the ~'s, or the signature will not show up.

Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa is a Kuwaiti poet and writer who teaches English and Creative Writing at the University of Nantes, France. He is executive editor at Angelaki and directs the Contemporary French Thinkers series in the Oxford-based journal. He is a recipient of the Tunisian Presidential Award for Excellence in the Humanities. From 1988 to 1993 he was a Fulbright fellow at Indiana University, Bloomington. Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa has edited several collections of essays and has written many essays on film and on Modernist and postmodern culture. He is the author of Atopian Limits. His fiction revolves around the diaspora experience and features short stories published in various British and American magazines and anthologies, including the Anthology of New Arab American Writing, in which a critic described his contribution as a “postmodern cum magical realist adventure [that] reads like Kafka by way of Baudrillard.” Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa has recently finished a novel and published a highly anticipated novelette, “Sleepwalking,” excerpts from which were presented to great praise during an invited public reading in Boston at Berklee College of Music. 90.59.75.27 (talk) 14:12, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa

Dear Editor,

Thank you very much for your thorough response and for accepting to address my concerns exhaustively.

I apologize that I have not been able to respond to your message more swiftly: I have been very busy with University and editorial work.

Thanks to your explanations, I now understand that Wikipedia regulations prohibit writers from modifying the content of the entries that describe their careers and works. Thank you very much for the clarification.

Also, thank you very much for proposing to insert my real name (Salah el-Moncef bin Khalifa) in the article instead of the erroneous one.

Having said that, please allow me to suggest that the data I included in the biographical note which I submitted to you be verified by the author who wrote the article on my person. I am extremely easily trackable through Google and the information that I provided in the biographical note that I sent you can be expeditiously verified by being copied and pasted on the Google search engine.

Also, the website of the IDA (Institut des Amériques), of which I am a member, and the ANGELAKI website are a very good places to verify the information that I provided.

Concerning my Presidential Award, if need be, I could scan it and send it to you.

As for the "self-publication" element in the article, please allow me to reiterate my position, because this a point of very high significance to me: I am not a self-published author--the only instance of a "self-publication" one of my stories is the posting of the novella "Sleepwalking" on Amazon, *after* it appeared in the refereed journal SHORT STORY. As for my scholarly book, ATOPIAN LIMITS, its manuscript was read by the PETER LANG editorial board, its publication and marketing were fully supervised and conducted by PETER LANG. The contract that I signed with LANG stipulates that the book is to be published on the basis of a subvention.

Again, thank you very much for your support. I very much hope we will be able to find a satisfactory (re)solution.

Best wishes,

Re:Sinkhole

When I mean sub-article I mean something like Effects of Hurricane Dean in Mexico. I do not intent to mege the two article's rather to simply move the sinkhole article to Effects of Tropical Storm Agatha (2010) in Guatemala. This is in a fairly similar situation to 2010 Oaxaca landslide, which ended up getting merged. Given the fact the fact that Agatha did other impact as a tropical cyclone to Guatemala, IMO it would be best to make an Effects of Tropical Storm Agatha (2010) in Guatemala. YE Pacific Hurricane 00:39, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't that sufficiently covered in Tropical Storm Agatha (2010)#Guatemala? The sinkhole has received, in my opinion, enough coverage to be notable on its own. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 00:58, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the current Agatha article is lacking details on actual damage, and most importantly, lacks aftermath. As for the sinkhole, why has two articles on almost the same thing? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Agatha article can be expanded, but the main causes of the sinkhole collapsing are not all related to Agatha. The Pacaya eruption and sewage pipe ruptures also played a major role in the sinkhole's collapse. In fact, the sinkhole is mostly artificial in cause, as stated by several references. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 11:40, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of creatures in Primeval may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 15:17, 20 May 2013 (UTC) [reply]

I believe it was a misunderstanding. However, I have removed the unpaired bracket anyway.

Regarding "Fat tree because it did not appear constructive"

I did that change because I think it is useful to know that the links near root are so-called "fat" links but they are actually multiple links. Perhaps instead of just fat word, "fat" (i.e. in quotes) may be useful? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Methosoldest (talkcontribs) 00:45, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If it really is a technical term, then I suppose that's my mistake. The usage of the term should be explained in the article and backed up with references. The quotes are a good idea as well. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 13:43, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This post is about Brezovica. — Preceding unsigned comment added by King911 (talkcontribs) 14:54, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit as vandalism because you removed information which was referenced. I believe the references do point to the existence of old ruins, which are clearly identified in the article as being part of Štrpce. As Brezovica is also part of Štrpce, I think the history section is still relevant to the article. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 23:19, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where are you from and do you know these things — Preceding unsigned comment added by King911 (talkcontribs) 07:53, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am from Canada and have no personal knowledge of Brezovica. However, I and the potential readers of the article cannot assume that you have legitimate knowledge of the area. One of the keys of Wikipedia is that any information in its articles must be verifiable, not just true. I am prepared to accept that the references are legitimate and relevant to the article (since I do not speak Serbian/Russian).

