What template to use for the need to update a reference?

Hello! I'm browsing wikipedia articles, as per usual, but when I checked a reference on one of the articles, it is from 2007.

This was about a port being the 3rd busiest port, however a new port just opened up back in 2016 that probably is busier. I tried checking port statistics, but the port is privately owned and under government regional statistics for ports, it is indirectly referenced as part of private ports.

I have digressed, so anyways, in this situation what template do you need for the need in updating a reference that now seems unreliable given the situation?

How to make mapframe with a highlighted road using coordinates

Hi, all! I am trying to make <mapframe> which highlights a road with a red line. You can see what I have done in my user sandbox. The map is drawn, but the road isn't highlighted. When I copy the GeoJSON code to the editor at http://geojson.io/, it does work to highlight the road. Can anyone say why it doesn't work here in my sandbox?

(Disclaimer: I intend to use the code at the Danish Wikipedia, but ask here because you have more users with advanced technical knowledge than we have at dawiki. Thank you for your help!) --Dipsacus fullonum (talk) 02:30, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did found a solution myself now. The GeoJSON was fine, but I changed from using a selfclosing mapframe tag to using separate opening and closing tags. --Dipsacus fullonum (talk) 07:47, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dipsacus fullonum: I'm glad you found the answer. In the future, technical issues like these can be brought to the Village Pump TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:55, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will do that next time. Thank you for the pointer to a better place to ask. --Dipsacus fullonum (talk) 22:48, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    RE: MLAs and MPs

I tried to look up the MP [MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR CANADA] FOR THIS REGION OF EAST HASTINGS AND JACKSON STREETS....but got only MLA listings! WHoever did this write up clearly did NOT understand that an MP is a Member of Parliament in Ottawa House of Commons and is NOT an MLA, which is the label for Member of the Legislative Assemby in the provincial capital of Victoria!! Federal and provincial jurisdiction are VERY DIFFERENT and refer to different offices, but am still working on trying to find the correct answers to this one post recent federal election here!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.116.27.53 (talk) 05:48, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, MLAs and MPs are Canadian politicians of different levels. I'm sure if you linked to the articles in question (or even just told us which articles they were) someone would be happy to fix them. Meters (talk) 06:04, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
After some research I suspect you refer to Vancouver-Hastings. The opening sentence says: "Vancouver-Hastings is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada." It's not a federal electoral district so it doesn't elect an MP. See Vancouver East for the larger federal electoral district with the MP Jenny Kwan. That's probably it. I tried to track it down but I don't know my West Coast ridinga. Meters (talk) 18:37, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Check and correct Agrahari page

Hello Wikipedia, Your platform is providing wrong information about Agrahari. Agrahari are descendants of Agrasen but someone has added Lord Rama's name without any source and also deleted the image of Agrasena ad replaced it with Lord Rama's Image. These changes were made on 6 October 2019. You can check history. Please correct it. How can you allow this to happen? People are adding false information without any source with different IPs and no one is paying attention to it. Can someone from Wikipedia please fix it and also remove unsourced information added by IPs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2401:4900:1808:7B19:8EF8:766F:F3F:774C (talk) 20:04, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Ray Allen

On two occasions, I've cited reputable sources stating that Ray Allen, former NBA all-star, holds a position on the Board of Trustees of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. He was appointed by President Obama at the end of 2016, and still held that position as of November 2019. The Council website lists him as such. Both times I provided sources, and both times my edit has been removed. It's well established from countless sources that this information is accurate, but apparently there are some Wikipedia users who object to seeing it in Ray's biography. I've edited two other Wikipedia articles, and did not run into the same problem. My question is, what must I do to get this important information properly recorded in Ray's biography?

Text of specific disclaimer inappropriately added to Viktor Frankl by now-blocked user Palimpsest 100

    Disclaimer

This Wikipeda article was written by user Boundarylayer. It it to be read with caution, as it presents the views of its author, which seem to be based on quite a few misunderstandings, as well as on distorted information. This disclaimer was written by a third party, as a reaction to the pervasive bias present in the text.

