Usmani
'Usmani or Osmani or Othmani or Uthmani (Arabic: عثمانی) is a large community (Biradari in Urdu), found mainly in South Asia.The word Usmani or Osmani ( one and the same thing) is a surname adopted mainly by two castes in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
The Sheikh Usmani
The Shaikh Usmani are a Urdu speaking community, and many are found among the Muhajirs of Pakistan.They are of Arab origin. The word usmani derived from Hazrat Usman Gahni (R.A)third caliph of Islam. One of the sub-continent well know personality Hazrat Maulana Shabir Ahmed Usmani (Sheikh ul Islam) belongs to this origin.they claim that they are came in india with sufi fakir hazrat khawaza moinuedin chisti . osmani also called kazi[qazi]in north india mainly in rajasthan[sikar,churu,jhunjunu,].in rajasthan osmani[kazi/qazi]are rich community.they are mainly involve in masjid watchmen[mojin], immam , care taker of kabristan, marriage registerar and young genaration are settled in arab espacily in oman.kazi are a brave and faithful caste. they are honest and sincire community.
The Turk Usmani
They claim to have Turk ancestry and are found mainly in North-West India and Pakistan.They include the descendants of Karlugh Turks who came with Taimur in 1398-1399.They live in Hazara region and Kashmir regions of Pakistan.They are Hindko speaking.The turks who came with Khilji and Slave dynasties also use "usmani" as surname.
The Osmani are found all over South Asia, and have spread across Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
