-teratogenic
-Excess phenylalanine is teratogenic. Uncontrolled maternal PKU can therefore damage the unborn child with common adverse features including growth retardation, microcephaly, mental retardation, and cardiac anomalies. The child will be a carrier for PKU – but is unlikely to have PKU – because the risk of the father being a carrier is 1 in 50 (unless he is related). Excluding maternal PKU as the cause requires plasma phenylalanine measurement in the mother. Urinary amino acids are unreliable as they only reflect renal threshold, and therefore it is possible to have levels sufficiently high in the blood to damage a fetus, but normal in the urine.

Landau–Kleffner syndrome (LKS)
A very rare epilepsy syndrome with an age of onset of 3–6 years characterised by loss of
language (after a period of normal language development) associated with an epilepsy of
centrotemporal origin, more specifically bitemporal spikes on EEG with enhancement in sleep or
continuous spike and wave during slow sleep.

Panayiotopoulos syndrome
Epilepsy syndrome presenting in early childhood (mean 4–7 years) with rare seizures that are
prolonged. Characterised by autonomic features including vomiting, pallor and sweating followed
by tonic eye deviation, impairment of consciousness with possible evolution into a secondarily
generalised seizure. Prognosis is excellent and treatment often unnecessary.

Although I had not replied to your response to joining my WP:MED, I had really felt glad. I had met the persons active on Bengali wikipedia when I had visited [[kol meeting]]. But, they would not be able to help me out when I edit medical articles. Currently I am in the process of editing [[rop]]. Inspite of a good number of edits already going into it, a significant more is yet to go in. I would request you to review my edits and guide me about any improvisation that I need to bring in the style of edits I make. Also suggest whether editing alone is a nice idea as in [[allopathy]] my edits got removed [[]].

Lumbar puncture
-Applied anatomy - Needle is passed into the inter-laminar space which is present only in the lumbar region. To perform a lumbar puncture, a needle is passed through the interlaminar space in the midline while the vertebral column is flexed. Flexion separates the laminae of the vertebrae and increases the interlaminar space. This is done in the area where the spinal cord is absent, to avoid injury to the spinal cord. Generally the spinal cord ends between L1 and L2. On the other hand it must be done at a level where the subarachnoid space (which comes down to about S2) is still there since it is where the CSF lies. So it should be done at a level low enough to avoid injury to the spinal cord or high enough to get into the Subarachnoid space. L4 gives such an average.
The layers that the needle must pass through are:
# Skin
# Superficial fascia
# Deep fascia
# Supraspinous ligament
# Interlaminar space
# Epidural space
# Duramater
# Arachnoidmater
# Subarachnoid space

ASD
-Primum type asd due to non fusion of endocardial cushion with septum primum. Associated with/statistical correlation with defects of tricuspid and mitral valve as they too form from the endocardial cushion. No such correlation in case of septum secundum asd as it does not form with respect to the endocardial cushion. Endocardial cushion is formed by migration of neural crest cells to the wall of the heart tube. Therefore Primum type asd is a neural crest migration defect.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9630434/Aspirin-could-prevent-thousands-of-miscarriages-leading-doctor.html says "One in five women who suffer repeated miscarriages has a medical condition that means her blood is too thick and sticky which starves the baby of oxygen and can trigger very late pregnancy loss. ... Prof Graham Hughes, of London Bridge Hospital, said a simple blood test can identify their problem and a daily lose dose aspirin costing a few pence can lead to a successful pregnancy.
Speaking at the Aspirin Foundation conference in London, he said current guidelines mean many women are not given the test for Hughes syndrome, named after Prof Hughes, until they suffer many miscarriages, if they are tested at all."

-http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18081940 Aspirin and reproductive outcomes
"In the late 1980s and early 1990s, researchers hypothesized that aspirin could be used to prevent or delay the onset of preeclampsia. This hypothesis was tested in numerous trials which showed limited, but positive results. Subsequently, aspirin has been used in an attempt to improve pregnancy outcomes in women who have both antiphospholipid antibodies and a history of recurrent loss, and has also been used in an attempt to improve the success of in vitro fertilization. In theory, aspirin has both positive and negative effects on reproduction. Aspirin, which suppresses cyclooxygenase, has the potential to interfere with implantation, but also has the potential to support the maintenance of pregnancy. Aspirin is prescribed with increasing frequency to reduce the risk of maternal thrombosis and reduce the risk of miscarriage and poor pregnancy outcome. Aspirin alone, however, is not considered sufficient to prevent thrombosis and even in women with the antiphospholipid syndrome, the question as to whether low-dose aspirin improves pregnancy outcomes has not been answered affirmatively. Aspirin has potential risks. Aspirin inhibits platelet function and can contribute to maternal and fetal bleeding. Aspirin crosses the placenta. Although aspirin has not been associated with other congenital anomalies, it has been associated with an increased risk of vascular disruptions, particularly gastroschisis and possibly premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. Nonetheless, large trials demonstrate low-dose aspirin's relative safety and generally positive effects on reproductive outcomes."

But when test results were evaluated by age, the predictive value of ETT rose. While the treadmill test predicted arterial disease in only 36 percent of the youngest group (aged 35 to 50 years) of study participants, it successfully identified the condition in 68 percent of those aged 65 years and older, when the prevalence of coronary artery disease rises sharply for women."

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details beside a magnifying glass followed by clicking said button,
  4. If the article is available in Pubmed Central, you have to add the pmc parameter manually -- click on "show additional fields" in the template and you will see the "pmc" field. Please add just the number and don't include "PMC".

We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note.