User Boundarylayer does not mention Frankl’s work with the Young Socialist Workers (1921), his position as spokesman of the Austrian Socialist High School Students Association (1924), nor the forced abortion of his wife’s child by the Nazis (1942). What the text below contains is a reductionistic rendering of the work of Tymothy Pytell.

The American historian openly confessed bias, as well as disdain for Viktor Frankl.

Resentment from Holocaust survivors is also expressed below. Curiously enough, some seem to equate ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ / ‘Work Shall Set You Free’, the criminal Nazi logo looming over Auschwitz, with Frankl’s idea that life is meaningful because of one’s work, one’s love, or because of one’s adopting an attitude of defiance when faced with difficulty.

With all due respect, it is not apparent where this resentment comes from. However, it is visible that it produces a distorted reading, to say the least.

The link between work and freedom goes back to Alfred Adler, who, alongside Freud, was one of Frankl’s important influences. As a sidenote, Nazi psychotherapy was based on the ideas of Alfred Adler, as Matthias Goring had been trained in this school. However, Alfred Adler himself was a social idealist, publicly known for his socialist political affiliation. The use of his ideas about ‘will to power’ by the Nazis would have surely made him uneasy. The profound misunderstanding of those ideas by the Nazis as regards his theory of man and society would have been deeply troubling.

At this point it becomes obvious that the complexity of Frankl’s theory and thinking is either misrepresented, or overlooked in the text below.

Furthermore, anything religious is presented as authoritarian - be it organized religion, personal religious experience, or intellectual pursuits of a spiritual nature.

The whole text is written less as an encyclopedia entry, as it is used by the author, user Boundarylayer, as an opportunity to strike someone as a Nazi and as an intellectual buffoon. In comparison, the work of Pytell is moderate. However, Pytell’s interpretation is obviously marked by his atheism and his respective ignorance of all things outside his worldview. This makes him blind to religious concerns deeply shared by other important therapists of Frankl’s age. Just to give an example, one can cite here, again, the name of Alfred Adler.

Then, the idea that logotherapy is ‘authoritarian’, expressed by one of Frankl’s American colleagues, Rollo May, is quite absurd if one reads Frankl’s work. This reaction stems from an automatic association of religion and authoritarianism, which is part of the post-Enlightenment worldview. However, in logical terms, to equate religion with dictatorship is only a ‘wild generalization’. Also, the idea that Frankl ‘provided meaning’ to his patients is quite humorous. It also goes against his methodology, which actually meant quietly assisting someone find his own way.

What the accusation above underlines is a deep mistrust in the very idea of meaning, which is part of a nihilistic outlook Frankl obviously was not an adept of, unlike some of his American colleagues. However, when voiced in all sincerity, this mistrust is a sign of conflicting sources of meaning, going against what Frankl defined as such for himself, which is both legitimate and acceptable.

In any case, whatever Frankl meant by ‘therapy’, ‘meaning’, or ‘religion’ is not at issue.

Rather it is his public persona that is being aimed at. There is nothing below that successfully disproves Frankl as a psychiatrist and as an innovator in his discipline. To try to do that would mean to take his work into account, and that is not something you will find in the article written by user Boundarylayer.

What you will find is angry reflections of Pytell’s work on Frankl’s collaborationism, or on his experiments on deceased people. Questioning one’s predecessors is a duty. However, what seems to be laid on the table here is a yet not properly grounded set of accusations issued by Pytell, as well as a great need that these were believed by the reader according to the narrative proposed by user Boundarylayer.

