:I've done a second pass CE on the article. I added a note on LeSueur's Stanley Cup challenges in 1906 that necessitated breaking one long paragraph into two. The first half is now completely unsourced, but I a don't know where you got the info from, as the next reference (Ottawa Citizen obit) made no mention. I've also been looking around [https://www.google.com/search?q=Percy+LeSueur&hl=en&gl=ca&authuser=0&tbm=nws&source=lnt&tbs=ar:1&sa=X&ei=C0jMTpzvKITjiAKs4KyFDA&ved=0CBQQpwUoCg&biw=1366&bih=642&cad=cbv&sei=GEjMTub2KMSSiAKgr5HzCw Google News Archive], and I see several stories that could help expand places. In particular, it is confusing as to why Ottawa would trade their captain and coach. Turns out [http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=S75jAAAAIBAJ&sjid=qXoNAAAAIBAJ&pg=1564,4282757&dq=percy+lesueur&hl=en he told the team he was leaving]. Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors

Hi! I noticed your activity reviewing Featured Article Candidates, and wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.

If you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 01:02, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My tactic was to look for people making productive review comments at FAC. Most people who don't fit the criteria will self-select out and not apply. Sorry for the bother, though! Happy editing.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 02:03, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion request

Can you reverse your deletion of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Larry_Craig_mugshot.jpg ? It's not PD (See http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Template:PD-MNGov_(2nd_nomination) but I think we can keep it here as fair use. If you could update the tags, that would be great. This is the tag to use: {{Non-free mugshot}} .

Or could you help with the larger problem with all the files tagged PD-MNGov or suggest where to ask for such help? The undelete part can only be done by an admin.--Elvey (talk) 18:38, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Changing height or weight tag

Hi. Just to say that I like the idea of MediaWiki:Tag-changing height or weight, which I see you created. I just noticed it at on my watchlist regarding Rafael van der Vaart and it seems a helpful addition because people are always messing with the height statistics for footballers without changing the source given. Please help

Please move the page Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens Song) that you protected to Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens song); and then edit the page "Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens song)" to redirect to "Say OK". Thank you! Silvergoat (talkcontrib) 18:40, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The page "Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens song)" is simply a redirect WHILE "Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens Song)" is previously created article, but it has incorrect naming (Cap "S" in song). So I think "Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens Song)" should be moved to "Say OK (Vanessa Hudgens song)"; but both will serve as redirect to "Say OK". I hope you'll get my point, my English was really bad. :) Silvergoat (talkcontrib) 12:33, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on the playing style section! You got any more gems in that book to add, or you done? Will probably look at closing the PR soon if not and taking the article to GA. Harrias talk 20:57, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. As I said on the article talk page, I'm a bit wary over taking too much from the career section, but that is partly because I can not completely envisage what you are suggesting, so it's difficult to know how it'd end up! I'll put the article up for GA, which will probably take a fair while, and then probably come back and work with you for taking the article towards FA if that sounds okay? Warning to stop moving articles

You have been actively renaming biographical articles to use diacritics in the spelling. Such moves are contrary to the policy of WP:COMMONNAME and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). Please be advised that such use of diacritics is controversial, and you should immediately stop renaming and moving articles until you have a fully discussed this issue with the Wikipedia community. The use of diacritics must only be used when it is required, as the article's title should correspond to the most frequently used form as used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. Main page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on May 24, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 24, 2011. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Your RfB

Thank you for being bold and putting yourself forward! I seem to recall when you ran last time, you took the initiative to run back then when everyone else was just talking about running! It's a surprise to see your candidacy, but it's nice it's there. Best. Acalamari 09:27, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfB

