Wikipedia:WikiProject EastEnders/articles

Hi, I saw you noted that this was out of date. The reason it that it's a page I only updated every now and then, creating an alphabetical list of everything using AWB, which I no longer have access to. So thanks for the update. Hope you didn't do it manually! –anemoneprojectors– 15:17, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Dont tell me there was an easier way... -.- No! Dont worry anyway, I more did it for myself in some respects; I always use it so that means I dont have to log on.. :) MayhemMario 17:30, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, could you not strike my comments? Replying to them would be a better alternative- this is something that some people get rather irritated about, and I believe those involved with FAC have requested that this isn't done by anyone but the person who made the comment. J Milburn (talk) 17:59, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Apologies. :) MayhemMario 19:29, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Mario. Was there any reason that you chose to single out Home and Away topics?Rain the 1 16:53, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi! No reason whatsoever! When creating Sam Nicholls (Casualty), I landed on Sam Nicholls, and saw the state that it was in, the using the nav box, had a look through some more, getting my drift... ANYway, why?! MayhemMario 16:57, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Your butter wouldn't melt routine no longer works. Wikipedia is not a battle ground - Please keep that behaviour to the school playground.Rain the 1 17:05, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Hm? I've seen to have miss something, what? If you think that by talking to George about the articles I picked may have someway have hurt your personally, then I am honestly sorry. But, I really do not see how I could have hurt you, but if I have, sincere apologies. MayhemMario 17:08, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
If you want me to help, if thats what your implying, then yes I will. :) MayhemMario 17:15, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

That was a bad assumption to make. I'm not sad and try to hide myself when there is absolutely no need. GSorbyPing 20:56, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

No, I just thought the IP adress, was you, not bothering to log in! :D I know your not sad, far from it! MayhemMario 21:00, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
No, I always log in, EVERY time. I don't edit without logging in and that image of Cora...really? I know Non-free images shouldn't be uploaded to Commons and I certainly wouldn't upload it at that high resolution! GSorbyPing 21:03, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
I just thought 'How the hell did they find that', they must be stalkers. :/ MayhemMario 21:04, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
No, it's quite common, if you look at these search results for Cora Cross. My draft is the second one down. It should be split soon. GSorbyPing 21:17, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
True, true. MayhemMario 21:18, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Ohhh! How?! GSorbyPing 14:08, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Either use the template {{Userspace draft}} or type __NOINDEX__ in the page (the template uses noindex anyway) –anemoneprojectors– 14:15, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

FAC

I agree with you, I believe they want to archive FACs with little to no comments so they can clear the backlog. I was going to comment on your FAC but have been busy with a project I am doing. If you do another FAC with the article please remind me buddy. Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 19:52, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Oh hi!!! Long time no see! I was just reading up on Selena yesterday (I think the article about her murder), gruesome.... :/ Anyway, thanks, I kinda was like "so am I allowed to comment" kinda attitude. MayhemMario 19:55, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Her murder page here? Or an article? Anyways, you might benefit with the article if you add it to the GOCE page. I think you should 'cause usually articles aren't allowed to be nominated right away after it failed. And hiiii lolz Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 20:01, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it was the linked one. I took it to PR, so I can get the problems fixed, then renominate. MayhemMario 20:08, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Poppy Meadow

I may well not be around along enough to be able to help you much, but consider this: "Critics gave a mixed response to Poppy's introduction. It was deemed "bizarre and utterly irrelevant" by Jody Thompson of the Daily Mail ... Her return was viewed more favourably by the tabloid press". In what universe would the Daily Mail not be considered to be tabloid press? Malleus Fatuorum 00:10, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Good Point! Now, you say that im like WTF? But when yoru writing it (or it may have been the co-writer) you dont think of things like that... :/ MayhemMario 20:09, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Content removal

Hey Mario, in future please can you check out sourced content before removing it. The IP that added the return date for Margaret cited to Inside Soap was correct and just needed a ref tidy.Rain the 1 20:57, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I saw that, but I reverted it, intending on contacting June over the matter, as she always has IS, then as soon as i was about to press 'Save' on her talk page, she inserted the info on the lsit. :P MayhemMario 20:58, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Peer review limits changed

This is a notice to all users who currently have at least one open peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review. Because of the large number of peer review requests and relatively low number of reviewers, the backlog of PRs has been at 20 or more almost continually for several months. The backlog is for PR requests which have gone at least four days without comments, and some of these have gone two weeks or longer waiting for a review.

