  • 1-2 paragraphs explaining what is shown in the image.

As well as helping those categorising the image, it will help place the image in context and allow other users of the image (including academics) to make better use of the image :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:09, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Donmike10. You have new messages at CABEGOD's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:03, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Director templates

Hello! I see that you have worked on director templates. I have some concerns about the extent of breaking up certain bodies of directed works by decade. Could you please share your thoughts at this discussion? Erik (talk | contribs) 23:24, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About Template:Peter Greenaway: WP:NAVBOX is pretty clear in that unlinked text should be avoided in navigation templates, so the release years shouldn't be there unless necessary for disambiguation. It doesn't say anything in particular about groups for different decades, but the default for any smaller navbox is to have no groups; there is no reason to inflate it with groups when none are needed. Grouping by decade is no natural way to break down a filmography, and although I think such groups can be handy for really large filmographies, this is not the case with Peter Greenaway.
The topic was recently up for debate at WP:FILM here where I explained my arguments in more detail. I would appreciate if we could discuss this instead of reverting each other with empty edit summaries. At the very least, the Peter Greenaway template should be changed back to include all articles under its scope, not just the movies. Smetanahue (talk) 22:28, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:1.5 Liter of Arrowhead.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:1.5 Liter of Arrowhead.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:20, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Link to videodetective

You reverted my deletion of the external link to the trailer: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hanna%27s_War&diff=prev&oldid=422875887 . have you looked at that site? It's clustered with facebook and twitter links and offers a trailer in moderate quality. And why should a trailer be linked anyway? I previously had asked here for guidence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film#External_links . Cheers :) -Koppapa (talk) 17:40, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - the site has a lot of useless garbage but it has the full trailer even if it's in moderate quality. Think about if you were a kid in school and happen to stumble across the article. You have never seen or heard of the film and it's not available for rental. It peaks your curiosity and you get to watch the trailer for it. This shows you about the fact it's some kind of random b-movie from the 80s. you get the actors, the situation etc. in a way which could never be properly explained in words. We are here to provide information. This trailer does just that; it provides so much information in a variety of ways. Deleting the link to the trailer is just us removing information, no matter how trite it may seem at times. There is no upside to removing it - only a downside. Templates

Actually, because you did not interlink them to the main template like most other subsystems of templates, I did not notice them until after I had created the more standard format. Then, having created a whole new system, it was a matter of which ones were "better". If you had linked them to the main template with footers, I would not have created new ones. See how most of the other main templates are linked to the subsystems by footers.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:43, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. before I reorganized all the categories, the main templates were not even in the subcats of Academy Awards templates. This is another reason I did not see your templates.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:46, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you're trusting IMDB so blindly. Anyone can add content to it. I've read the whole James Curtis biography on Spencer Tracy, which goes into a lot of detail about the film, and there is no mention of them going to Ecuador. Hell, there's no way Tracy would've agreed to that. All the acting was shot in Cuba and LA. --Lobo (talk) 22:38, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mariette. I actually felt really bad removing your well thought out review, as I'm sure your intentions are obviously good. Unfortunately, we are here to act as an encyclopedia and we are against individuals posting their own reviews or opinions. There are policies which have been established among the editors that govern which reviews can be used ie published in a major periodical, etc. Think about if everyone could simply write their review on a film page. You could have millions of people attempting to add their own thoughts on a particular film and it would be maddening.Donmike10 (talk) 17:55, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 9

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 54th Berlin International Film Festival, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Magnifico (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Orphaned non-free media (File:Orphans French.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Orphans French.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 14:31, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nightmare Circus