Juhayna (company) how to remove this template message, there are already resources about the company.--Ahmed Nader Khalifa (talk) 09:49, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ahmed Nader Khalifa. All three of the referecnes currently in the article are based on interviews or press releases from the company. Thus they are not independent of the company, and do nothing whatever to establish that the company is notable, and may be the subject of a Wikipedia article. Please understand that Wikipedia is basically uninterested in what the subject of an article says about itself, whether in its own publications, or in interviews or press releases. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and unprompted by the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable places. Unless (at least) two or three such sources are added, the article is likely to get deleted. --ColinFine (talk) 10:20, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So i should provide more resources from different newspapers?, okay let me provide them please don’t delete it --Ahmed Nader Khalifa (talk) 01:21, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not about which newspaper, Ahmed Nader Khalifa: it is about whether the source is indepedent. Those articles are based on interviews or press releases, so are not indepedent. The same newspaper might have another article another day which is independent of the company. You need to look at every source with a critical eye. As for deleting it: nobody has so far nominated Juhayna (company) for deletion, but they might if it does not acquire some independent sources. --ColinFine (talk) 12:47, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a constructive suggestion for improvement to an article, you should do it yourself, unless (as in this case) you have a conflict of interest (WP:COI). When you have a COI, you should make your suggestion on the talk page of the affected article, being careful to provide links to reliable sources to make live easier for any editor who might wish to help you even though they are not getting paid. Dear Wikipedia

I write to you on behalf of the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) and we seriously complaint about a wrong and misleading information of our organisation NUSOJ in Wikipedia. The concerned link is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Union_of_Somali_Journalists

NUSOJ is a craft union which is an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). We have been a victim for many years of an egregious human rights oppression by the government of Somalia which has used several elements including notorious PR agency to destroy and take over union unlawfully. The human rights oppression against us was widely condemned even by the UN human rights experts: https://www.ohchr.org/en/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=19924&LangID=E

The UN’s international labour organisation has investigated our oppression and confirmed that our government is guilty ridden and we are the legitimate leadership of NUSOJ. See attached ILO decisions which the government finally accepted.

The name of our organisation is trademarked. In my capacity as NUSOJ Secretary General, I am is the owner of the European Union Trade Mark registrations no. 015991169 and 017884365 for the name and the logotype of the “National Union of Somali Journalists NUSOJ”, in class 41. I am authorized by NUSOJ to register said marks. The above EUTM registrations legally allow me to prevent third parties from using, in the course of publishing such as the case now in Wikipedia, any identical or similar signs for the same or similar services (Article 9 European Union Trade Mark Regulation).

This clearly puts Wikipedia in an infringement position of trademarked name. The person who has been impersonating as NUSOJ, Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu (which is still mentioned in Wikipedia as representative of our union) was convicted by the EU court of trademarks in Alicante, Spain, that he has no right to use the name of NUSOJ and now is being punished. He was further convicted by the German court in Hamburg. We sent court rulings into your email: info-en-q@wikimedia.org

Yesterday we tried to edit the information about our organisation NUSOJ in Wikipedia to provide accurate information but today one of the editors User: A-NEUN had removed our accurate information and reinserted the old, false information. Furthermore, user A-NEUN threatened that we will be “blocked from editing” and accused us of copyright infringement. No, this is not true, as there is no copyright infringement as we got the information we inserted from our own website (http://www.nusoj.org/about-us/).

We therefore to request you to rectify this wrong information by reinserting the accurate information we inserted yesterday and respect our trademark rights of NUSOJ.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards Omar

I have no idea about which information is correct, but the website to which you link has a copyright notice that Wikipedia takes seriously, therefore you cannot copy content from that site, even if you wrote it yourself, without releasing the copyright. It would be simpler to express the same information in alternative words to avoid copyright issues. Because you have a WP:Conflict of interest, it would be best if you suggest changes on the talk page of the article. Wikipedia just reports what it finds in WP:Reliable sources, but I guess the 2016 source is now out of date and the facts need updating. Dbfirs 15:01, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Faruk129. Trademark law, in both the US (the jurisdiction Wikipedia is subject to) and the EU generally limits use of a trademark withotu authorization to sell or advertise mproducts or services, or where customers or potential customers might reasonably be confused about who is responsible for a product or service, or a statement about a product or service. it does not prevent others from discussing the trademarked product or organization, and using the trademark to identify it. Multiple uses of the same reference

Hey all, my question: Let's say we're looking at Rajavinte Makan. The financial data in the infobox is attributed to this source, formatted thusly:

