:Hi! I think your best bet is to engage other editors on the article's talk page and try to build consensus for changes. You can start a new section on the talk page to discuss the gas import terminal material, or to discuss the article and how to improve it more generally. Please keep Wikipedia policies in mind, including WP:AGF, WP:CIVIL, and WP:RS. --Tkynerd (talk) 12:47, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Welcome—ask questions about how to use or edit Wikipedia! (Am I in the right place?)
• For other types of questions, use the search box, see the reference desk or Help:Contents. If you have comments about a specific article, use that article's talk page.
• Do not provide your email address or any other contact information. Answers will be provided on this page only.
• If your question is about a Wikipedia article, draft article, or other page on Wikipedia, tell us what it is!
• Check back on this page to see if your question has been answered.
• For real-time help, use our IRC help channel, #wikipedia-en-help.
• New editors may prefer the Teahouse, a help area for beginners (but please don't ask in both places).

How long does it take to approve a new page?

Hi there, I just created a new page for Asian Universities Alliance, I'm wondering how long will it take and when will I know that it has been approved? Thanks!! Polo9591 (talk) 05:52, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you're talking about. You created the article in mainspace, not a WP:DRAFT that needs to be approved. Now whether someone will come along and nominate it for deletion is another story. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:36, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The page is awaiting review. There are nearly 5,500 pages in the same situation as of today. Approximately 1700 pages have been reviewed this week but there is not really a set order. A reviewer can propose deletion if they think it is necessary or request improvements. After 90 days, if the page has not been reviewed it should be automatically be indexed by search engines. Language boxes/userpage boxes

Hello. I was wondering how exactly to add a userpage language box? Thanks, MayodKOR (talk) 06:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MayodKOR See Wikipedia:Babel. Decide what level of a language you have e.g beginner, advanced then copy and paste the userbox for the correct language and level and paste it on your user page. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 08:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Helpdesk Can
Hello everyone, I am looking for some advice on how to behave on the Wikipedia, because I certainly do not understand the following:
May I call a user that trolls me on my own talk page a troll? I have asked time and time again to please stop bothering me and stop vandalising my talk page.
--2019OutlaweD (talk) 08:13, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, 2019OutlaweD. For general behaviour in Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Civility. In regards to a case where someone is vandalising or trolling you, do not Bite them - that is what they’re looking for. Ignore them to the best of your ability and they will soon lose interest. If they persist for too long, then it is probably best to take it to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and report them there. You might want to warn them on their own talk page through a Twinkle message. I hope that helps, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 08:26, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Could you direct me to the user in question? Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 08:31, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Het Willbb, thanks for your response. To be honest the situation is on the Dutch Wikipedia, but since I now have a block, I can't ask for what I should or should not do. The reality is, that I did exactly what you are telling me not to do: Bite! I went to the users talk page and asked, time and time again, to be left alone. A moderator saw asking to be left alone as a problem, which boggles my mind, to be honest. Because if asking to be left alone repeatedly is an issue, then bothering that person for at least as many times (more, actually), is as well. But the mod disagrees. So, I will not ask you to get involved there. It would not be proper behaviour, I think. But thank you for your willingness to take a look. It restores my faith in the Wikipedia a bit :)
I am thinking to make, not a thrascan, but a Trollcan on my talkpage and dump stuff in there that I don't want to know about. Do you think that people will be offended if I name maybe a link, or a folded section that way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2019OutlaweD (talkcontribs) 08:43, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi 2019OutlaweD. I’m sorry, but I’m not too sure what you’re saying. Your English is really good, especially as a second language (I presume) but I can’t quite understand what you’re asking me? Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 11:09, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
2019OutlaweD, we can't really help you with things that happen on the Dutch Wikipedia, since we're completely seperate communities. If the trolling continues here, you can just delete the messages off your talk page (some other Wikipedia communities don't allow that). Just remember to not feed the trolls. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:30, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the not to feed the trolls part and not to bite part now. Thanks. I was asking how to handle the situation. My idea is to make a spot, maybe a second user page, like an archive, or a spot that I can fold up and that can be opened by clicking on it. I would deposit things I do not like there, was my thought. I was thinking to jokingly call it Trollcan, instead of thrashcan. That is all.
The original question was: "Is it seen as offensive to call a person a troll when that person is, in fact, trolling"?
Because I am getting the impression that this is the cause for the block.
@Willbb234: Thanks for the compliment, by the way. It is my second language. My father was an English teacher. I often give him the compliments that people give me. He worked hard for it!
--2019OutlaweD (talk) 11:58, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn’t say it is ‘offensive’ as such to call someone a troll, but just not courteous and not a way we communicate here on Wikipedia. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 12:03, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "fold up", but perhaps you are thinking of the functionality described here: Template:Hidden archive top, which allows you to collapse a section of text (there are other, similar functions, such Template:Collapse top). However, if someone is being rude on your talk page, you can simply delete the comment if you wish. Matt Deres (talk) 15:29, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And Thanks everyone!

