Reinstatement of "Drug Therapy Problems"
Hey I need a page reinstated. I'm a doctor and I wrote an article titled "Drug Therapy Problems", I quoted about 7 different sources, but an admin said it was copyrighted material. The information comes from guidelines that are then quoted in different books and literature as well as clinical trials. Also it is technical jargon and I can't rewrite it in my own words without completely destroying the true definition. Everytime I try to post it, it gets pulled down. I'm new to wikipedia, but I thought we were supposed to edit articles to make them better not completely remove them. If an article need improvement can't a tag be placed on it saying it needs to be improved rather then removing it right away? It's quite frustrating and I'm a busy person, I don't have time to keep writing and revising multiple times. Can't I post it and others help revise it to perfection? It's not like I don't know what I'm talking about, I studied the subject for 8 years already and I can assure you the admin that pulled it down hasn't. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Why orphan tags?
Hi, it seems that the tagging of articles with "orphan" tags was extensively discussed *and opposed* before being approved by *one* editor. I can't see how that could be called a "consensus" in any sense of the term.
Editoral tags violate the basic Wikipedia rule that any comments (request, suggestions, etc) about an article should be carried out on the Talk page, not in the article itself. Moreover robot-inserted editorial tags do not solve the claimed problems, nor make the problem more likely to be solved; and are inherently unfair because they imply that the tagger's opinion, even though it hardly required any thinking at all, is more important than that of the article's authors and of all other editors who commented in the talk page.
Editorial tagging only make Wikipedia uglier, and drives good editors away. In fact, massive editorial tagging (and in fact almost all kinds of bot-assisted editing) is a form of vandalism, like ad-spamming and obscenity insertion — right down to its psychological motivations and its effects on Wikipedia. Please reconsider, and use your time for regular article edting instead. All the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 15:15, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, The tagging of pages does get what is needed or thought to be needed done, this can be seen in the orphan stats here. As for the bot process and the scope of the tagging there have been many previous discussions as you have probably seen. bot tagging, bot un-tagging, o1, tagging on talk pages, o2, orphanage archive, my archive.
- The main opposition for the bots tagging process was for specific plants stubs. As for the movement of maintenance tags to article talk pages, this was turned down here in Feburary 09. As times have passed since the bot last ran I will start a discussion of some description for people to express their views. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:39, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
If you would like to take part in the discussion regarding these bot tasks please take a look at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Addbot_22 Thanks :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:25, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Niche
I am the chief instigator of a rather large niche within Wikipedia; I have dedicated myself to producing biographies on all notable World War I flying aces not yet covered. Recently, I have been stumbling across orphan tags, although they have not been showing up on my watchlist. Not that I am complaining about the tags; they have made me aware of the need for interconnectivity within Wikipedia. However, they do raise some questions, and I could use some answers to help me deal with the tags.
1) Can they be somehow jiggered to show up on watchlists? Cuz if they showed up on mine, I could deal with them on a regular basis instead of hit or miss.
2) How is the linkage tested? For instance, consider Walbanke Ashby Pritt. He supposedly has only two links; however, when I click on "related articles", I find a list of 27 articles. Some of these are linked to Pritt and don't show up; for instance, Category: World War I flying aces, and Category: People for Leamington Spa.
3) Do orphan tags lead to deletion requests?
Georgejdorner (talk) 23:22, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there
- Firstly orphan tags should appear in your watch lists, but make sure you are showing edits from bots and minor edits.
- Secondly an orphan must have links directly to it (not related articles) that do not include disambiguations, lists or talk pages. Try using the what links here page :)
- Thirdly orphan tags do not lead on to deletion requests, so don't worry about your articles disappearing
- Sorry for my slow reply but I hope you find it useful. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:32, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Task possibly fit for Addbot
Hi.
There appears to be a need for a bot to patrol articles looking for <cite> tags, identifying the subset needing fixing in a particular way and, on those, doing edits similar to what I've done manually in this edit. From a quick look, this seems to be the sort of thing which Addbot does.
This follows on discussion in various places which led up to recent changes here and in some other places (e.g., in Template:Wikicite). A partial list of links to candidate articles (currently about 2500 of them) can be seen here.
The foregoing is a pretty condensed description, but it's probably adequate for present purposes. I wonder whether you agree that this might be a potential candidate task for Addbot. If so, I can describe this more completely. If not, can you point me at alternative ways to get the task done? I personally have not done any significant programming in years, and probably wouldn't want to try my hand at a bot. I'll watch here for an answer, or drop me a note on my talk page. Cheers. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 07:31, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for my slow reply, unfortunately I do not really have much time for bot writing at this point in time. The idea seems pretty sold and I can see a bot being able to do most of these changes pretty easily so I suggest you go can find another bot operator :) Alternatively I could try and guide you through the creation process and I am sure we could find some way or running it at the end of the day. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 16:38, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Monocco
"The erecting of the Circuit de Monaco takes six weeks to complete" is grammatically incorrect. It should read "The erection of the Circuit de Monaco takes six weeks to complete". Erection isn't just used to describe the erection of the penis.
Here is the Wiktionary definition of "Erection":
erection (countable and uncountable; plural erections)
(uncountable) The act of building or putting up or together of something; construction.

