Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport or Aéroport de Paris Beauvais Tillé (IATA: BVA, ICAO: LFOB) is a French airport, originally the small regional airport of the city of Beauvais. It is actually located in the community of Tillé, 3.5 km northeast of Beauvais, a commune of the Oise département, and is 85km north of Paris. The airport has four gates and a snack bar and shopping area, both airside and in the publicly accessible area. The airport carried over 2 million passengers in 2007[4]. The airport will be closed from June 3rd to June 10th for the installation of new landing equipment.[5]

Equipment

The airport is equipped to welcome medium-sized passenger jets in good visibility, and between the hours of 7am to 11:30pm local time. Since 2007 the ban on night flying has been strictly enforced for the benefit of local residents. Passenger planes arriving after 11:30pm can be diverted to Lille Lesquin International Airport, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, Charles de Gaulle International Airport or Brussels South Charleroi Airport[6], etc.

The main runway, 13-31, only has an ILS in QFU 31 and a PAPI in QFU 13. It does not have an ILS to CAT III standard. This means planes can have difficulty landing in some bad weather conditions, notably when fog descends on the airport.[7] From the 3rd to 9th of June, 2009, the airport will be closed for the installation of ILS CAT III equipment. It is expected the installation of this equipment will greatly reduce delays caused by bad weather.[8]

To and from the airport

The airport is serviced by a shuttle to the city centre and railway station that operates eight times a day; many passengers use a private scheduled coach for a 75-minute trip to Paris, ending beside the Palais des Congrès at Porte Maillot, located in the 17th arrondissement, approximately a kilometre west of the Arc de Triomphe (Irish passengers to Paris sometimes refer to this destination as the James Joyce pub due to the pub's proximity to the terminus). The fare is 26 euros return, 13 euros one way.

There is a taxi rank at the airport, and also a free shuttle bus into the town.

Beauvais train station is situated almost 4km away, with connections to Paris Gare du Nord, Amiens, etc.

There are also many minibus and shuttle services that can bring you to Paris and which is a popular destination for passengers arriving at Beauvais Tillé.