FYI, my decision to oppose was more complicated than you might realize (including some aspects I won't share but are unrelated to Wikipedia). I support the notion that the bar for 'crat has been set too high, (although I haven't contributed to the discussion.) I've seen some highly qualified candidates fail in the past, so rightly or wrongly, I approached your request hoping to support. I accept that your recent low activity is related to personal reasons that may be none of our business and you are in the best position to judge whether you are able to make the commitment going forward. That said, it is not your decision, and we, as part of the community, must make the assessment, based upon incomplete knowledge of all the facts. After reviewing my reasons for opposition, I've decided that they aren't really reasons to oppose, but a reason that prevents me from supporting. Thus, I will change my !vote to Neutral. BTW, while not much of a hockey fan, I did review some of your contributions, and want to thank-you for the enormous work you've done. Helping to preserve the history in an accessible way such as you have done in Tiny Thompson, is exactly what this project is about.--SPhilbrickT 15:11, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I really appreciate that you've taken time to look again over my candidacy, and that you've decided to reconsider your opposition. Thanks also for looking over the articles that I've written, even though some of the subjects (like Thompson) are somewhat obscure. Maxim(talk) 16:19, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Belated 'crat gratz

Well, Maxim, as you have seen from the previous umpteen sections, you are to be congratulated on having English Wikipedians demonstrate a consensus that you are to be afforded the bureaucrat maintenance toolkit. Of course, bureaucrats cannot rush to congratulate, as we have to do all the messy paperwork and bit flipping, which is why I am late . Now, methinks there is work to be done at WP:CHUU, which is the third door on the left, after the water fountain. Good luck, and thank you for volunteering to further help the English Wikipedia project as a bureaucrat. -- Avi (talk) 05:49, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help on this page. I'm curious about something, you added a footnote to Yutaka Fukufuji talking about Taro Tsjuimoto. Since the list is first player to play in the NHL from each country, I'm not sure that is necessary. I'm thinking for some of the countries, there are players who were drafted from those nations long before anyone played in the NHL. Should we footnote all of those players? One of two things are a thought I've had, a) we add a column that shows first players drafted from each country unless their first player predates the NHL Draft or b) not worry about players drafted who never played in the NHL. Posting congratulations to Hersfold on passing RfB prompted me to realise I never did the same to you. Sorry. So here goes: Welcome to the team! request on usurping an unused account for unified login

Hi Maxim,

I recently rejoined wikipedia on the German website after having forgotten/lost my old account name/password. So I created a new account on de.wikipedia.org and also wanted to use a unified login. Unfortunately I did not check on the availability of my identity: "Merci-bien" first... Apparently, someone else has the rights for this one on the English speaking wiki.

But I looked up the the stats for this account and it seems like it has never been used for editing since its creation in 2007. So I'd like to usurp it if possible. Could you help me out with this?

Thanks a lot, --81.66.150.157 (talk) 22:59, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ks0stm's RfA

I see that you closed Ks0stm's RfA. I am not disputing your closure decision. (I !voted neutral.) However there was a significant minority opposing. It would have been helpful if you gave a brief statement evaluating the significance of the opposition, particularly why you think that the opposition's concerns are unlikely to prevent Ks0stm from being a good admin. Axl ¤ [Talk] 00:13, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, your talk page header indicates that you are on a long wikibreak. Perhaps you should remove it? Axl ¤ [Talk] 00:29, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At 78%, there should be a very, very good reason to conclude that an RfA discussion did not reach consensus to promote; I didn't leave a statement because I saw the result as fairly obvious. The opposition concerns were chiefly about question 3, and a bit about the article writing. One incident in general has to be particularly severe to be grounds to prevent promotion to admin, and the commentary in the RfA—both in numbers and reasoning—did not suggest that it was very problematic. With regards to the article writing concern, not many users shared that view, and thus overall I found a consensus to promote. Hope this helps, Maxim(talk) 00:47, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Account usurpation