Changing a title

Hello,

can someone please help?

I have managed to update the text (which is also in English now) and external reference, but cannot edit the title.

The name of the organisation has changed.

It is now called: CESSDA ERIC (Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives)

https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_European_Social_Science_Data_Archives?veaction=edit

I look forward to hearing how I can update this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArtemisElephant9 (talkcontribs) 11:05, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArtemisElephant9, the Norwegian Wikipedia is written in Norwegian so I've reverted your edit there (it was also written as an advertisement). If you want to change a name in the Norwegian Wikipedia, go to no:Wikipedia:Flytteforslag. This help desk is for the English Wikipedia. If you want to add an English article, you can use the WP:Article Wizard. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:12, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

version of the article

Good afternoon! How do I know which version of the article is being checked? Thank you for your answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.249.83.82 (talk) 11:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify what you are asking. Which article are you referencing, and what do you mean by "version"? If you type in an article title to search for, you will arrive at the current version. 331dot (talk) 11:22, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

UPD! The situation is as follows: The article has not been published yet, but we have corrected the notes in the draft. More than 40 days have passed - but there is no answer. How do I know that the latest version of the edits has been sent to you for your consideration? We are worried that there is no way to know its status. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.249.83.82 (talk) 12:13, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The current backlog is high, up to 4 months. You are free to change things on your draft. The version that will be reviewed is always the latest one, but the complete page including the previous versions will get moved to mainspace if your draft is approved. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 12:18, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you want us to check that the draft has actually been submitted for review, you need to give us a wikilink to the draft. The contribution record for your IP address show no edits other than this question here. - David Biddulph (talk) 13:07, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It has not been resubmitted for further review. Because the last submission was rejected rather than merely declined you don't have a resubmit button. There is a button with which to ask for advice, but I notice that you have not provided any further independent reliable sources to demonstrate compliance with WP:NCORP since the last review. - David Biddulph (talk) 14:28, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can I display a trimmed Wikimedia image

I am tempted to use https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gopnikslav.jpg to go into Squatting_position#Slav_squat,_rap_squat,_prison_pose_and_jail_pose. But the bottom 35% is taken up by the irrelevant tiled floor which also makes the image longer than necessary. Is it possible to display a trimmed image using display parameters or otherwise ? --Penbat (talk) 12:58, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Penbat. I'm not sure I'm "cool enough" to know what this is supposed to be depicting, but I've cropped it to a fairly standard 3:4. See File:Gopnikslav (cropped).jpg. GMGtalk 13:10, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Gopnik is a style of anti social attitude and decadence featuring squatting. This isnt the perfect image but the best of a not too good bunch on Wikimedia. This https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gopnik#/media/File:%D0%92%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD_%D0%9F%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BA.jpg is better but unfortunately depicts sitting instead of the more usual squatting. --Penbat (talk) 13:24, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We also have CSS image crop but if the full image does not add value then uploading a cropped image is generally preferred. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:42, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ehh...No offense PrimeHunter, but c:COM:CROPTOOL is vastly less complicated, and I honestly can't think of any situation where I would recommend someone use CSS image crop instead. GMGtalk 13:49, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Users may not want to learn a script for a single cropping, or upload a new image, and some users cannot run scripts. For an example where the full image does add value but isn't worth displaying in a specific article, clicking the cropped infobox image in Heather Fargo leads to File:Diane Feinstein and Heather Fargo.jpg. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:01, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's not really much learning to be done. You just drag a box around the crop you want. I just don't see any situation where the tedium of trying to manually guess at specific pixel values is worth being able to pipe an image link. GMGtalk 17:22, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The technical difference is that CSS image crop causes the reader's browser to crop the image after it is sent to the reader. c:COM:CROPTOOL and other methods result in a new smaller image on commons that is sent to the reader's browser. If we ask the browser to do the cropping, we must use extra bandwidth to send the larger image every time a user reads the article. In the modern world this is not a big deal for most users, but anyone with a low bandwidth connection will suffer. -Arch dude (talk) 16:58, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How can I get a copy of a deleted article for improvement?