The reason I had changed the article to a redirect was due to the lack of coverage in reliable sources. All I could find was two reviews. Other than that all that I could really find were passing mentions about this in relation to its director or brief reviews in places such as VideoHound's database-esque movie book. If you can find a few more reviews or perhaps proof that this has screened since then at a film festival (I'm not picky, even small ones will be fine) then I have no problem with it being re-created. I tried finding some but had very little success myself. In any case, this wasn't an arbitrary decision made just because- we really need more coverage to assert that this passes notability guidelines for films. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:05, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2 reviews is enough for notability, but why in the world would anyone want to remove info makes no sense to me. It actually may help someone with plot, characters, info.Donmike10 (talk) 18:32, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, they're not. Two reviews is not enough to establish notability or show a depth of coverage. We need just a little more. I'm nominating this for AfD. THis has nothing to do with wanting to remove info just to remove it. My thing is that we hold all articles to the same standard as the next one. I don't expect coverage of Citizen Kane proportions, but I would like a little more coverage than what we currently have. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:21, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Nightmare Circus (film) for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Nightmare Circus (film) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nightmare Circus (film) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:27, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would again really like to ask that instead of saying that the two reviews are enough, that you please do some work on finding sources yourself to show notability. I've seen many, many articles deleted due to a lack of coverage despite having 1-2 reviews, so please try looking for sources. There's a chance that others might find some while they're looking since it's now up for AfD, but you really shouldn't rely on other people to do the work for you. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:27, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've never understood why in the world someone would want to remove information that could potentially be useful to someone. Someone may want to know about this odd, peculiar film for whatever reason, and you want them to be redirected to the director? How does that help anybody? It only hurts and doesn't help. Donmike10 (talk) 22:23, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • WP:ITSUSEFUL isn't a policy that we keep articles by. You need to show coverage in reliable sources. Don't get me wrong- I get frustrated over notability guidelines as well, but they're there for a reason and we have to abide by them. On a side note, Letterboxd is a website where anyone can sign up with an account and post a review, so that isn't considered to be a usable source to show notability. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:20, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just can't fathom why removing what could possibly be even one little bit of potentially useful information would outweigh having it gone altogether. Donmike10 (talk) 06:25, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Weekend Pass.jpeg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Weekend Pass.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Puffin Let's talk! 20:22, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Thora Birch - Konerko.png

Thanks for uploading File:Thora Birch - Konerko.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 16:12, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

January 2017

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Thora Birch. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Sundayclose (talk) 02:20, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Fireball, filmed in Guam?

Hello Donmike10, I was look at The Fireball page, it included a category that the film was filmed in Guam, this was added by you. However nowhere on the page does it mention Guam, let alone give a reference for this. I deleted the category. Are you able to give a reference of Guam, allowing reversion of the deletion? Brunswicknic (talk) 14:05, 24 March 2017 (UTC) Dommike10, got your message. Sorry about delay, forgot to look at Watchlist. Can't remember why looking at the fireball, minor actor, random interest, something. I'm not that much into films, but was fascinated by going to IMDb via your link. Followed their links to Guam as location and all sorts of things came up. Perhaps a cinephile (no pressure...) could work with it on Wiki. Though how solid is IMDb? Brunswicknic (talk) 11:54, 11 April 2017 (UTC) @Brunswicknic: You got me on whether or not it was shot there. IMDb be adjusted. Googling it, I found several random sites - http://www.filminamerica.com/Islands/GU/ that seem to confirm that it was, but who knows where they got the info. 420 Collaboration

Thanks for creating Grow House (film). I hope you don't mind me adding the article to the 420 Collaboration page, where we are tracking new and improve cannabis-relateed content until the end of April. April 2017

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Mercedes Masohn. Thank you. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 23:47, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you continue to add unsourced birth dates, you can be blocked. Please stop doing this. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 23:48, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@NinjaRobotPirate: you're actually spreading false info. She was 100% born March 30, 1982, but by all means, go with whatever she wants. I'll stop changing it. If she wants people thinking she was born 1983, I won't fight it. Donmike10 (talk) 23:51, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your claim is unsourced, and we have citations to the opposite, including a newspaper. If you continue to add unsourced claims to biographies of living people, I will block you from editing Wikipedia. This is not a playground where you can "set the record straight" on what you believe to be true about celebrities. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 23:55, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@NinjaRobotPirate: Seriously, ease up. Did I not write just above that I would not change it again? I'm well aware that this "isn't a playground." I have a long, good history with Wikipedia. This is not something I believe. I am looking at a copy of her passport right this very second as I wrote this. Either way, I'm good to go. Will not change. Hi Donmike10. As you've seen, I removed some poorly sourced information from Ryan Malaty. Please re-review WP:BLP and WP:RS. I'm sure you're aware how important it is to make sure high-quality sources are used for biographical information. --Ronz (talk) 16:25, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 12

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Thora Birch, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page A24 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:15, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:11, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