    <ref name="Rajavinte Makan">{{Cite web |url=https://www.manoramaonline.com/movies/movie-news/2018/10/02/mohanlal-thampi-kannanthanam.html |title=ഒറ്റ ദിവസം കൊണ്ട് മോഹൻലാലിനെ സൂപ്പർസ്റ്റാറാക്കിയ തമ്പി കണ്ണന്താനം |date=2018-10-02 |website=[[Malayala Manorama]] |access-date=2018-10-02}}</ref>

Now if another piece of information is suppored by that reference, I would use this format to repeat the reference inline elsewhere in the article.

    <ref name="Rajavinte Makan"/>

Is there any way for me to repeat the reference, but add a quote? I know the {{cite web}} template has a quote parameter, but the quote I want would not be relevant to the film's financial data. So I want to point to the same reference, but note something different about it. How would I do that? Thanks! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:59, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not currently possible, I believe. But there's a feature under development that would allow you do this. When the feature is enabled on enwiki you'd be able to add quote to the second reference and not the first by using <ref extends="Rajavinte Makan">Your quote here</ref>. – Ammarpad (talk) 17:47, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Interesting! Thanks Ammarpad. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:03, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    (edit conflict)
Meh. If the quote is important to the article, put the quote in the article text and then cite it; don't hide the quote away somewhere in the bowels of the references section. Also, your cite web should be using |script-title= instead of |title= and also |language=.
    Trappist the monk (talk) 18:11, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's not my cite web. I just happened upon the article, where the reference already existed. But I'll fix it. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:24, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well I like quotes in reference sections if they make verification easier. You could do short footnotes: <ref>Kumar, 2018: "Bla bla bla"</ref> or a linked <ref>{{harvnb|Kumar|2018}}: "Bla bla bla"</ref> (note that you need to add |last=Kumar|year=2018|ref=harv to the original citation for the link to work). An alternative but lesser used solution is a nested reference: {{refn|"Bla bla bla"<ref name="Rajavinte Makan"/>}}Thjarkur (talk) 20:11, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Þjarkur: Thanks for that. I think {{refn}} seems to be the easiest. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:25, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CSIing - Orangemike deleted your article as it didn't meet the MMA guidelines for notability. I'm not entirely sure we should be outright deleting drafts due to not quite meeting notability guidelines, but if there is a lot of information that you would like to see again, you can either try the above user's talk, or WP:REFUND. I don't know much about the subject, but if they simply need another fight, it may be a WP:NOTNOW situation. I don't see the hard in a draft for the article existing - but I also can't see the article to comment on the quality of it.
Hopefully the above is helpful. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:22, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, CSIing. I have posted at User talk:Orangemike asking Orangemike (the deleting admin) to restore the draft. However, even if it is restored, notability will need to be established in some fashion for this to be an article. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 17:57, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Converting a bunch of references to use templates

On 2016 deaths in American television, I noticed that a notable number of the 198 references are made from a format like, for example:

<ref>[http://www.advocate.com/transgender/2016/9/08/lady-chablis-trans-icon-and-savannahs-grand-empress-dead-59 "Lady Chablis, Trans Icon and Savannah's Grand Empress, Dead at 59"] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191017211312/https://www.advocate.com/transgender/2016/9/08/lady-chablis-trans-icon-and-savannahs-grand-empress-dead-59 |date=2019-10-17 }} from ''The Advocate'' (8 September 2016)</ref>