I am also not very clear on what exactly your concern is; thus I have probably not addressed your actual issue in my reply. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 23:36, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My friend i am from Strpce and i know history of my place very well.

That may or may not be relevant depending on what your concern is. Is your concern that the information is incorrect, or that it is irrelevant to the article? 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 20:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sink hole

So someone comes along and removes a duplicated sentence. You come along and say 'unexplained' and revert that. Then next person comes along and says "hey, there's a duplicated sentence, let me remove that." Of course they remove the wrong duplicate, the one with the ref def.

Next time could you check more closely what you think is 'unexplained'. It might actually be obvious, and not really need an explanation. (Though that is why we ask experienced editors for reasons, to save time, but IPs don't necessarily know about that.) Shenme (talk) 00:30, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My edit that you deleted.

My contribution was helpful. I stated that 'Annabeth Chase is nobody's sidekick'. People who are looking up sidekick information should have the whole truth. My statement was relevant because ANNABETH IS NOT A SIDEKICK. Even Rick Riordan stated so in a Percy Jackson book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.85.237.244 (talk) 04:24, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article is about sidekicks, and your edit about someone not being a sidekick doesn't belong, especially not in the lead. There are millions of characters who aren't sidekicks. People who are looking up information will generally want to know who is a sidekick, instead of who isn't. Your information would be slightly more helpful on the Annabeth Chase page, but even there, it's probably not notable. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 11:17, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that rather than reverse other editors removal of pure junk, that you take the effort to clean up the section. Editors acting in the way you have keep articles full of useless junk, assuming you are concerned with being constructive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.117.136.10 (talk) 16:48, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK. You can delete it as far as I'm concerned. The only reason that I proposed starting this page is because

WAMP (financial)

in in the disambiguation page for WAMP and this article's contents for WAMP (financial) was in the page for WAMP which is about WAMP software which I wanted to link to a student and WAMP (financial) was in the wrong place, cluttering up the page on WAMP software.

Please roll back the corrections to Almeda University's page

The information is not true and as an Alumni I will file libel charges against Wikipedia of the previous content. You can either remove the page in its entirety, or restore the corrections I made to the page. My next out reach will be to Jimmy.

Thank you,

Your main issue with the article seems to be whether or not Almeda is unaccredited. This claim is supported by multiple references, not only those in the article, but also those which I found outside. Furthermore, please do not use legal threats like "I will file libel charges against Wikipedia of the previous content" (see WP:LEGAL). Instead, resolve the conflict on the article's talk page, or through some other venue. I will complete my response later. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 14:59, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, 069952497a. I happened to notice your report at AN/I about the editor's legal threats. I just wanted to make you aware of this page from Almeda's own website about their accreditation status. I found the page by hovering on the "ABOUT ALMEDA" tab near the top left of the page, then clicking on "Accreditation". I'm not sure if you already saw this page. but there are a few interestsing pieces of information on there, such as:
  • Almeda "has earned membership and accreditation by several certifying organizations", including the "Committee for Distance Education Accreditation (CDEA)", "The Association for Online Academic Excellence (AOAEX)", and the "Interfaith Education Ministries (IEM)".
  • "Accreditation by any of these organizations does not guarantee acceptance of your degree. If you are unsure about whether your employer or perspective employer will accept your degree, we encourage you to contact them before proceeding any further with us."
  • "None of the accrediting agencies that recognize Almeda University are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the seven official regional accrediting agencies. This non-recognition may have some implications to include, but not limited to: 1. Almeda University is unable to participate in the Federal Student Loan/Financial Aid program. 2. Almeda University is not authorized to accept the GI Bill. 3. Almeda University is unable to guarantee acceptance of its degree programs in other postsecondary institutions. 4. Public sector employers will not recognize a degree accredited by a private accreditor. 5. Private sector employers have no obligation to accept degrees from Almeda University."
Obviously, the editor's purpose was to completely whitewash the article by removing all negative content about the organization, and all 27 of its sources. He was also attempting to imply that the organization is fully accredited by traditional, recognized agencies, because what he failed to include in the article was any specific content about their accreditation status even though, as we now know, it is already revealed on the organization's own website. One would of course have to assume that Dr. B.D. Sanders/71.207.163.13, the IP in Huntstville, Alabama, (according to WP's geolocate link on his page), is a graduate of Almeda. --76.189.109.155 (talk) 11:17, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Melanin theory

hi, My name is Queen and I am a dermatologist. I am very sicken by your extremely racist Melanin theory page.. I have tried to make correction to the lies you are trying to teach our community and my patients, but you keep undoing them. I would appreciate it if you would take out the word black supremacists because we both know that black supremacy does not exist.. This article deeply expresses your own hatred for all people of color. You having the experience in writing should be able to express yourself with out hurting others. but then again your personal oppinions in this article is a prime example of what you claim is true about white people, and their hatred for this world and the living beings in it. Take your personal feelings out of this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GoddessQueen1 (talkcontribs) 20:14, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

VisualEditor for templates

Hey 069952497a

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.
