Traditionally a Syriac Aramean Village, this once beautiful village, also goes by the name of "Kerburan" or "Kerboran". It had approx 250 families in 1900. After the "Seyfo" in 1916, many christian families were killed. It was inhabited by the Syraic Christian Arameans and Kurds, but from 1979 must of the Christians flew the city (they were scared because of the Cyprus conflict).

It has the Syriac Orthodox church of Mor Kuriyakos, which is now left in ruins despite numerous attempts by the Christian people from this village, whom are now abroad, to restore and maintain their church.
