License tagging for Image:LyddayAirport.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:LyddayAirport.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:07, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Count Ringworm's edits
I see that you just reverted Count Ringworm's addition of the film director stub to the Terry Gilliam article. You got to it before I did. But, if you take a look at his contributions page, you will see that he has added the stub to a great many director articles that are clearly not stubs. Perhaps someone needs to explain to this fellow what a "stub" is. ---Charles 14:33, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:CharlesNetter.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:CharlesNetter.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Knesset speakers template
Hi Derwig. Yes, it looks fine to me. I've added a {{nowrap| }} command to it to prevent Dov Shilanksy and Dalia Itzik breaking across lines on 800x600, but otherwise it's great. Once there's been a few more, it might be a good idea to just use surnames to save space, but at the moment it fills up to the size of the image. Number 57 18:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Brenner Regional Council
Hello, Derwig:
Many thanks for editing the article on the Brenner Regional Council. I appreciate all the help I can get - although my contribution to WP is limited, I do enjoy the time and the challenge, and the sharing of information.
One thing that I do not undertand is why you erased the alternate spelling for Brener - both Yosef Haim Brener and Givat Brener along with the regional council are spelled on signs and books in Eretz Yisrael, as well as on the net with one N as well as with 2Ns - is there a proper way to clarify these spelling variations? If so, please let me know. L'hitraot, SZAgassi 13:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi ZSA. If there is a WikiPolicy regarding alternative transliteration and spelling (there probably is...), I am not familiar with it. I just thought that mentioning such a slight variation is unnecessary, and only the official name should be mentioned. I do not have any strong opinions on the matter, and would not object to adding alt. spelled Brener to the article despite my thoughts. Keep up the good work, Derwig 15:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Kiryat Gat
Hello, Derwig
Your question regarding Kiryat Gat is a good one. Yes, Kiryat Gat was officially founded in 1955, but the original settlement of Gat was built in 1941 (the picture was actually taken in 1946 (will redo right now)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

AfD nomination
Hi Derwig,
Both Magen Lacholeh articles have been rewritten and augmented by ample secondary sources. Could you pls review and withdraw your AfD nomination?
Thanks -- Dandin 05:00, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think so. Almost all of the sources added by you are from local or community sources, not satisfactory secondary sources. Most of them include a passing reference to the organization. To top it all, they are scanned paper clips, hosted on Magen Lachole website, which brings up the question of WP:COI. Looking at the articles as they stand now, I do not think they should be kept. They read like an advertisement, and full of peackok terms. IMO, you have not yet satisfied notability, and the promotional tone is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article.
A copy of my reply will go on the AfD page. Derwig 16:19, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- The primary criterion for notability is if the organization has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources (Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)). The referenced (non-exhaustive) list of sources includes more than enough in-depth (inter)national and reliable press coverage to establish notability. The fact that scans of the paper sources appear on the organization's website does not diminish their credibility or create a bias, rather adds to their verifiability. Even without the scans the references would be valid. If the page's structure or references can be improved, this should be solved through regular editing, rather than deletion, see WP:ATD#ATD. Jumping straight to deletion is not fair to other editors nor constructive for this encyclopedia. — Dandin 18:27, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Note: it's not my org, I sit far away from Israel, just trying to write facts about a well known organization that has helped many people I know. — Dandin 20:38, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Looks better now, with the rewording (now that the abyss is gone...) -- Derwig 20:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Ronen Bergman
Yes, I see what you mean - the article is quite "promotional", but he is just about notable. I would suggest there are two approaches (a) reduce it to a stub along the lines of "RB is an Israeli investigative journalist and author" and list his books, or to do a rewrite from the start, keeping all the info, but less like an advert for him. пﮟოьεԻ 57 20:42, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
As I'm sure you've seem, I've just created this article. Quite aside from 18 years + in one ministry portfolio (I would imagine few have matched that in truly democratic countries), I was thinking the fact that he is the only signatory of the declaration of independence to have been born in the country would be a nice WP:DYK factoid, but other than the Hebrew wiki, I can't find any sources for this (not being a native Hebrew speaker, it would take me a long time to trawl through hits on google.co.il). I don't suppose you might like to look into it? пﮟოьεԻ 57 11:39, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

