Easy Company Deletion

I don't think that your deletion of the Easy Company 505-2 Bat- Easy Company page was warranted - AH (talk) 03:47, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Eiffel Software

I don't understand why you keep wanting to delete "Eiffel Software". The article is referenced from other pages in the Web, which now have broken links. The article had been there for a long time and the company itself has been around since 1985 in Santa Barbara; the notoriety is clear. This is not particularly a promotion page, just factual.

I recreated a page and may not have done it the right way because I am not a Wikipedia expert. But this is only because I noticed the deletion of the page only after several months. In my opinion the original page should be restored, possibly with improvements.

If there are reasons for deletion they are not clear and should be stated explicitly, otherwise it is just an arbitrary act. Santa barbarians (talk) 06:41, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple Article Deletion

Hello. I noticed you had many of my articles deleted. Well a recent development happened and I wish a request to have it undeleted to add this recent source in (http://www.formulascout.com/noah-watt-to-race-in-danish-f4-with-jan-magnussens-team/37011)

I also feel that you appear to be suffering from this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Overzealous_deletion — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jvm21 (talkcontribs) 18:45, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what this is in reference to, other than that it violates WP:CIVIL and WP:AGF. --Kurykh (talk) 04:05, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stig Harder, Fashion Net & Lumiere

Hey Kurykh,

Could you help restore the articles for FASHION NET at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fashion_Net, Lumiere at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumiere_(magazine) and my own at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stig_Harder? I read the reason was there weren't enough references online to establish notability.

I got in touch with Justlettersandnumbers and she/he informed me I could request a WP:deletion review with the reason "significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page." At the Deletion Review article, I read I should talk to the closing administrator first.

The citations you posted, if they are indeed new, would not qualify as "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" under WP:GNG, since they are only passing mentions. Notice how my quoted portion has three parts: (1) significant coverage; (2) reliable sources; and (3) independent of the subject. I stand by my decisions on the AfDs. If you continue to disagree, please take it to WP:DRV. --Kurykh (talk) 03:54, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Kurykh,

Thank you so much for this.

I found the issue of HENNE that the article appeared in; while written in Norwegian, I trust this covers all three criteria. Here's the photo I took of it right now.

Thanks again, Kurykh.

Stigharder (talk) 10:09, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kurykh,

I've had the article in HENNE transcribed and translated into English on Google. After having a good look at WP:GNG it seems this article fulfills all requirements for notability. What do you think?

NORSKTOPPEN:

Stig Harder lanserte Fashion Net i 1995. - Dette markerte noe nytt. New York Times, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The Guardian, CNN, Le Monde, TIME Magazine...., alle beskrev Internett som det nye mediet for mote. Men da Chambre Syndicale senere så hva vi hadde laget, sa de: "Wow - it looks just like a magazine!" TTS

Even if that is one (and that's very debatable), note how WP:GNG and WP:BASIC require more than one source. They don't say how many, but note the plural. As I've said before, you really should head to WP:DRV, but one new source that may not even pass WP:GNG isn't going to get you anywhere. --Kurykh (talk) 05:57, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kurykh,

Thank you so much.

Why do you believe this source is "very debatable"? The other sources that may qualify are Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt's "Mixing Messages" exhibition in 1996-1997 at https://web-beta.archive.org/web/19970215142503/http://mixingmessages.si.edu:80/mm/dialogue/comm5.jhtml;MSkKN8ldt0c3R4wNNhG9EntHIMA793ySd5zF1QNZss8m0lA and https://www.stigharder.com/media/cooper-hewitt-1997.jpg

Also, the instructions at WP:DRV are "Discuss the matter with the closing administrator and try to resolve it with him or her first. If you and the admin cannot work out a satisfactory solution, only then should you bring the matter before Deletion Review." You're that person, so I'm hoping you can help get the pages undeleted.

Heads up on a "coincidence"

Hey Kurykh. I came upon some relatively suspicious activity with a coincidence regarding you (that I suspect may not be one). User:Conflictoreditor, a "brand new" user (or not) in his or her first edits, made five serial deletion requests at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion (all of which I've declined). Two of the requests are for undeletion of pages created by socks of two rather large, separate sock farms (both of which create Indian-related content; this makes me somewhat suspicious the two sockmasters, that have been treated separately, may be one and the same, with this user as the linkage). Anyway, three of the five requests regarding pages deleted through AfDs, and you were the deleting admin on all three (1, 2, 3). Just coincidence? Maybe. Thought I'd give you a heads up anyway.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:18, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for encouraging further debate about that article. It feels very strange to me because this was very innocent - I saw her film at a friend's recommendation; I looked her up and saw a lot of articles and posting about her (including a mention of her and her film for the British Film organization BAFTA on another Wikipedia article) so I started this article. It seems undeniable to me that she has accomplished some notable things - mostly the film D'Ora - so I just don't get this. Can you shed some light for me! Thank you!! Relistings

