The district is rough and steep as land. Flat land is almost non-existent. The territory of the district consists of the wide valley of the Shiro Stream, which flows into the Euphrates River, and the mountainous areas in this valley environment. Settlements are concentrated in mountainous and hilly points. For this, arable lands are located on the slopes of the mountains and hills.

We know when the first settlement was made here. It is said to exist in Samanoğulları from Kütahya in the district. Apart from these, the Kopuzoğulları, whose origin is unknown, is a community that came here and settled later.

"Mürün" in Imrunya, whose first name means beautiful place and desired place, was established as a village 300 years ago. In 1877, it was converted into a subdistrict and connected to the district of Kâhta in Adıyaman. Pütürge, which was connected to Elazığ province in civil division in 1892 as a district, was connected to Malatya with the declaration of the Republic.

The word Pütürge appears in Kars and its surroundings, but its origin is the Russian word "Butylka / Budulga". It means 'bottle', the exact equivalent is; "Similar to pound bottles, it is made of tin, inverted funnel, and its body is cylindrical." It is referred to as "Pütürge" in the Craft Terms Dictionary. The origin of the name Malatya Pütürge is uncertain, if the extension of the word used in Kars and its surroundings, this bottle may have been produced in this region. One possibility is to Anatolia in the aftermath of the war 93 'migration of hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Malatya and surrounding areas to placed the Muslim Bosniak (Bosnian immigrants in Turkey, Muammar Demirel), which names "Poturi ACE / Potur by" name was the form which corresponds to the region. "Şîro", the old name, was a middle-persian (Pahlavi / Pahlavi) word "Şer / Şîr" in the northern mouth, meaning "Aslan." (A Concise Pahlavi Dictionary "DN MacKenzi, Oxford Universty Press.) With Pütürge He was shot in a movie about the exile cow.

Pütürge (Kurdish: Şîro)[3] is a district of Malatya Province of Turkey. The mayor is Mehmet Polat (AKP).
