This is a list of state visits in 2016. Using the context of the United Kingdom, the Royal Households of the United Kingdom define state visits as "formal visits to a country by heads of state from overseas, with the aim of strengthening a country's relationships with other countries."[1] The list also includes official visits made between heads of government.