While we have been able to eventually review all PRs that remain on the backlog, something had to change. As a result of the discussion here, the consensus was that all users are now limited to one (1) open peer review request.

If you already have more than one open PR, that is OK in this transition period, but you cannot open any more until all your active PR requests have been closed. If you would like someone to close a PR for you, please ask at Wikipedia talk:Peer review. If you want to help with the backlog, please review an article whoe PR request is listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog/items. Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:18, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Images

I've got an image of Reggie and Holly, i've put requests in for them to be cropped. I don't think the newer image of Holly is much good but it's there anyway. D4nnyw14 (talk) 14:30, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Got another Reggie image. i think the second is better. Wish i was this succesful with Soap actor images. D4nnyw14 (talk) 16:02, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
They're great :) MayhemMario 19:57, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the barnstar, really nice of you! Just wanted to let you know the images have been cropped and are here: [1], [2]. You could crop them closer to the face aswell if you plan on using them. D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:09, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
That's fine, I have to agree with you above, the second Reggie is better, the first kinda looks like Reggie has got a demented neck. But other than that its good, I prefer the newly uploaded one of Holly, I must say. Also, to make you shine in the Wikipedia communtity. The two you linked just above, are from the same Flickr user right? Well here is her photos, [3], so if you asked polietly, you may be able to get a few more! MayhemMario 20:18, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Yep same user, i could ask politely and i think they'd be willing to help but which images are needed? D4nnyw14 (talk) 20:50, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
I'll try and go through them later, i'm wary of bulk asking as it tends to deter people. D4nnyw14 (talk) 21:14, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, of course. :) MayhemMario 18:18, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Here is another of Holly, it's much better than the rest, i've set it as her wiki image. D4nnyw14 (talk) 17:11, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
WOOO! Sorry for the really late reply, this message slipped through, im so happy, Thanks, those two images are great!!!! Im counting on you to be to upload any more images! Thanks, do you want another barnstar? i've already given you one... may look wierd.. ! :P MayhemMario 17:29, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

2 March 2008 vs. 3 March 2008

Mario, I'm very sorry. It shows up as 2 March 2008 for me, but that's because Digital Spy is giving me EST time (7:53 pm) since I'm in America despite the fact that this is a UK-based article, and I hadn't realized that it was "helpfully" changing times like that. Of course you should use GMT on a UK person in a UK soap opera, and that would be 12:53 am on 3 March 2008. Thanks for being persistent. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:18, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Rahul

Hi, you said Rahul was in last night's EastEnders, has he now become a background extra? He certainly didn't have a speaking part and wasn't credited at all. He was only brought in by Yusef, so once Yusef's lie was revealed, surely Rahul wasn't needed? Are you sure it was him? –anemoneprojectors– 16:28, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

I could have sworn it was him, though I swear Rahul has worked there for a long time, and Yusef sacked him? I may have been wrong, but I think it was him. MayhemMario 16:30, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Actaully, I could have been wrong, yeah, I think unless they are credited, they should only be listed. MayhemMario 16:34, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Cool, just wanted to make sure you'd seen what you thought you'd seen :-) –anemoneprojectors– 16:37, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, TBH, EastEnders is so boring me with the Tyler, Anthony lark, that I cannot be really bothered to watch it proparly. MayhemMario 16:38, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Yeah that stuff is boring me too. I find most of the TeenEnders storylines confusing! Who likes who, etc! –anemoneprojectors– 16:42, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Though im loving the Rose/Cora/Dot stuff, just Tyler's scenes make me want to punch him in the face. He's just so boring. :P How's the laptop fund coming on? MayhemMario 16:46, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
What fund? :D Could it have been Ali you saw instead of Rahul? –anemoneprojectors– 15:20, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

File:Dead Man Walking (Body of Proof).jpg listed for deletion

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Dead Man Walking (Body of Proof).jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 18:43, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

