Template:Chicagoland municipality Bartlett is a village located in both Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois. A very small parcel on the western border is in Kane County. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 36,706. A 2002 recount gave the village a population of 37,304. The community now known as the village of Bartlett was named after founder Luther Bartlett who offered land to the railroad.
Geography
Bartlett is located at 41°58'43" North, 88°11'46" West (41.978725, -88.196140)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 38.7 km² (15.0 mi²). 38.4 km² (14.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.94% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 36,706 people, 12,179 households, and 9,986 families residing in the village. The population density is 956.9/km² (2,477.9/mi²). There are 12,356 housing units at an average density of 322.1/km² (834.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 87.23% White, 1.98% African American, 0.14% Native American, 7.82% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.35% from other races, and 1.45% from two or more races. 5.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 12,179 households out of which 48.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.5% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.0% are non-families. 14.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.00 and the average family size is 3.36.
In the village the population is spread out with 31.7% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 37.8% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 5.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
