ICC Women's Champ Points table

@Lugnuts:, in the points table of ICC Women's Champ.. Pakistan team were not yet 100% qualified. It stands on 4th place right now. When England win only one match off three matches against Australia, at that time Pakistan will drop that position and England will occupy the 4th position. So please be wait for that movement. Until then don't add the colour Green to the Pakistan team. I hope that you understood the rules of ICC. Thanking You Srinu523 (talk · contribs) - 1 July 2015, 17:54 (UTC).

Jolanda Neff's article

Hi, I'm not sure why is a bad idea to place some video-links to the races she has competed. It isn't violating any copyrights, and I think the visual support is a good idea for people who are interested in sport, but you can obviously think differently.

I put the links by the first time on June 27, 2015. After that, you made modifications to the article four times without delete the links, but now on your fifth revision you deleted them...

Found this Olympian while looking on the tools-wondering if this is the same person

So I was looking up people who were last edited before a date and under this many bytes and found Evgeniia Khokhriakova, I was going to get a better ref from sports refs but couldn't find her-how ever I did find a Yevgeniya Soboleva who was born in 1988 like the one on Wikipedia and is the same sport-so is this the same person or what? Wgolf (talk) 21:43, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good spot. Def. the same person. Her sports ref bio has the full name of "Yevgeniya Viktorovna Soboleva-Khokhriakova", so Khokhriakova appears to be her maiden name. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:57, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

edit feedback for we want the colonels

Hey there, I caught your edit on the recent changes page, and your justification for the edit doesn't seem to fit the context. Doesn't look like a machine translation at all, but a verbatim copy of promotional text. If it were a machine translation, it was a very good one. Not weighing in on the edit at all - in fact without spending a ton of time on it verifying I'm suspicious that text was plagiarized anyway (eg, lifted directly and put in without citing/quoting). Cheers! draeath (talk) 14:52, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The vast majority of plot summaries I see added to Italian/French films of that era that I see are poor translations with terrible English. That one isn't much better, but the fact it's a WP:COPYVIO too is even more reason to remove it. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:58, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stub

Hello Lugnuts. Thank you for tagging an article as a stub. I noticed that you used the {{stub}} template. In the future, it would be greatly appreciated if you could sort the article to a subcategory by using one of these templates instead. For example, you can use {{US-novelist-1960s-stub}} for an American novelist born in the 1960s. Of course, if you can't find a proper category, you can always use the {{stub}} tag and someone else will sort it for you, or you can propose a new stub template or category here. Thanks!

My recent edit on Fish Tank

This is in regards to my recent edit on Fish Tank. I would like to draw attention to my edit summary which I do not believe was interpreted correctly when it you decided to revert this edit given your reference of Wikipedia:SPOILERS as justification. When I used, "Not only" I was attempting to convey that the problematic spoiler was in addition to a basic problem of content, namely that the "section was more akin to a plot point than part of a introductory plot summary." Not mentioned as well is the fact that the prior phrasing stretches the truth in characterizing these two as having a sexual relationship (in fact, sex signified the end of their relationship) or in describing this as the focus of the film's plot. So the implication was not that the editorially unnecessary presence of spoilers was in violation of a Wikipedia policy, but that the it was bad form, essentially that it added insult to injury. I will wait on your response so as not to imply an edit war, but I stand strongly behind the content of my edit. SeiADP (talk) 08:34, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this. Per WP:BRD, you were bold, I reverted it, so I'd recommend you raise it on the talkpage to gain a consensus on the change. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:58, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so soundtrack listing is under "disputed", not "inappropriate" use. And in the case of Dolan's film the score is a quite important matter, considering the songs were director's original choice to ilustrate the image. I still don't understand why you've deleted the list of songs claiming it was "a trivia". If the music in the film is "a trivia", then isn't a cast list only "a trivia"? Aren't so plot and reception? Come on... Francesco 13 (talk) 20:02, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo, I came across Maesmore Morris (actress) while stub-sorting, and decided that the lady should be at Gertrude Morris (no-one would ever have called her "Maesmore Morris", only "Mrs Maesmore Morris" or "Mrs Morris"). Having moved her (and made redirects from "Mrs ...") I was about to do a WP:RM for Maesmore Morris (cricketer) to move him to the base name, as the dab page isn't needed. (I've already added a hatnote to his page in anticipation). Just thought I'd check with you that it's a "non-controversial" RM. Is that OK by you? PamD 14:57, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We noticed though that when you edited Shooting at the 1976 Summer Olympics – Mixed 25 metre rapid fire pistol, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Alfredo González and Steven Kelly (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi Lugnuts. I am Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick from the French Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons where I work about cycling. I see you develop one month ago the Template:ProCyclingStats. Today, I create a similar template, Modèle:ProCyclingStats, but it use only the datas from Wikidata, thanks to ProCyclingStats ID. Is it possible you adapt your template to Wikidata ? I have the possibility to add it on the English Wikipedia when I add it for the French Wikipedia, and it will be interesting to work together in the future.