This is a fine format, except it doesn't use a template. Templates are really good for making stuff easy to edit, and when edited update a bunch of pages at once, and are good for keeping stuff consistent. Is there any tool I can use to quickly convert references in an article into templates, like how the Visual Editor can with only a link or like how Refill can take a bare reference and turn it into a template in a browser? Thanks! DemonDays64 (talk) 04:25, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DemonDays64: You'll want to discuss it at WT:WikiProject Death first. The small group of editors that work on pages like Deaths in 2019 seem to be against use of templates for refs. I suspect the page you are discussing is maintained by the same editors. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 05:39, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The content actually came from 2016 in American television, but I'm not sure if they had the same objections or not. Onetwothreeip (talk) 05:50, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@AlanM1: huh, any link to info about why they dislike them? Thanks, DemonDays64 (talk) 05:53, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DemonDays64: It's in the FAQ at Talk:Deaths in 2019, though the reasoning there is somewhat misleading, as the template is processed when the page is rendered into the cache (AFAIK), not when it is "loaded" by readers. Use search if you want to find the arguments, or ask at the talk page, but (based on experience) wear some flame-proof clothing. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 06:02, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, DemonDays64, please look at WP:CITEVAR, where it says "Editors should not attempt to change an article's established citation style merely on the grounds of personal preference, to make it match other articles, or without first seeking consensus for the change"; and, later "[avoid] adding citation templates to an article that already uses a consistent system without templates, or removing citation templates from an article that uses them consistently;". --ColinFine (talk) 11:32, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

22nefi, some articles have a recording made by Wikipedia:WikiProject Spoken Wikipedia. There is a list of articles that have been recorded here Wikipedia:Spoken articles.
You may also be able to use text to speech software to read any webpage, including Wikipedia. These might be a bit robotic, but would work. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:12, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Submitting a new article for review

    Hi,

I'm new to Wiki. Created my first entry and would like to publish it. I have tried to follow Wiki step by step guide to create a page and submit it for review. Tried many suggestions from FAQs on how to submit a page for review but was unsuccessful in making it happen so now asking help desk.

Can you point me to a good step by step resource guide for creating and entry in Wiki and submitting it for review so it can be published

    Thanks much

Spenymo You can submit a draft using Articles for creation; however, if you were to submit your draft at this time, it would likely be rejected. You would need to show that this term you are writing about is in widespread use and is discussed in independent reliable sources. Please see WP:NEOLOGISM. You may also wish to read Your first article. 331dot (talk) 15:13, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Spenymo, If you're asking about User:Spenymo/sandbox, it will not be published, as it is not an encyclopedic article.
Per WP:NOTNEO we generally don't host articles about neologisms, unless there is significant coverage of the use of the Neologism in reliable sources. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:15, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wikitionary would describe your new word as a Wikt:protologism and would not accept an entry until you can show that it has been used in three independent sources spanning at least a year. You are welcome to add it to Wikt:Appendix:List of protologisms if you so wish. Dbfirs 18:20, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Are wikipedia editors paid for their work? Although I know it's a nonprofit organisation but just for curiosity.🤔🤔(223.230.172.15 (talk) 15:24, 26 December 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Nope. The only people getting paid are in the Foundation, and for legal reasons the Foundation aren't involved in content. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:29, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To expand on previous, the Foundation owns the trademarks and the servers, and generally manage fundraising, and legal matters etc, whilst the volunteer community manage the actual content of the encyclopedia. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:33, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) (x2) No; all editors here are just volunteers, same as yourself and their time is often limited. As mentioned to you previously, Wikipedia has no panel of editors readily available to fulfil your editing requests. Eagleash (talk) 15:35, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We cannot prevent editing by people who edit as part of their job or who get paid by others to edit, but we can and do try hard to constrain and regulate this practice. If you do this without disclosing it, you are in violation of the terms of service of this web site and you are thereby technically committing a "theft of services". See WP:PAID. That's about the best we can do, and it's a lot better than almost any other information source. -Arch dude (talk) 17:27, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kingralf123: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. You use it to find information by putting a search item in the search box at the top right on any page, and by reading the articles and following the blue links to other articles. If you wish to contribute encyclopedic content to our encyclopedia, then the tutorial is a good place to start. -Arch dude (talk) 19:24, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Hunter Biden

The information on his political scandals, especially in Ukraine hasn’t been debunked. It hasn’t even been investigated. This answer was clearly written by someone who is partisan. Definitions shouldn’t be partisan. They should be factual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.13.46.159 (talk) 00:08, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you have specific concerns about the Hunter Biden article, you are free to discuss them on its article talk page- but if you just want to repeat unsubstantiated Republican talking points, you will need to find another website for that- somewhere that you are told what you want to hear, inside your bubble. Here, we summarize what independent reliable sources say. 331dot (talk) 01:02, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    what's going on????

