Welcome to my user talk page!

CVUA

Hi Fox,
I'll be your CVUA instructor and to start with I'd like you to read WP:Vandal. Let me know if you have any questions, and I can't wait to here back from you! Dan653 (talk) 15:31, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Now I'd like you to read WP:CUV. Let me know if you have any questions. Dan653 (talk) 22:56, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great, now please read WP:GAIV. Dan653 (talk) 16:52, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question 1 What should you do if a user who has received a level 4 or 4im warning vandalises again? Dan653 (talk) 19:54, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:Deny. Dan653 (talk) 00:27, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done! Don't Feed The trolls is nothing new 2 me ;o) --Fox2k11 (talk) 09:36, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:AGF next. Dan653 (talk) 22:58, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I read WP:AGF Already you gave me that task before you requested STiki Access for me ;) --Fox2k11 (talk) 05:40, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oopsies :P Question 2 How can you tell between a good faith user asking why you reverted their edit, and a troll trying to harass you? Also, please read WP:PROTECT and as a bonus, if you're up for it, read WP:HUMAN. Dan653 (talk) 22:50, 13 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Answer 2 The difference Between a GF-editor asking why and a Troll trying to harass is mainly the Tone and wording a GF-editor is polite and wants to know what he did wrong and seeks to do it better and/or understanding also forms his words politely in a formal polite tone while a troll usually don't care to word his editing properly and commonly is Hostile against the reverting editor(s)!

I have Read WP:PROTECT and i think this is more handy for Admins rather Vandalfighters also Read WP:HUMAN and I was already aware of the contents of WP:HUMAN but read it again nevertheless --Fox2k11 (talk) 05:42, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1) In what circumstances should a page be semi-protected?
2) In what circumstances should a page be fully protected? Dan653 (talk) 21:54, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Answer1 a page Should be Semi-Protected when a page becomes More Attention then Usual (f.e due to Media Coverage of the article's subject) ongoing IP-vandalism and / or IP-edit-warrings and the editing IP's are of wide range where a single block would be useless!
  • Answer 2 Answer one applies also to Full Protection but extends not just to IP-edits it prevents also non-admins to edit the protected page this is useful if an article is under heavy and persistent Vandalism or Articles templates or other pages that should not be edited by non-admins! --Fox2k11 (talk) 07:01, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You have now completed the CVUA curriculum. Next, there will be a three day monitoring period. If you have any questions just post them here. Dan653 (talk) 14:19, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Anti-Vandalism + STiki Barnstar

Congratulations, Fox2k11! You're receiving this barnstar because you recently crossed the 1,000 classification threshold using STiki. We thank you both for your contributions to Wikipedia at-large and your use of the tool. We hope you continue your ascent up the leaderboard and stay in touch at the talk page. Thank you and keep up the good work! West.andrew.g (developer) and Yaris678 (talk) 09:29, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Very impressive from such a new user! Yaris678 (talk) 09:29, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The image has not been released into the public domain since it was not created by a federal government agency. While there has been considerable discussion on this, nobody has been able to definitively prove that Colorado mugshots are PD. Furthermore, it has been definitively proven that the Colorado government can copyright its images. In that case, it is assumed that all images are copyrighted unless shown to be otherwise. The only reason that the earlier image qualified for fair use was because it depicted something (dazed appearance and orange hair) for which a free alternative couldn't be found. Ryan Vesey 12:12, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are Right about that but with the new image is quite the same i think I have it from the same source and is also notable --Fox2k11 (talk) 12:20, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The source doesn't matter. The new image is replaceable, the old one is not.
On another note, even if the new image did qualify, it should not replace the old image. The old image is specifically there to depict those two characteristics mentioned above. The new image does not do that. I still believe your new image does not qualify, but if you want to go that route, you might want to leave a note at WP:MCQ and ask for some advice. Ryan Vesey 12:22, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted the Image again to the Red-hair version I don't want an edit/upload warring if you say the image should stay then it shall be! --Fox2k11 (talk) 12:33, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and again, if you feel like uploading a new image with the new version, I suggest you ask for some more opinions at WP:MCQ. I don't believe it will be allowed, but there's no harm in asking. Ryan Vesey 12:34, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

clarity is key

Hey, Fox! Just a quick tip:

"I don't reply to unsigned post's and Remove them w/o a warning!"