I am a user of the Italian Wikipedia since 2006, and I just created a global account. However, during the merging phase, I noticed that on the English wiki another account with the same username (NotANumber) exists. Since the account seems to be inactive (the last of his 5 edits dates back to April 2008) I would like to "usurp" the username and merge it to my own global account. This would allow me to contribute more easily to the English language Wikipedia. Is this possible? Thank you! :) --78.29.238.227 (talk) 07:19, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be touch and go for this FAC. I would say a copy-edit is possible, and that is always something I am willing to help on if necessary, although I cannot always guarantee when! But to be honest, to make it a rock-solid FA I think it could do with a few people working on the prose, for example in PR. On the other hand, the issues are not so bad that they could not be worked on and my oppose is not set in stone. But I think my advice would be to withdraw for now. If you do and want a copy-editor at some point in the near future, please let me know. --Sarastro1 (talk) 22:20, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Basically it was changed from debastein1 (talk · contribs) to debastein (talk · contribs) minus the 1. Firstly, thank you, but I do have one simple query. Does this change apply only for Wikipedia or is it valid for my Global account? If its not valid for my Global account, do I have to go to every Wiki and ask for a rename?? Am a bit uncertain about the procedure, could you help?? If you decide to reply here, can you leave a talkback template in my talk page?? I am putting this page in my watchlist, but since this is an important issue to me, I don't want to miss it. --Debastein (talk) 07:20, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also , if you look at my talk page. It is just a redirect to User talk:debastein1. Hence my question can my old talk page not be moved to my new page, i.e. user talk:debastein minus the 1?? Hoping to hear from you soon. --Debastein (talk) 06:52, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems, that since my talk page is just a redirect to user talk:debastein1 and since I am logging in via user:debastein, minus the 1, I am not being alerted to new messages on debastein1's talk page. Its pretty frustrating. If you could just have a quick look at it and do the needful, I would be terribly obliged and extremely grateful. Debastein (talk) 06:58, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • This should be sorted now. (Maxim: In future be sure to check off 'do not create redirects from old page' to vacate the userspace during a username swap/usurp request) –xenotalk 14:14, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a user who changed their name

Hi Maxim. I noticed that User:Undiskedste began editing an article recently and I took a look at who they were. I realized that you had renamed that user. I then saw that Undiskedste blanked their previous User:Divergentgrad page of the redirect you created. I wasn't sure if this is normal or per policy or anything, and we know how sometimes WP policy isn't the easiest to figure out. :) (i.e. I figure transparency is required when you change your user name in those regards, and this user has been active on a fairly contentious article (men's rights, and with the onslaught we've had of meatpuppets and sockpuppets in regards to the article, I'm a bit on high alert right now!) Thanks for you input and thanks for the work you do on Wikipedia. SarahStierch (talk) 22:32, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about rejected username change

Hi Maxim, I’m not sure, whether this is the right way to address you…but I placed a request at the Changing Username page and it was refused. I work at Deutsche Post DHL and want to support Wikipedia as I believe it’s worth it. I wanted to be as transparent as possible and first now realized that my username doesn’t comply fully with the respective policy. As the German Wikipedia doesn’t seem to be that strict, I simply wasn’t aware of it. The newly chosen name should comply with the Username Policy – I only decided to be as transparent as possible when keeping the company name in my username. Could you explain to me why it has been rejected? I’ll be happy to explain to you! --Deutsche Post DHL (talk) 13:29, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The name seemed promotional at first glance, so per Avi's advice I had declined. On second glance with your and Xeno's input, it's alright, so I've granted the rename. Maxim(talk) 04:09, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Usurping usernames

Hello! I see that you have helped others usurp user names in the past. The usurp requests backlog has fallen a bit behind, so could you clean it up a little bit. Thank you and happy editing! :) pluma Ø 05:42, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Percy LeSueur again

Thanks for letting me know. Let me know when it gets to PR or FAC and I'll be happy to look again if you want. --Sarastro1 (talk) 13:23, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've done a second pass CE on the article. I added a note on LeSueur's Stanley Cup challenges in 1906 that necessitated breaking one long paragraph into two. The first half is now completely unsourced, but I a don't know where you got the info from, as the next reference (Ottawa Citizen obit) made no mention. I've also been looking around Google News Archive, and I see several stories that could help expand places. In particular, it is confusing as to why Ottawa would trade their captain and coach. Turns out he told the team he was leaving. Also, the PCHA tried to recruit him. Hope that helps! Resolute 01:24, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you...

...for changing my username. Macedonian (talk) 13:48, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Maxim(talk) 23:17, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom election 2011

Thanks for nominating yourself and welcome to this year's election. Welcoming you is one of tasks I've volunteered to do. I feel that it would be helpful if your statement were to include a link to the Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2011/Candidates/Guide page, so voters can easily navigate to that page and view your alts. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 00:49, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