I was warned that I was writing an autobiography, but I am not writing about myself

I am writing and editing an article about my boss and Wikipedia thinks he's the one writing it. How do I prove that I am not the subject of the article? Jessesmithart (talk) 16:01, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jessesmithart People think you are writing about yourself because your username is that of the person you are writing about. Since you are not Jesse Smith, you will need to change your username; please visit Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS as soon as possible to make a request. After you are renamed, you will need to review and comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies(the latter is a Terms of Use requirement and not optional), since you state you are editing about your boss. 331dot (talk) 16:04, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jessesmithart: Your draft seems rather Promotional which isn’t allowed on Wikipedia. This will have to be changed if your draft is to be accepted. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 16:36, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Getting my page recognized

Ladies & Gentlemen:

I have a Wikipedia page under the name: Dennis E. Flanery or DennisFlannery, not sure which is correct. The page presents my biography and I would like it to pop up when people search for Dennis Flannery or for Dennis E. Flannery. It doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dennis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dennisflannery (talkcontribs) 17:46, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"User:Dennisflannery" is just your user page, it's not a Wikipedia article. To create an article, you'll have to use the WP:Article Wizard. Writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged though. – Thjarkur (talk) 18:09, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dennisflannery: Your user page is for you to tell other editors a small amount about yourself and how you intend to contribute to Wikipedia. It is not for you to create a biography or profile as you might on social media such as facebook etc. Please do not create an autobiography; if you are truly notable in the Wikipedia sense an independent, unconnected editor will likely create a Wikipedia page in due course. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 18:19, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Dennisflannery: You created a practice page at Wikipedia:Tutorial/Editing/sandbox. That is not a Wikipedia article, nor is it your user page. It is a throw-away page you created while taking the tutorial. If you decide to stay around and help us build the encyclopedia, then feel free to create your user page to tell us about yourself as it relates to how you intend to help. If you intended only to add a bio, then you are in the wrong place, no hard feelings, and we hope you find a good place for it on the Internet, such as a blog site. -Arch dude (talk) 19:07, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(The user had written a more recent article at their user page, but it has now been U5'd.) Dennis, you can of course introduce yourself shortly on your user page, but currently all user pages are hidden from search engines. – Thjarkur (talk) 19:15, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Arch dude: As you came late to this discussion you missed the creation and subsequent deletion of User:Dennisflannery. It was tagged for deletion at 18:08 (UTC). (& David B got there before me!) Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 19:20, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Serote(s) is listed as a demonym for inhabitants of the country El Salvador. “Serote” is literally translate as “shit” or “piece of shit” which totally inappropriate and in bad taste for the lovely people that we are. Someone maliciously may have edited the Wikipedia official page for El Salvador to cause embarrassment and even harm Kindly edit the demonym in question. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

How can I permanently DISABLE MOBILE VIEW?