— your talk page header

Mm -- perhaps you should tell people how to sign their posts? As you are a counter-vandal, you're almost guaranteed to get tons of newbies viewing your page -- clarity is key. ;) Theopolisme 00:42, 26 September 2012 (UTC) [reply]

thanks for the heads up done that =) Fox2k11 (talk) 12:05, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
One final thing -- always remember to sign your posts, too! :) Namely, the talkback you left on my page -- since there's no time signature, it won't get archived ... would you mind signing it? Cheers, Theopolisme 20:32, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done I thought putting the Template would be plenty but ok now I signed it =) --Fox2k11 (talk) 23:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FA

Hey! In this edit you assessed Frankfurt Airport as "FA". Anyone is free to assess on the range from stub to B, but for FA, the article must go through the featured article candidate process and reach community consensus before being promoted as featured content. In regard to this page, the person who created it was User:Kaasje and the user who blanked it was User:Rickraptor707. WP:CSD#G7 only applies when the person who blanked or requested deletion of the page is the page creator or the person who created the only substantial content. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 00:39, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is there some reason to believe the person who blanked the page is the original author? I don't see one. WilyD 07:51, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

James Eagan Holmes

I'm pretty sure it's not true that the suspect would necessarily be making an appearance at every court session. I think there are several kinds of proceedings where only his attorneys would need to appear. And as long as the only information provided is that there will be some kind of legal proceeding on such-and-such date, an event that apparently has so far not been mentioned in any news source, I can't see the need to include that content in the article. AFC

Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Articles for creation! We are a group of editors who work together on the Articles for creation and Files for upload pages.

A few tips that you might find helpful:

  • Please take time to fully read the reviewers' instructions before reviewing submissions.
  • The reviewers' talk page is the best place to ask for help or advice. You might like to watchlist this page, and you are encouraged to take part in any discussion that comes up.
  • Article submissions that need reviewing can be found in Category:Pending AfC submissions and there is also a useful list which is maintained by a bot.
  • You might wish to add {{AFC status}} to your userpage, which will alert you to the number of open submissions. There is also a project userbox. If you haven't done so already, please consider adding your name to the list of participants.
  • Several of our members monitor the #wikipedia-en-help connect IRC channel, and you are welcome to join in to ask Wikipedia-related questions.
  • The IRC channel #wikipedia-en-afc connect is used occasionally for internal discussion regarding the Articles for Creation process, and also serves as a recent changes feed, displaying all edits made in the Articles for Creation namespace.
  • The help desk is the place where new editors can ask questions about their submissions. You are welcome to help in answering their questions.

Once again, welcome to the project. CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 23:12, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined - Mohd Remezey Che Ros

Hi. I have declined your speedy deletion nomination, because WP:CSD#A1 does not apply here. The context and subject are clear - it's about this footballer; and he plays at a high enough level to pass WP:NFOOTY. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 14:34, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I marked it as a Stub then... =) --Fox2k11 (talk) 14:40, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{speedy}} tag which you placed on this article. While it is true that the creating editor is blocked now, he was not blocked when he created the article. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 15:29, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked page creators

I note that you have recommended several pages for speedy deletion, via page curation, as being created by blocked editors. It is important to ensure that the pages involved were created after the block was imposed, which has not always been the case with your nominated pages; page curation is not infallible. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 17:30, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thanks for the hint will pay attention in the future =) --Fox2k11 (talk) 18:36, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Zaguehi

Hello Fox2k11, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Zaguehi, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 23:43, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

there is just one sentence and it looked to me that it's just some test edit also i have not seen some Ref's So I assumed no context but well Okay =)--Fox2k11 (talk) 23:49, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lack of references is not a speedy deletion criteria. If it was an unreferenced biography of a living person then BLPprod would apply, but this was clearly about a surname, and from part of the world which we don't cover well. Please don't use no context unless it really meets that criteria, if you are going to tag more articles for deletion you might find it useful to read some of the guides in User:WereSpielChequers#We.27re_Spiel_Checkers_-_thoughts_on_deletion. It is really important that we don't over use deletion, it is very bitey for editors to have their contribution tagged for deletion. Cheers and happy editing. Hello! I am curious why you marked this recreated article Arash Dibazar as 'reviewed' after it had went through an AFD. I will watch for your comment here. Thanks jmcw (talk) 10:26, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well I was using Page Curation and it showed as new and when i checked the article i have not seen an AFD tag on the article otherwise i would had not marked it as reviewed if there was one I have to admit since i thought it was a new articel i did not have checked on the edit history! --Fox2k11 (talk) 15:32, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle 3

Hey Fox2k11! I am Petrb, one of core developers of Huggle, the antivandalism tool, which you are beta testing (according to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers). I am happy to announce that Huggle 3 is ready for some testing. You can read more about it at WP:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta. Please keep in mind that this is a development version and it is not ready for regular use. That means you must:

  • Watch your contribs - when anything happens you didn't want, fix it and report a bug
  • Frequently checkout source code and build latest version, we change it a lot

If you find any problem with a feature that is supposed to work perfectly, please let us know. Some features are not ready yet, it is listed in known problems on Huggle3 beta page, you don't need to report these - we know it! So, that's it. Have fun testing and please let us know about any problems, either using bugzilla @ http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/ or #huggle connect. Please respond to my talk page, I am not going to watch your talk page. Thank you Petrb (talk) 10:57, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle 3 beta is out - and we need more feedback!