about Hairy Wombat
I was wondering - the log says that Hairy Wombat asked you to delete his user page (to - get this - preserve a redlinkage for his user name). However, I don't see any such request either in his talk or yours. What's up? - Jack Sebastian (talk) 07:28, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
- The last edit made on the page was made by User:HairyWombat with the only content being Db-u1 hence the deletion. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 08:36, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know what 'db-u1' is, but I am curious as to why you keep deeleting the user's page, apparently without being asked. Do you share a telepathic bond, or are you simply the same user? :) - Jack Sebastian (talk) 10:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

- Okay, well that makes a heckuva lot more sense than telepathy (lol). So, fairly new users can request speedy delete of their user pages for cosmetic reasons now? That seems to be, well, a bit of a waste of time. And odd, too, considering that a user with barely more than 1000 edits seems to be pretty familiar with our more intricate templates. Is something fishy, or am I just jumping at indef-banned shadows? - Jack Sebastian (talk) 10:27, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Can you, please see this:
Template:Infobox Kosovian district
Template was created by user who was uninformed about numerous things.
- First, it should be Infobox Kosovo district. That will be grammatically correct.
- Second, it is pure copy of Template:Infobox Serbian district

Deleted contributions
Hey, I saw your name on a list of people I should talk to. I'm new to contributing so forgive me, I added to the page for Mark Funkhouser, mayor of Kansas City, MO, earlier today and went through a lot adding a list of his initiatives. I learned all of this code for Wikipedia, cited my sources, and then boom! I submit it, it gets deleted because I may or may not have a bias. From what I understand I have to save it as a draft and have someone proofread it for me. Could you get back my deleted contribution so I can save it as a draft? Thanks! My other question (that I can't seem to find an answer to on here) is what to do about a poster (a repeat vandal) who is putting multiple posts on at least 3 different talk pages for Wikipedia articles. Are we supposed to remove all but one of them, or leave them? CreativeSoul7981 (talk) 16:27, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

You may not, but I was a user, called Syntheticalconnections. I have done some pretty stupid stuff on Wikipedia when i was younger and I wanted to be adopted by you. I never continued, as I pretty much left Wikipedia. I started editing a lot more in 2009 (still as Syntheticalconnections), and the reason you may not remember me, is because I recently changed my name (2 days ago) . If you can still do the adoption thing, I would wish to continue, or start over if that's what I must do. atomic7732 03:55, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I am not currently as active as I would like (as you can probably see). As for adoptions, I am not really continuing them. I recommend that if you wish to get adopted you find someone more active than me :) ·Add§hore· TalkTo Me! 21:42, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

