Shikohabad, despite having given many renowned leaders to the state stands testimony to the backwardness of the region and the leaders have largely remained unconcerned about the opportunities going past this fertile area(Gangitic region). It is, however, famous for its colleges and facilities for higher education. People are mostly engaged in agricultural activities and the rest either take up teaching as a job or join Indian Army / Air Force. The common thread that binds all of them together is their obsession with politics and the resultant power play.