List of Body of Proof episodes

Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit here - [8]. Were you thinking of List of Desperate Housewives episodes when you reverted AdamDeanHall? Those type of lists don't contain plot summaries, but the individual season lists (such as Desperate Housewives (season 8)) do, whether there is a separate article for the episode or not. Body of Proof does not have individual season lists yet, so all the episode summaries are included in the List of Body of Proof episodes article. I'm glad to know that there is another BoP fan out there, I love the show. - JuneGloom Talk 19:13, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh.. my mistake. I'm watching BOP on Channel 5, its on tonight! I really do love the show, that's why I made, well I guess you already know, the Dead Man Walking article, is it okay? It's really annoying as for that article I would have prefered an image of Ethan and Curtis in those bio hazard suits, rather than the current one, but I cant get hold of it. Can you? MayhemMario 15:46, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Also, how do you know the production code for the episodes? Thanks, MayhemMario 16:01, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
I think the Dead Man Walking article is pretty good, well done. If you carry on improving it, you could probably take it to GAN for review. I enjoy creating articles for episodes, I did some for the final season of Ugly Betty. Other than taking a screenshot from the episode, I wouldn't know where to go for that image. The production codes are included in the BoP episode list. I don't know if you're planning on creating articles for all the season one episodes, but would you mind if I created an article for the Pilot episode? I need a break from character articles for a while. - JuneGloom Talk 17:00, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks June! Yeah, that would be great! I was rather shying away from the Pilot episode, as it would probably have a lot of reception, production, etc. Would it be okay if I helped? Not do much, just be able to edit it in yoru sandbox, presuming you are starting it in there, :) There's a good reference on Dead Man Walking, number 4. It could be used in the Production part. MayhemMario 17:06, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Also, yes I will be all the epsiodes in season 1 for the minute, maybe not season 2, as I do not know whether is it is showing in the UK any time soon. Also my recent sandbox for Society Hill, is there anyway we could incoporate an image into the infobox? Thanks once again, MayhemMario 19:43, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Sure, we can collaborate on the pilot. I'll start a sandbox soon. I've done the ratings and I'm just gathering sources for the production and critical reception sections. There's already a free image in the SH article, so does it need a non-free image too? I'm not sure what it would be of, maybe the victim? - JuneGloom Talk 20:50, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! With the non free image, I would love there to be one, im just not sure if anything in the article allows it to be there, otherwise it will be deleted per WP:NFCC#8, which is/may be the problem with the DMW image. Also, I found [9] which has loads of reviews, most likely commenting on the pilot. :) MayhemMario 15:58, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
That's great! I'll try and get the sandbox created tomorrow afternoon and we can start gathering sources and info together. - JuneGloom Talk 23:56, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Re:Questions

Hi there! You most certainly can participate in featured article reviews and did you know reviews as a non-admin. Adminship has very little to do with article review processes, and the featured article community is always keen to have new reviewers. I'm afraid you've missed your chance to get involved with the WikiCup this year, but you will be able to take part next year. If you sign up for the WikiCup newsletter (see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send) then you will get monthly updates, which, later in the year, will include details about next year's competition and signups.

The good article review process, as I am sure you realise, is there for when articles have either been passed improperly or when the article has deteriorated over time. I'm afraid I haven't got the time right now to take a look at those articles, but if you feel that they are not up to standards, nominating them like that was probably the right thing to do. An alternative process is available at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment, and if you believe an article may need reviewing, but are not certain, you can add Template:GA request to the talk page, and someone will be along to check it. As regards these particular articles, if you are unsure whether you were right, asking at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles may not be a bad idea. Sorry I can't be more help right now. J Milburn (talk) 18:00, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

No problem- happy to help where I can. Good luck with the article! J Milburn (talk) 18:10, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
There is nothing in the featured article criteria or the good article criteria that sets a minimum length, so the mere fact that an article is short does not automatically mean that it is not ready (for instance, see MissingNo., a very short featured article). However, if the article is very short, it may fail featured article criterion 1b, and it may fail good article criterion 3a. As such, short articles are often given extra scrutiny at FAC. Re:FAC Criteria

No, featured articles should not have citation needed tags, but they, like any other article, develop with time. If you are concerned about it, a note to authors, on the talk page, to the relevant WikiProjects and so on may well be in order. Alternatively, find the person who added the line, search for sources yourself, or simply remove it. Featured articles which do not seem to meet the criteria can be sent to Wikipedia:Featured article review, where people will attempt to improve the article and point out issues. If the issues persist, the review will then progress to Wikipedia:Featured article removal candidates. That process can delist the article, but, obviously, is used as a last resort. Hope this helps! DYK for Gemma McCluskie

The DYK project (nominate) 08:33, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