Is there, or can there be made to be, some way to permanently disable the mobile view? I hate having the mobile version come up when I google something and don't notice that the link I clicked is to the mobile version. There should be a preference to permanently disable the mobile view/version, and the link at the bottom of wiki articles, DeskView, should instead be DISABLE MOBILE VIEW, and be permanent, and should be at the TOP of a wiki article screen, not at the bottom. UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 06:56, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there UnderEducatedGeezer. I don’t think there is a way to permanently disable mobile view, and I share your frustration. Over time, I have viewed my desktop watchlist enough so that I have a link directly to my watchlist in desktop on Safari. If you want to change the location of the mobile -> desktop button, then it is best to suggest the change at the Village Pump. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 08:04, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Willbb234: Thanks, I may do that, glad to know someone else is similarly frustrated! (I used your suggestion of the ping template, but I notice you used a different format in your response to me, "u|User Name", is that another form of ping? It reads better than the template form, I think, and it notified me of your response just as well as ping.) . UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 11:59, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey UnderEducatedGeezer. Any new comment that includes a link to another user's name and a signature should issue a ping. (Though this system is persistently buggy and may fail for various known or unknown reasons.) GMGtalk 12:02, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The ping template and u template are similar but different. See reply to and user link Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 12:04, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@UnderEducatedGeezer: When I am speaking to someone for the first time, I generally use the u|... notification system as its a little more friendly. After the conversation has begun, I generally use the ping|... system for brevity and ease. Both work well though. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please ping me in replies) 12:19, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@UnderEducatedGeezer, add this to your common.js file: importScript('User:Þjarkur/NeverUseMobileVersion.js');. – Thjarkur (talk) 12:24, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Thjarkur, that sounds very interesting, but I don't know how to do that. I don't (yet?) have a common.js page, and I don't see the code, nor know how to use it. Any help would be appreciated! (I do sadly have to get some sleep right now, though.) UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 12:47, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just click here and add the text importScript('User:Þjarkur/NeverUseMobileVersion.js'); to the page, the rest is automatic. – Thjarkur (talk) 12:53, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Florence Biennae English Page

I worked for many hours yesterday to edit the Florence Biennale page in English. I included reference material and updated in formation well and in good faith. That work has been completely deleted saving nothing of it a putting back the page in an awful state. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Art-Culture-Languages (talkcontribs) 11:01, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Art-Culture-Languages, you may wish to ask the editor that removed your changes directly, Freshacconci. 331dot (talk) 11:04, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Art-Culture-Languages: The edit summary left by Freshacconci was "Far too many problems with these changes to let stand". Maintenance templates were removed without explanation (the edit summary was only completed once in half-a-dozen or more edits) it seems some sourced material was removed and replaced possibly without proper sourcing and external links were included in the content. These were not the only issues. The advice given above to discuss it directly with the reverting editor is the correct way to proceed. (Preferably at the article talk page but their or your talk page is also an acceptable venue). Some links will be left at your talk page which will hopefully assist you in the future. Adding an image to Wikipedia

How do go about adding an image to an article?