I have also other projets with infoboxes in a first time, but I continue the tests. The idea is to centralise on Wikidata a maximum of data to permits to contributors to save time, and work more and more easily. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 09:48, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just have adapted Template:ProCyclingStats to Wikidata, and I do a try with Steven Lammertink. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 11:57, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. I will annonce the new change on the page of the project. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 12:03, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is the biggest project of illustration in Wikipedia. I will create a category who lists all my galeries of files by date, it will be more easy to show. The new step of my project is to use Wikidata for all the datas, that will permits me a day to produce articles in 20 langages of each race I take in photo, and other contributors will save time that will permit them to identify the cyclists on the photos or writing the articles. I also do cartography, and I have a project with a camera GoPro (the only thing it lacks is the permission of the UCI). Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick (talk) 12:23, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at The Hit & Run Album. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:49, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi Ritchie. If you look at the edit history of the article in question, this was edited by an IP editor who constantly re-added unsourced info to said article, despite many warnings on their talkpage not to do so. This user was then blocked. They came back with a slightly different IP address to insert the exact same unsourced info today, and this was reverted again. I've requested page protection for this article to stop this esculating any further. I believe WP:3RRNO would cover this on both obvious vandalism and sock edits. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:54, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I've unblocked, which I hope is OK per your comment Ritchie. Lugnuts may IAR on occasion but overall, IMHO he's a net benefit to the project. But Lugnuts, please play by the rules in future.  Philg88 talk 19:10, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that there was no place to see that a discussion had taken place other than back and forth between you and the IPs. I would have blocked them too except they had gone stale / recycled so it wouldn't prevent anything. Another IP (outside of the range you were warring with) had made good faith edits, so a semi-protection would have been problematic. Anyway, hopefully another admin will see the unblock request and I'm happy to say now if they disagree with the block they are free to reverse it without asking me. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:57, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Ritchie333: the discussion is at User talk:95.151.148.84. Which then resulted in a personal attack] by the IP. Who is now editing as 95.146.136.242 (slightly different address, same location) and adding EXACTLY the same unsourced rumours. I ask you to please take a second look. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:06, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Looks reasonable to me. If you're not online Ritchie, and per your edit summary, I'll unblock Lugnuts in a few minutes. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:09, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As an aside, you should probably be a little more careful about what you revert as vandalism. In particular, here you reverted as "vandalism" not jusst the unreferenced edits, but also Category:Upcoming albums added by another editor. Huon (talk) 19:12, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you TRM. Pretty poor though Ritchie if I'm honest. No real investigation on your behalf, no heads up of what you might do, just straight in there. I'm not saying I'm beyond being blocked and don't want a free pass, but maybe next time you'll dig a bit deeper before getting trigger happy. And I guess the block log stays on my record now. Now, back to building an encyclopedia. Happy days. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:17, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I mulled it over and thought "does this need to go to a block or will a warning suffice?" Anyway, maybe it was a piss poor block, in which case sorry about that. Still, as others have hinted at, mind your content disputes - when dealing with these issues, revert + template isn't too effective in getting the message across. A personalised note on talk works wonders. Now, back to London street articles... Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 19:43, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Your "mulling it over" was to block me two minutes before answering the request for page protection. Not alot of mulling. And you saying "The only way to cure the edit war is to block you for 24 hours" leads me to the conclusion that I simply wont bother reporting any vandalism and leave it for some other poor sod to deal with. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:50, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
'Tis over, my friend, time to let it go ...  Philg88 talk 21:09, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken a look at the edits in question and they are not only consistent additions of unsourced content, but also removal of sourced content. [1] [2] [3] The evidence does indeed suggest a content dispute, but one that does not even closely hold in contention two opposing versions of what is considered acceptable content. I'm giving the page a week of semi-protection so that the article can have a breather. I'm not interested in siding with one person or another here; I'm just clerking RFPP and trying to do what's best for an article based on what I see. Airplaneman 05:36, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you APM. Obviously Ritchie would rather have a version which removes sourced content and is inferior. Which is super. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:45, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I think you're a good editor Lugnuts, and your version of the article is obviously better. However, I also think that an up and coming Prince album is just the sort of thing that will attract lots of IP edits; some good, some bad, some "meh", and I'm just a bit uncomfortable about shutting them all out. Sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't with these sorts of things. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 07:46, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ritchie. Have a read of point 1 on this guy's user page. I like the bit "Don't write articles based upon knowledge that you half-remember learning, but have no idea from where or from whom. Write articles based upon actual, concrete, sources". If you want articles guaranteed to bring in the IP editors, start some on Nepalese cricket and Indian films. Shine on, you crazy diamond. Thanks for your edits on this article. But the BBC link you provide states that the title of the album will be HITNRUN and not The Hit & Run Album.