Hey Fox2k11, how are you? I am Petrb, one of huggle developers, and you are currently subscribed as a beta tester of huggle on meta (meta:Huggle/Members. You may not have noticed, but this week I released first beta precompiled installers for ubuntu and microsoft windows! Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta has all the links you need. So if you can, please download it, test it and report all bugs that is really what we need now. Don't forgot that as it's just a beta it's unstable and there are some known issues. Be carefull! Thank you for helping us with huggle Petrb (talk) 16:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We need your help testing latest huggle

Hello,

I am sending you this message because you listed yourself on meta:Huggle/Members as a beta tester. We desperately need attention of testers, because since we resolved all release blockers, we are ready to release first official version of huggle 3! Before that happens, it would be nice if you could test it so that we can make sure there are no issues with it. You can download it packaged for your operating system (see Wikipedia:Huggle/Huggle3_Beta) or you can of course build it yourself, see https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx for that. Don't forget to use always latest version, there is no auto-update message for beta versions!

Should you find any issue, please report it to wikimedia bugzilla, that is a central place for huggle bugs, where we look at them. That is i mportant, if you find a bug and won't report it, we can't fix it. Thank you for your work on this, if you have any questions, please send me a message on my talk page, I won't be looking for responses here. Thanks, Petrb (talk) 15:11, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi Fox2k11, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle connect!

Major changes:

  • Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
  • Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
  • Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

In case you found a bug, please report it to bugzilla: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/buglist.cgi?product=Huggle&list_id=147663 thank you! Petrb (talk) 10:09, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm using Huggle 3.1 already did not find any bugs so far otherwise I would have posted them on Bugzilla so far it's a nice new Huggle with a fresh look well done =) --Fox2k11 (talk) 17:11, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Huggle 3.1 is not huggle 3.0.1, in fact it has same look as it has before. 109.81.211.232 (talk) 19:27, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about 3.1.0 and it looks different to me but it could be my memory that is playing tricks on me... --Fox2k11 (talk) 19:35, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Concern about your use of rollback

I am concerned about your use of the rollback permission. From seeing your edits, such as [1][2][3], it is clear that you do not understand the difference between vandalism and what is not vandalism, and when to use rollback. Rollback or Huggle is not for reverting good faith edits, it's to fight vandalism. Furthermore when asked about one of your reverts, you never responded. Combining this with:

  1. Your lack of using user talk vandalism templates
  2. Your confusing reasoning as to why you don't warn
  3. Your comment that unless vandalism is repeated, it does not deserve a warning (unless I misunderstood)

I am of the opinion that you are not up to date on policies and editing contrary to them. At this time I have removed your rollback privileges. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 00:31, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but what is wrong with diff 1? did I missed the change in an policy that Advertising is allowed now in in the WP? the sole content of this is edit is "Use promo code UBERONEHUNDRED for $30 off your first ride! Redeem it at, + a website url" I don't see this as a constructive edit nor is this off encyclopedic worth so I reverted it! for Diff 2 It seems it just contains a typo which i could have edited by hand but a revert is okay here too.. for diff 3 adding "with rooms starting at USD $585 per night." as the sole content added might be a good faith edit but it's unconstructive / not off encyclopedic worth so a revert is okay here...

"#Your lack of using user talk vandalism templates"

that might be a huggle issue I just press the shortcut for the action I tend to use I always thought huggle picks a proper template according to the warn level (at least Huggle 2.1 did that) I'm using Huggle 3.1 currently

"#Your confusing reasoning as to why you don't warn + #Your comment that unless vandalism is repeated, it does not deserve a warning (unless I misunderstood)

Seems like I hit a language barrier here my native language is german! Of course I always warn vandals for vandalism that is out of the question but not for unconstructive edits like the diff 1 & 2 you mentioned that's not really vandalism at least thats how I learned it when I started to fight vandals

  1. "Furthermore when asked about one of your reverts, you never responded."

where did he asked me I frankly haven't noticed any questions I commonly respond to questions and concerns of reverts I have made! --Fox2k11 (talk) 00:59, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
