.ECO registered trademark brand is owned and operated by planet .ECO LLC,[2] .ECO, founded in 2008 by military and IT veterans Moses Boone and Jean William, ecopreneurs,[3] affirms that environmental justice is social justice and aims to uniting those fighting climate change.[4]

.ECO registration 3716170,[5] 5851826,[6] 5813887,[7] and 6220615[8] are federally registered trademarks of planet .ECO LLC for advertising and marketing; advertisement agency; database management; design, creation, hosting and maintenance of internet sites for third parties; hosting of digital content on the Internet; providing specific information as requested by customers via the Internet (domain name related services[9]). .eco was first issued by the United States Patent Trademark Office on November 24, 2009. Subsequently, in 2012 .eco was proposed in ICANN's new generic top-level domain (gTLD) program, guided by IANA Functions Contract[10] SA1301-12-CN-0035[11], and became available to the general public on April 25, 2017.[12][13]