It's been removed from the main page as people believed it was insensitive to have such a recent murder apparently trivialised in this way. –anemoneprojectors– 15:44, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks AP, yeah I have no choice but to agree with that. Thanks for notificating me, :) MayhemMario 15:54, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:The Voice UK Jessie J Promo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:The Voice UK Jessie J Promo.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 17:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Poppy Meadow (again)

Following Laser Brain's comments at the last FAC I've now been through the article with a fine tooth comb, and he's agreed to look over it again to see if his concerns have been addressed. Depending on his verdict you might like to nominate at FAC again once the mandatory two weeks are up, but before then you ought to check that I haven't excessively butchered the storyline section, as I've never sat through even a single episode of Eastenders, and certainly none of the episodes involving Poppy and Jodie. WikiCup 2012 March newsletter

We are over half way through the second round of this year's WikiCup and things are going well! Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions), of Pool B, is our highest overall scorer thanks to his prolific writings on television and film. In second place is Pool H's Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), thanks primarily to work on biological articles, especially in marine biology and herpetology. Third place goes to Pool E's Scotland Casliber (submissions), who also writes primarily on biology (including ornithology and botany) and has already submitted two featured articles this round. Of the 63 contestants remaining, 15 (just under a quarter) have over 100 points this round. However, 25 are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly. 32 contestants, the top two from each pool and the 16 next-highest scorers, will advance to round 3.

Congratulations to Vanuatu Matthewedwards (submissions), whose impressive File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg became the competition's first featured picture. Also, congratulations to Florida 12george1 (submissions), who claimed good topic points, our first contestant this year to do so, for his work on Wikipedia:Featured topics/1982 Atlantic hurricane season. This leaves featured topics and featured portals as the only sources of points not yet utilised. However, as recent statistics from Wisconsin Miyagawa (submissions) show, no source has yet been utilised this competition to the same extent it has been previously!

It has been observed that the backlogs at good article candidates are building up again. While the points for good article reviews will be remaining constant, any help that can be offered keeping the backlog down would be appreciated. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. WikiCup 2012 April newsletter

Round 2 of this year's WikiCup is over, and so we are down to our final 32, in what could be called our quarter-finals. The two highest scorers from each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers overall, have entered round 3, while 30 participants have been eliminated. Pool B's Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) remains our top scorer with over 700 points; he continues to gain high numbers of points for his good articles on The X-Files, but also Millennium and other subjects. He has also gained points for a good topic, a featured list, multiple good article reviews and several did you knows. Pool E's Scotland Casliber (submissions) was second, thanks primarily to his biology articles, with Pool H's New York City Muboshgu (submissions) coming in third, with an impressive 46 did you knows, mostly on the subject of baseball. Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both scored over 600 points. Pools E and H proved our most successful, with each seeing 5 members qualify for round 3, while Pools C and D were the least, with each seeing only 3 reach round 3. However, it was Pool G which saw the lowest scoring, with a little under 400 points combined; Pool H, the highest scoring group, saw over triple that score.

65 points was the lowest qualifying score for round 3; significantly higher than the 11 required to enter round 2, and also higher than the 41 required to reach round 3 last year. However, in 2010, 100 points were needed to secure a place in round 3. 16 will progress to round 4. In round 3, 150 points was the 16th highest score, though, statistically, people tend to up their game a little in later rounds. Last year, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 points were needed. Guessing how many points will be required is not easy. We still have not seen any featured portals or topics this year, but, on the subject of less common content types, a small correction needs to be made to the previous newsletter: File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg, our first featured picture, was the work of both Vanuatu Matthewedwards (submissions) and United Kingdom Grandiose (submissions), the latter of whom has also gone on to score with File:Map of the Battle of Guam, 1944.svg. Bonus points also continue to roll in; this round, England Ealdgyth (submissions) earned triple points for her good articles on William the Conqueror and the Middle Ages, Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both earned triple points for their work on Western Jackdaw, now a good article, Michigan Dana Boomer (submissions) earned triple points for her work on lettuce and work by Bavaria Stone (submissions) to ready antimony for good article status earned him triple points. United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) managed to expand Vitus Bering far enough for a did you know, which was also worth triple points. All of these highly important topics featured on 50 or more Wikipedias at the start of the year.

An article on the WikiCup in the Wikimedia Blog, "Improving Wikipedia with friendly competition", was posted at the end of April. This may be of interest to those who are signed up to this newsletter, as well as serving as another way to draw attention to our project. Also, we would again like to thank United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) and Bavaria Stone (submissions), for continued help behind the scenes. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck!
