Greenacres is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 27,569 at the 2000 census. In 2004, the estimated population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau was 32,019.[2]
Geography
Greenacres is located at 26°37′41″N 80°8′7″W / 26.62806°N 80.13528°W (26.628045, -80.135389).[3]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 square miles (12 km2). 4.7 square miles (12 km2) of it is land and 0.21% is water.
Demographics
At the 2000 census,[1] there were 27,569 people, 12,059 households and 7,585 families residing in the city. The population density was 5,917.6 per square mile (2,284.2/km²). There were 14,153 housing units at an average density of 3,037.9 per square mile (1,172.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 83.21% White (69.2% were Non-Hispanic White,)[4] 6.49% African American, 0.35% Native American, 1.83% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 5.61% from other races, and 2.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 21.25% of the population.

In 2000, speakers of English as a first language accounted for 73.64% of all residents, while Spanish accounted for 21.02%, Italian for 1.69%, French Creole made up 1.09%, German was at 0.71%, and French was the mother tongue for 0.45% of the population.[5]
Greenacres had the ninety-ninth highest percentage of Cuban residents in the US, with 2.41% of the populace (tied with Forest, Mississippi,)[6] and the ninety-seventh highest percentage of Colombian residents in the US, at 1.67% of the city's population.[7]