If you weren't a bot . . .
I'd say that this edit would prove you to be a complete idiot. Was the orphan tagging of dab pages a widespread problem? Can I assume that it's been long ago taken care of? HuskyHuskie (talk) 16:11, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- The bot was built to look for pages that did not have article links to them... This page does not. There are lots of other checks for example the bot looks to see if the page is in a disambiguation category or is tagged to that effect. When the bot was built I did not take into account that disambig tags and cats are not added to people who share a given surname. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I assure you that if the bot runs again in the future there will be an extra check or two in place to try ensure pages such as this one do not get tagged again. I do have to say that you can point out bot errors while still being polite. ·Add§hore·Talk To Me! 14:52, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Whoa, I'm sorry, I did not mean to give offense. That's why I said if you weren't a bot. The tag made no sense, and I was amazed at the stupidity of it, but then I saw that it was a bot, and so, hey, that's cool. I am in awe of bots and their makers for the work they get done around here. I was truly just wondering if the issue had ever been revisited, since it had been nearly two years since that edit was done.
- Please don't think I am contemptuous of you or any of your bots. Far from it, and I apologize for coming across that way. HuskyHuskie (talk) 02:41, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- :) The bots are not currently running but no one had pointed that error out to me before! Thank you again for spoting! If I ever do run that bot again please be sure that this bug will be fixed =] ·Add§hore· Talk ToMe! 18:08, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Help with requesting mediation
Hello. You are on my welcome message, so I thought I'd ask for your help on a matter. What is the next step after discussion at length over an article's content? I would like to reach a fair compromise with another editor, and I believe I have found wording that allows such a compromise while at the same time preventing confusion when other readers come across this article. The other editors acknowledge my points, but I would like to clarify a particular statement. The discussion has been going on since last August, so I think it's about time to come to a final agreement involving all parties. I am happy to explain further, but I was curious what would be the next best step in getting this issue resolved. CreativeSoul7981 (talk) 05:33, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Huggle question
Hey Addshore! I notice at this entry at Huggle/Feedback, the following:
ArgumentNullException: Hodnota nemůže být NULL.
Název parametru: input
v System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.IsMatch(String input)
v Huggle.Processing.ProcessEdit(Edit Edit)
v Huggle.Processing.ProcessContribs(String Result, User User)
v Huggle.Requests.ContribsRequest.Done()
v Huggle.Requests.Request.ThreadDone()
This was posted as part of a query at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback#Exception in 2.1.1 by User:Mike Rosoft. At the time, I asked if either of Hodnota nemůže být or Název parametru were pages he was trying to access. If they were, then no problem. However, if they were code in Huggle 2.1.1, then that means that parts of the new Huggle are not coded in English. My concern is that, as HG is primarily used on the English Wikipedia, and should User:Petrb one day no longer be able to continue with HG’s development, then whoever would take it over may have to rollback to version 0.9.11 and re-start from there if s/he cannot read Hungarian Czech.
Since I cannot understand the code, and you are so familiar with it, I thought that perhaps you might be able to say whether this is an issue or not. If this is nothing, I apologize in advance for taking up your time. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 06:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Adoptee who's now seeking to adopt
Hi there -- I was one of your adoptees who passed the final test. I am now seeking to adopt someone else and I was wondering if anyone had ever adopted you, to give a sort of "lineage" of adopters. If you're the progenitor of this line, that's fine too. I noticed that your adoption courses were taken from Tiptoety who (with approval) took them from Hersfold. As I understand it they're CC-BY-SA, but might I have your approval to now use them myself? Banaticus (talk) 07:55, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yep feel free to use them :) I am aware that some of them may currently be abit out of date and I would be happy to help you update them also. As a quick note, I was never adopted, I just liked Tiptoetys adoption pages :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 08:52, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Sourceforge
I have decided to use svn on sourceforge as a playground for unstable versions, so I am now commiting unstable code and updating google svn when new version is out only, if you want to get admin access just tell me your username there Petrb (talk) 13:30, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't quite seethe reason in having two svns.. The point of the svn is you can get a copy of the code, you can change whatever you want while other people can also change it, when you fix something or add something and it works you commit it with a suitable summary. This can all be done on one svn... ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 13:51, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Unless you commit it's not easy to share the code with others and what about unfinished verion in the case you want to have only one I will keep potentialy unstable versions available in svn, is that ok? And in that case we can only add trustworth people to project!! Petrb (talk) 14:31, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Unstable is fine, Its when they don't build at all that they shouldn't be in the svn :P Why does that mean that we can only add 'trustworthy' people to the project? ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:33, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- How you avoid the addition of dangerous code in it? Anyway how people would download stable code in this case? I still see many situations which can be hardly handled with svn maybe I need to get more skill with it, for instance I have no clue how rid of edit conflict on it. Petrb (talk) 14:37, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi! What are your plans for Wikipedia:Bots/Status? Will you update other info or only sort it? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 17:28, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there, I am slowly expanding what my bot does to it. Mainly I am trying to keep it in good order, keep some generic tasks listed as the same, remove unnecessary bits, get the bot owners where I can, hopefully do something with date formatting and my bot should now also get the inactive bots from the page and if it catches an edit by that bot it will update the page :). Though anything else I can add I will try ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 17:33, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Logmein website.png
Thanks for uploading File:Logmein website.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 05:12, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Aron Erlichman
Hello, first of all - thanks for reading this. I understand that you are probably extremely busy a lot of the time, especially being a recovery admin and all. Anyway, I would very much like to be able to access the wikipedia page "Aron Erlichman" aka Deuce. I spent a long time on this article and although I am somewhat currently accepting it's deletion (or "redirect to Hollywood Undead's page") I would like to access the text so that I can find the reliable sources and perhaps fix it up so that I could put it back up. I am good friends with Aron and he is rather irritated that it has been redirected to HU's page and has now given me some more information, with sources and some people to help. Although I do not know why the page was deleted, I trust admin decisions and the "this page is up for deletion" notice has been up for a while. Could I please have access to the text of this article. Thank you very much. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlueAsBlood (talk • contribs) 20:27, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Devine Advertising Associates
There is a company named in the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_J._Devine
The company was highlighted by someone but there was no page by that name, so I set up one containing a few reference links and before I could return to add any others (literally minutes or seconds after it was created) the page was deleted.
I don't mind fixing the entry so there is more encyclopedic information and detailed sources, but I wrote the original page on the fly and I do not want to recreate it from scratch.
Please restore the page so it can be completed or send me (devine@usa.net) a copy of the original text and I will see that someone completes it in a fashion that would benefit Wikipedia.org
Thanks

Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia:Huggle/Sandbox
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}

Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. hi, basically a random person decided to tag my page (most likely out of the goodness of this person's heart) after all this time when nobody else did. so i just need my resource page that was on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rm2dance -- it doesn't seem to be on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=User:Rm2dance and i don't know if it's supposed to? basically i just need my page, i guess you can just post it back on my page and then i can move it out of wikipedia. thanks~
~original msg -- (just forget everything -- too much trouble)~
my page is missing out of nowhere and there's nothing in http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=User:Rm2dance and i can't check the history of my page? is that how it's supposed to be?
hmm.. so my page is missing randomly just today with no problems after all this time. then a random person decides to tag it because the person felt like it? is there like mediation or something for something like this?
but basically if it's too complicated or too much trouble, just nevermind, im just wondering if they have mediation
also, was there any way to protect my page? just wondering
hmm.. it says "If all else fails, try another wiki" so i'll just do that -- where is my resource page? the history for it that is. so the page took years to build up so im glad a random person decided to tag it... it's fine. i'll just put it on wikia for the time being. wikia doesn't have any problems and wikipedia also... but it depends on the random people.. well.... rm2dance (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:09, 21 July 2011 (UTC).

Reply to an old message
Hello, I just discovered that in May of 2010 you sent me a message pertaining to a supposed act of vandalism I made on the article Saint John High School. While I checked the history of the article, revealing that indeed my IP address committed such an act at that time, I would like to assure that it was not myself. The only explanation I can think of is that at that time some sort of technical fluke caused my external IP address to be assigned to someone else. I have never edited that article nor committed any act of vandalism upon the Wikipedia community.
Thanks, --142.167.228.100 (talk) 23:38, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Nomination Of AV Anand
Hi Addshore, i had created an article about a person AV Anand, who is a Indian musician. He is a percussionist and has been awarded a lot for this skills. He is my teacher and i would like to create a wiki page about his life time achievements. Apparantly, the page i created was deleted and i am not sure what part of the content caused it.
The admins on the wiki showed up your name and i thought of seeking your help. Could you please help me in editing the content of the page and putting it on wiki?
Awaiting your response.