I have an account with wikipedia, its one of my most fave sites. But it seems that when I enter my user name & psswrd it tells me it's wrong.I even used a psswrd generated by y'all and sent to me via email, it still tells me it's wrong Now I've checked, re-checked, then re-re-checked again more times than I can count and I'm sick of it. Can my accountbe deleted so I can just start over with a new account? cause this one is just pissing me off. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:E000:C7D0:78AE:10BB:2CB8:C52D (talk) 05:49, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if this is obvious, but is your CapsLock on? Passwords and usernames are case-sensitive. Make sure you are entering them exactly as in the email. If you cannot recover it, feel free to just create a new account and just abandon the other one. It won't be deleted, but no harm in just not using it again. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 06:02, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Notice of unsigned comments

For multiple comments and requests I've entered on the talk page of a page I'm requesting updates to, I sign the requests with 4 tildes. I've tried using both the insert function, and manually typing them. Each time the post includes my username and the time/date stamp. But an automatic script keeps indicating that my comments are unsigned, and appends "Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellisap (talk • contribs)" to the posts.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:John_E._Fogarty_International_Center

What am I doing wrong? How do I correct my posts, or at least sign them correctly in the future?

Your signature apparently does not contain any link. Maybe that's why the bot is not recognising it. Navigate to Preferences → User profile and look for "signature" section. Untick the box preceding "Treat the above as wiki markup" and also empty the textfield above it. Your signature will become normal (the default one) and the bot will no longer follow you around (provided that you indeed signed properly) – Ammarpad (talk) 14:22, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I just updated the settings. Let's see if it works. Fingers crossed. So far so good. Ellisap (talk) 14:27, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Afican American Perspective on Racism

Why are my edits not being accepted? Do African American not get a say on Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.66.118.132 (talk) 16:26, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your good faith edits to that page. We (other Wikipedia editors) have no way of knowing if you are African American, white American, European, African, or anything else. Your edit removed a large chunk of sourced material from the article, which looks like vandalism to people who watch out for that sort of thing. It sounds like in reality, you weren't trying to harm or vandalize the article, you simply thought that one particular incident was being given too much weight in that biography and were boldly editing in accordance with that thought. The fact that your edits have been reverted means you are now on the "Discuss" portion of the Bold, revert, discuss cycle, which is a hallmark of Wikipedia editing. I would encourage you to visit Talk:Ani DiFranco and explain why you feel that incident is being given too much weight in the article and should be removed. Other interested editors will discuss it with you and hopefully be able to reach a consensus. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:35, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The talk page of the article is at Talk:Ani DiFranco. You should not add personal comments within the article. Such inappropriate material will always be reverted. Dbfirs 18:27, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Providing a translation of one word in an article

Article Avangard_(hypersonic_glide_vehicle) uses an English-language (Latin/Roman) alphabet transliteration of the Russian name - (Russian: Авангард) - of the missile throughout.

However, it seems that the Russian word (Russian: Авангард) translates to vanguard:

    https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Ftass.ru%2Farmiya-i-opk%2F7436431

It seems that using the name "Avengard" (the name in Russian rather than the translated form) in English for this missile is currently conventional, but it strikes me that it'd make sense to provide a translation to the meaning of the word at some point in the article.

Is this a sensible idea? And if so, how should I do it?

One thing I'm not sure of is the appropriate Wikipedia markup to use for a single translated word.

    Thanks.

Inaccurate listing for "American Dad" seasons and episodes

The page currently listing "American Dad" seasons and episodes is inaccurate per listings as noted through television and streaming on Hulu. The seasons' and episodes' numberings on the page are mislabeled, with season 14 listed as 16, and likely include additional errors. Please have an active editor correct this or add a disclaimer note indicating the specific errors.