"An earlier version of this story gave the album title as The Hit & Run Album. Prince's publicists have since confirmed the title to be HITNRUN."

WikiProject templates

Please don't guess the name of a WikiProject - a number of the templates that you've added to talk pages simply don't exist. Here are five that I've just fixed for you; you can avoid this by previewing - if there's a redlink, the template doesn't exist. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:51, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I couldn't be bothered finding the correct names to be honest, knowing that someone else would fix it. They should exist as redirects though. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:48, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gloria (2014 film)

Yes, my edit was with AWB. But I DID check it out. It puts a couple of paragraph spaces above the stub templates, so that they are not all bunched up under text. The way you've got it looks cluttered. I will check the manual of style, but I suspect your way violates it. I'll leave this — and your other reversions alone — until I know for sure. David Cannon (talk) 01:13, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

David Cannon editing discussion

This is in reply to [your latest edit on the help desk].

  • First of all I think this discussion has gone well past the point where it is appropriate for the help desk. I realize that you didn't start the thread, but it is now over-the-top, in my view.
  • Secondly you wrote "Cannon seems only to exist to boost his edit count with automated tools. There's no quality or care with these edits." I think you are wrong there. I have disagreed with both the content of his edits and the use of AWB in the past, but as far as I can tell all of his edits are made in good faith and aimed at improving the project. Also, that is on the edge of an WP:NPA violation.
  • Thirdly, you wrote: "Example text". That was a simple inquiry as to the purpose of a single specific edit, not a challenge, and had nothing to do with the automated nature of the edit as far as i can see.
  • Fourthly, I don't think adding categories such as Category:Fijian people of British descent to a BLP is the kind of controversial content that needs to be sourced without fail.
  • Fifthly, you wrote "I've already shown this editor knows little or nothing about BLP policy. I thought that was a core value of WP? " I remember when the BLP policy was first instituted. Many thought it was a mistake, or that it went too far. I was among them. It now has wide consensus and I generally agree with it, but some are way too zealous in enforcing it, as the recent Kww arb case shows, in my view. But the core values are WP:V, WP:NPOV, WP:N, and WP:NOT as I see it.

Now, please stop this at the help desk. If you really think serious violations have occurred, take it to WP:ANI. or if you think that the AWB rules have been violated to the point that AWB access should be revoked, perhaps WT:AWB would be better. That is my opinion. DES (talk) 19:56, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Typical response. Well done. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:33, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