MSU Interview
Dear Addshore,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 04:08, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Ben Davis (actor)
The reason why I want the link deleted is because the Ben Davis (actor) that is linked in Les Misérables (musical) and Enjolras is not Benjamin Byron Davis where the redirect link is linked to, they are two different people. Also evidenced by this IBDb profile. QuasyBoy 17:49, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Is there a page for the other Ben Davis? As in the Ben Davis that should be linked to from the Les Mis article? ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 18:31, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Substing IP template
Any reason why your bot has been around, substing the {ip} template by transcluding other templates? Just wondering. :) Salvidrim! 00:25, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- The bot substs any template from Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/User_talk_templates on user talk pages as well as from certain categories around WP. It has been said that all of these templates should be substed. how do you mean substing the {ip} template by transcluding other templates? ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 10:18, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Huggle Edit Count
Hello Addshore! I'm thinking about making a bot to automatically edit Template:Vandalism information. However to do this, I would need the edit count/revert count information shown in the top right of Huggle. How does Huggle get this? Is it internally calculated or retrieved from an API? And is there an API to get this info from Huggle? Thanks! Vacationnine 05:28, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. there is no api query for this. Huggle simply looks at the recent changes that it gets from either the irc or api feed and then decides how many edits there are to how many reverts it can identify! - Thanks for the code! Do you think that simply searching for "revert" is accurate enough for this purpose? This is what the bot currently does here while waiting for approval. Below is the relevant part of our code (Python):
def getCountThingy():
currentTime = time.strftime("%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%SZ", (time.gmtime(time.time()-300))) #EXAMPLE: from=20121226170007 time.time()-300
x = "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=recentchanges&rcstart="+currentTime+"&rclimit=500&rcdir=older&rcprop=comment&format=xml"
data = url.urlopen(x).read()
data = data.lower()
count = int(round((data.lower().count("revert")/5.0)+1)) #Round up

- Simply checking for the word revert would probably be fine! It might be worth checking warnings on user talk pages! (who knows). It might be worth trying a few different ways of checking and then comparing them :) ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 00:54, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- User warnings would be a bit complex as not all users give warnings and we're parsing the whole blob of text which may bring up complexities. Thanks for your input though! I modified the code to subtract good faith edits from that amount: [9]. Also, thanks for your kind works on the BRFA. Vacationnine 01:04, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. Another thing I would consider doing is creating a list for edits identified as vandalism reverts and another list for those edits that didn't match. This could help you spot the summaries of reverts thats the bot may be missing and vice verse! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 01:08, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks again for all your input! That's a great idea but we would have to change our parsing mechanism as the parser looks at the entire document. We would probably need to use regular expressions. This might happen eventually Vacationnine 01:14, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Addbot problem?
I recently substituted User:Theopolisme/festivus onto several users' talk pages. This in turn added the wikicode {{subst|User:Theopolisme/festivus}} (used as a prompt in the bottom) to all of their pages. Next thing I knew, AddBot was substituting all of these! Bug? Or am I missing something? Cheers, —Theopolisme 00:47, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. The template Template:Subst was substed as it appears in the following list Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/User_talk_templates. It is because you used the subst template that addbot went through and substed all of your posts. Why did you use the subst template rather than just substing the templates? I see that you have reverted the edits by the bot, as you have left all of the posts with the subst template they will currently all be substed on the next run. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 01:06, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- Take a look at the (apparently misleading) docs at Template:Subst. It claims that the template is used for documentation only, and not substitution. —Theopolisme 01:38, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- I think the template you should be using is Template:Tls. I have never used the Subst template itself before and after looking at it again I am very unsure about what it should be use for and the differences between itself and other templates. I think a discussion on the template talk page is needed and maybe either some sort of merger and or removal from the AWB list linked above. ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 01:47, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) {{Subst}} is simpler to use when a link is not needed, as it doesn't require searching for the correct template, some of which only work for templates located in the Template: namespace. At any rate, though, I've removed {{subst}} from the AWB list, as it's clearly not meant to be substituted. jcgoble3 (talk) 02:55, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
- You beat me to it! I was literally just about to go to bed when this popped up last night, thanks for your action Jcgoble3! As Add bot reads from the AWb list your posts to talk pages should no longer be substituted Theo! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:13, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