I saw an explanation here, but I think I should also take into account ownership of the image, right? How do I figure that out? --2019OutlaweD (talk) 14:57, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@2019OutlaweD:, who owns, or originally took, the photo? This will determine the process, and whether it can be uploaded at all. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:24, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, If the image is already uploaded here, or to commons, the license will be in the file description. If an image is there under fair use, it can only be used on the article specified, but any other license you can place it onto an article - follow Help:Pictures. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 15:26, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@2019OutlaweD:If you take a photo, you own the copyright and you can license it to us. If you have unquestioned ownership of the copyright (e.g., you are the sole heir of the photographer) the same. If you found an image on the Internet, then someone else owns the copyright and you can only use it if the owner licences it for use under a compatible free-use license. The owner may have done that: look for the copyright terms on the web site where you found the image. There are a few exceptions including first published before 1924, or US Federal government photo. Alternatively, you may look at the highly restrictive "free-use" justifications. If the image is on the Internet and you are in doubt, post a link here and we can look at it for you. -Arch dude (talk) 15:42, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I do not own the picture. It is for the newest peaceful demonstration in Hong Kong. A human chain 50 miles (or more) long. I think this picture is particularly nice. --2019OutlaweD (talk) 15:57, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@2019OutlaweD: I personally dislike the current copyright law immensely, and I agree with your sentiments. However, we must follow the law. The copyright for those pictures is owned by the BBC (or perhaps by a "stringer") and by law, in the absence of an explicit license, we cannot use them. failure to be rigorous about this would put Wikipedia as a whole at risk of attack by entities that might seek to shut us down. Your best bet would be to get pictures taken by individuals in Hong Kong and get them to put them up or otherwise provide copyright release of some type. -Arch dude (talk) 16:43, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I was thinking that. But who would have pictures like that and would be willing to share? If a face is recognised, a politically motived arrest might not be far off. It saddens me to say it, but this is the state of affairs in Hong Kong. Not too long ago someone was arrested for carrying laser pens...without batteries... the authorities claimed that it was a fully functional ray gun, capable of setting people on fire (arrested for carrying a concealed weapon). He is, just coincidentally, a student organisation leader from the university and as such suspected of being a "leader" in the demonstrations. However, there are no leaders in the demonstrations. They are completely decentralised. Politically motivated arrests.. :(
Anyway, I could ask around. I do know a lot of people from Hong Kong.
--2019OutlaweD (talk) 17:00, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There are lots of photos of the Hong Kong protests that have been released under an appropriate license and uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: see commons:Category:Demonstrations against extradition bill in Hong Kong, 2019, where they're divided up chronologically into subcategories. The most recent of these has the subcategory commons:Category:Hong Kong Way, which contains photos of the human chain. Some of these are already used in the Hong Kong Way article. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 19:12, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, how do I add his page to his name of Fenerbahçe Basketball roster? Thank you Wiki Facts fixer (talk) 14:55, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you be more precise about what you were trying to do? Was that the only content of the error message? What sources were you trying to add? If you have not done so please read WP:REFB to see if you were adding correctly.
Please don't ask the same question in multiple locations. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 15:17, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
basically I had sources for his Turkish citizenship from Eurohoops and Trendbasket however each time I tried to add them after “citizenship” on his page it kept saying “error edit not saved” this is the exact same way I have sourced in the past and it’s always worked, (the sources for this page were even showing accurately at the bottom of the page on the preview but it wouldn’t let me save it and I got the error message) Wiki Facts fixer (talk) 15:51, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

George Washington and his mother Mary Ball

Its been proven in the past few years that George Washington, the United States of America's very First President is genetically 50% of Albanian descent. His mother was born as Marija Bala(Balaj) in Virgina, USA in 1708. Her parents originated from Pec which is now known as Peja, Kosovo. The autonomy agreement that President Nixon made with Tito of the Former Yugoslavia was the result of this knowledge because George Washington left a letter trust asking that Albanians around the world be protected. These facts should be included in the history of George Washington and his mother who changed her name to Mary Ball. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lissabetaa (talkcontribs) 15:03, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with 331dot. The article currently states "The farinograph is a variation of the Brabender Plastograph", without a reference. It does eslewhere cite this reference which claims the farinograph was developed in 1928, and the plastograph in 1936. Removing an unreferenced and apparently false statement does not itself require a reference. I have removed it. Maproom (talk) 20:03, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@RudolfRed: The citation error is due to editors adding <ref name=> in the Reflist of the Reference section. As long as the <ref name=> is not used in the main article, the system will flag citation error. Fiipchip (talk) 06:05, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want make Wikipedia page for my son who is 13 year old boy and Indian child actor like other actors information comes on page by searching only name pls reply — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uzair basar (talkcontribs) 10:35, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Uzair basar You have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest in writing about your son, and it is strongly advised that you not attempt to do so. Not all actors merit an article here, they would need to meet the criteria written at WP:NACTOR, as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources. If you truly feel that your son meets this criteria, you should post a request at Requested Articles(though there is a severe backlog there so it will not be done quickly) but your best bet is to simply allow independent editors to take note of your son's career and write about them. Also please understand that a Wikipedia article is not necessarily desirable; there are good reasons to not want one(especially for a minor). Wikipedia has no interest in aiding search results. 331dot (talk) 10:54, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

G C Dey Successfully writing a new Wikipedia article is probably the hardest task on Wikipedia. It takes much time and practice. It's best to get some experience editing existing articles under your belt first, to get a feel for how Wikipedia works and what is expected of article content. However, if you still want to attempt to write an article, you should read Your First Article and then create and submit a draft at Articles for Creation where you can get feedback on it before it is formally placed in the encyclopedia(instead of afterwards when users will be more critical). You may also find it helpful to use the new user tutorial. 331dot (talk) 10:56, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Demands to do something "right away" don't have much effect, as this is a volunteer project. It is also up to you to monitor articles you are interested in, not others to spend their valuable time telling you when things are done. The best way to see that something is done right away is to do it yourself. How can I change content's category?

