The California Flats Solar Project is a 280 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station under construction in the Cholame Hills area of southeastern Monterey County, California, near the San Luis Obispo, Kings, and Fresno County borders in Central California.[1]
The project is owned by California Flats Solar LLC, a subsidiary of First Solar.[1] It will use thin-film technology manufactured by First Solar.[1] The project began construction in 2016 and is expected to be online by 2018.[2][3]
The plant has two power purchase agreements; Apple Inc. is buying 130 MW to power its California operations, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company is purchasing 150 MW.[4]