Hi Kurykh: Just a note that if you're using a script to relist AfD discussions (as I do), it is not updating the correct log date in the discussion after relisting. I manually correct my relistings after using the script. I have corrected this for you for the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Indy Hall AfD discussion (diff). You may want to consider updating your relistings per this matter. North America1000 00:31, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

FabricLive.30

Hi,

You deleted the FabricLive.30 page because of notability failure, and I can understand that. However, why does every other article in this series still exist? @Domdeparis: said he would add the rest of the series to the deletion request, but this didn't happen. I would like to see my article reinstated, or delete the whole series altogether (or add

to the article ;) ). I like Wikipedia, but this inconsistency is driving me nuts. Robcuiper (talk) 07:15, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi the explanation for the deletion was "The result was delete. The available argument for keep is WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, which doesn't address the concerns laid out in the nomination. Kurykh (talk) 21:03, 25 February 2017 (UTC)" and I think the same argument applies for reinstatement. I didn't have time to nominate the other articles, I hope to find the time but feel free to do so yourself. Domdeparis (talk) 09:39, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Kurykh. Hope this message meets you well. I want to create Matse Uwatse article from the scratch, but so that it doesn't qualify under G4, I decided to go to deletion review, on getting there, there was a notification that I must discuss with the closing admin first. This is a summary of my argument:

This article was deleted based on the consensus to delete at the AFD. In terms of policy, it might/should have been kept under a different circumstance. I want to rewrite the article but decided to come here first so that it doesn't qualify under G4. Theoretically, I participated in the AFD that led to its deletion but functionally I can argue that I didn't. Some of the latter delete votes are without strong merit. NBMA is the national award for broadcasters in Nigeria, endorsed by the NBC, just because it was established recently doesn't make it a non-notable body for its winners. BON awards is the oldest Nollywood-only award, and again, just because it was established in the 2000s does not make its winners non-notable. Both are the major awards for professionals in their respective fields. This is Nigeria we are talking about, you don't expect to see award ceremonies that are 50 years old. What we use to measure notability is significant coverage, and these awards have that and the prestige to confer notability on its winners. I believe subject clearly passes WP:ANYBIO and WP:ENT, I can also make a case for WP:GNG. A copy of an older version of the article can be found here (that was before I added a number of sources to it).

I have created close to 300 undeleted articles on WP, if I should recreate, you can be sure it will be encyclopedic, non-promotional and verifiable and inline with guidelines and no experience editor would deem it necessary to nominate for deletion. Do you think I still need to go to deletion review or I should just recreate? Darreg (talk) 09:47, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I accepted the AFC article DaCast because notability has been shown, but I also can't see if the article is substantially different from what was deleted. If it isn't, I will nominate it for speedy deletion as a recently deleted article and take it to DRV. SL93 (talk) 19:26, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Sfmuni logo.png

Thank you for uploading File:Sfmuni logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

Hi. WP:DELREVD says to discuss it with the closing admin first. I have found several sources that I don't believe were in the article at the time. I think it may be notable. Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be emailed to you via Special:EmailUser.

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Kurykh. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Huda Kattan

Hi Kurykh. I came across Huda Kattan via WP:THQ#Someone added several tags to an article I created. I am wondering if this version is an improvement over the one you deleted per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Huda Kattan or is it something which should be tagged for speedy per WP:G4. Just for reference, the article was directly added to the mainspace and was not submitted via AfC and there's no page history remaining for the previous version. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:07, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
  • Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.

Technical news

  • A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.

Guideline and policy news

  • The autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) is scheduled to end on 14 March 2018. The results of the research collected can be read on Meta Wiki.
  • Community ban discussions must now stay open for at least 24 hours prior to being closed.
  • A change to the administrator inactivity policy has been proposed. Under the proposal, if an administrator has not used their admin tools for a period of five years and is subsequently desysopped for inactivity, the administrator would have to file a new RfA in order to regain the tools.
  • A change to the banning policy has been proposed which would specify conditions under which a repeat sockmaster may be considered de facto banned, reducing the need to start a community ban discussion for these users.

Technical news

  • CheckUsers are now able to view private data such as IP addresses from the edit filter log, e.g. when the filter prevents a user from creating an account. Previously, this information was unavailable to CheckUsers because access to it could not be logged.
  • The edit filter has a new feature contains_all that edit filter managers may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string.

House elections 2014

I really like the work you've put in on the new maps for House elections. For the 2014 edition, however, it depicts Republicans picking up NH-2 when it was held by the Democratic incumbent. Could this be adjusted? Iseult Δx parlez moi 06:23, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited California State Senate election, 2018, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tony Mendoza (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