I'm against the category which Korean medicine content is placed in. The word "Pseudo-medicine, Quackery, …etc" gives the feeling of incredible, distrustful. Our country's scholars are striving to shed light on the Korean Medicine. It cannot be regarded as unreal, analogous topic since it affects medicines around the world. I understand that in Western Culture, Eastern medicine is considered as an alternative medicine because there's no history on Eastern Oriental medicine. But I can't suppress my feeling when it comes to the word 'pseudo medicine'. Who did set this category name? Plz change the word of category immediately. I hope it could be done in short term, and also hope to get your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.212.229.161 (talk) 15:33, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor, please don't be offended by the category of Altenative medicine. It is by definition a broad category. Piyushsoni1993 You seem to have a common misconception about what Wikipedia is. This is not a database that merely tells about subjects, this is an encyclopedia, where article subjects must be shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability(in this case, our definition of a notable organization). Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself.
You also have what Wikipedia calls a conflict of interest, and are a paid editor. You will need to review and comply with those policies, especially the latter as it is a Wikipedia Terms of Use requirement. As you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid directly editing about your company. There are indirect ways to do so if your company truly meets the notability criteria- though not every company does, even within the same field.
If you just want to tell the world about your company, you should use social media or a company owned website. Merely telling about a company here is considered promotional, even if you are not actively selling something or soliciting customers. 331dot (talk) 22:16, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is WP:ANI appropriate here?

I've seen problematic edits from this IP ([2]) once by looking around pages randomly, then I reverted an edit to Louis Nix that said he was retired without a source. Now the IP got blocked for a month for disruptive editing, but in his contributions, he’s made changes, some correct, some not. I've seen a bizarre mix of good faith and not-so good faith edits. I looked through the English Wikipedia and found several articles with the same name, e.g. On the Border, On the border (a redirect of On the Border), On the Border (film), On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and On the Border (Armenian TV series).

Is a Disambiguation required to be create for this? If yes, how should I proceed as I have never create a Disambiguation page before. --2019OutlaweD (talk) 11:39, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
• @2019OutlaweD: After a quick look at Special:Contributions/Ltyl, I do not see clear evidence of Ltyl violating Wikipedia policies by trying to push a pro-Beijing point of view. Only complain to administrators if a conduct policy has been violated; if you are sure it has, go to WP:ANI and cite WP:DIFFs of the problematic edits. (If it is about content disagreements, you must follow all steps of dispute resolution.) Finally, be aware that your own conduct will be examined - for instance, this is a strong accusation and not particularly civil in context.
Note that I do sympathize with Hong Kongers and I understand how hard it must be to keep calm under the circumstances, as the risks you take just by writing something unpleasant toward the executive on Wikipedia are significant. You must nonetheless assume good faith from other editors, unless you have extremely convincing evidence that they are the 50 Cent Party. Incorrect information on Wikipedia - how to fix Crib Point, Victoria page?

Hello,

The Wikipedia page for the town Crib Point, Victoria in Australia is incorrect. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crib_Point,_Victoria

The "Gas Import Terminal" paragraph appears to be propaganda from the energy company AGL. The AGL Gas Import Terminal project is a proposal only - it is not a certainty. The paragraph does not detail correct information about the AGL gas project or the local communities who object to it on environmental and safety grounds.

How can this paragraph be removed please?

The town of Crib Point is more than just a proposed gas import terminal. This Wikipedia page is misleading and lacking in detail.

Any assistance to remove this paragraph is greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:5923:4900:1ED:ADA9:C4A3:8E85 (talk) 12:23, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