- Here is one saying the only signatory born in the country Iton Tel Aviv. I will try and find some more. Derwig 11:51, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent work - I'll put it in, and perhaps we can nominate it tomorrow based on any other findings. пﮟოьεԻ 57 13:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've added a couple more things (e.g. Minister of Minority Affairs) - due you think it's ok for nomination now? пﮟოьεԻ 57 12:03, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- I couldn't find more sources for the possible factoids. With your additions the text is now well-referenced, and should be ok for a DYK. Derwig 12:09, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I've nominated it. пﮟოьεԻ 57 12:17, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, he was not born in Israel. Perhaps you should reword, maybe Land of Israel? Derwig 12:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Although I knew it was a bit awkward to link to Israel, I couldn't think of a better solution at the time, but yours seems good, so I'll change it. пﮟოьεԻ 57 12:37, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

- And thanks very much for mine :) Now I intend to flesh out the article on the declaration itself with bits about how not all were present, how Warhaftig signed in the wrong place, the Rosenblum/Vardi issue and the other "additions" that a few made.
- Aside from this, I am slightly confused by pre-state institutions. What is the relationship between the Assembly of Representatives and Moetzet HaAm? This does not explain on what basis the members of Moetzet HaAm were chosen (given that the AoR had 171 members after the 1944 elections, and Moetzet HaAm only had 37). Could you explain it to me? Bnaya/Benaya
Hi Derwig. I saw that you changed the spelling in the template/article. I've created the article, but at Bnaya based on the nikud spelling - בְּנַיָה. I'll ask Ynhockey for his input here too. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 09:34, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think Benaya is better. The Bet is the first letter of the word, that makes the shva a shva na which is transliterated as e (see Wikipedia:HE#Vowels and shva). Derwig (talk) 12:17, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I can see where you're coming from, but what does that do to (say) Bnei Yehuda? I await Ynhockey's input with interest! пﮟოьεԻ 57 16:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- There's no justification to use the e sound per WP:HE, which says that it has to be pronounced in Hebrew (and the shva in Bnaya clear is not). Are there any more reasons for wishing to include the e? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 16:53, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- correct pronunciation is Benei Yehuda (and you can here some TV announcers use this form), but Bnei is the common name and should be used. In the case of Be/Bnaya, I am not sure what is the common name ,but grammatically Benaya is the correct form, and I completely disagree with Ynhockey on that matter. I do not think this article should be a subject of major controversy, I think Benaya is bettr, but will agree to any of the spelling options as long as redirect is kept from the unchosen one. -- Derwig (talk) 17:54, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm. I saw it was Ge'alya on the Hebrew wiki. However, I did a quick google for it and got 1,350. However, Moshav+Galia gets 19,000,[1] including hits like Haaretz, Ynetnews and the Jerusalem Post, which suggests it is the common English spelling. пﮟოьεԻ 57 09:51, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough - I've moved it. пﮟოьεԻ 57 14:10, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Settlement Elef
Thanks for the heads up. Do you think the article should be called Hityashvut HaElef, Hityashvut HaElef plan, Settlement of the Thousand, or Settlement of the Thousand plan? I am leaning towards one of the latter two per WP:ENGLISH. The Hebrew wiki doesn't have an article, which is a shame as there is virtually nothing on the net in English about it. пﮟოьεԻ 57 21:31, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- After sleeping on it, I'm inclined to go with Settlement of the Thousand - I may start the article later today. Let me know if you agree/disagree. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 09:01, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Yizre'el
I've moved HaMa'apil (Can't believe I didn't spot that), but Yizre'el seems more complex - on the English version of their site they only refer to themselves as Yizre'el - see here as an example. I had assumed it was a long "e" sound as well (as in Jezreel Valley) and that the "Yizra'el" spelling means it rhymes with Israel. Thoughts? пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:21, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Ra'hel/Rachel Bluwstein
Thanks. I don't know how to do a redirect. Could you please help me with that? Das Baz, aka Erudil 16:20, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
