Hello, Mssemantics and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Valfontis (talk) 16:59, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Valfontis! Thanks for your message. I've helped professors use Wikipedia in class, but (alas!) I am not using Wikipedia for class projects.--Mssemantics (talk) 19:22, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes sorry, forgive me for templating you! I was trying to track down a bunch of students from the University of Washington and make sure they all got welcomed. I had to block some of their group accounts so I wanted to make sure everyone knew where to go for help! Several of them signed up with WikiProject Feminism during the same time frame you did. Happy editing! Valfontis (talk) 19:59, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Valfontis! I appreciate your efforts to welcome the students. (I'm at UW, too.) They may be students I spoke to during a guest lecture. I actually just stopped into their class to see their final projects and to share your advice. :) --Mssemantics (talk) 20:34, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Wikimania 2014
Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller and video producer for the Wikimedia Foundation. I'll be looking to capture stories about Wikimedians at Wikimania in London in a week. Here is an example of the kind of thing that I'm aiming to do. I saw that you're attending Wikimania and I was wondering if you might have some time to talk about what do you on Wikimedia projects. Anyway let me know if you are interested, I'll be at Wikimania from the 6th-10th of August and would need maybe 30 minutes of your time. I can answer any questions you may have. I’m best reached at vgrigas(at)wikimedia.org
Thanks!

Test Kaffeeklatsch area for women-only
Since WikiProject Women as proposed at the IdeaLab may take some time to realize, and based on a discussion on the proposal's talk page, I have started a test Kaffeeklatsch area for women only (cisgender or trans-woman, regardless of sexual orientation).
It is a place where women can go and be sure they'll be able to participate in discussions without being dominated by men's advice, criticism, and explanations. If interested, your participation would be most welcome. Lightbreather (talk) 23:14, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you so much for coming in I was very glad we had this lecture because I feel like their are to many assumptions about Wiki that need to be explored. I found it helpful knowing that when people edit pages on wikipedia not everything flies they are heavily monitored to make sure accurate knowledge is being exported on the website. They are looking for articles and information that is verifiable,notable, and has a neutral point of view. Great information on the demographics of Wiki. -AU

Hi there, thank you so much for coming to class and presenting. One question I had was how much of your schooling or what parts of it have you applied to wikipedia? I learned that anyone can edit and that someone can filter through and figure out if the content is true.
Thanks,

Thank You!
Thanks for hosting this workshop, I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was really helpful. I personally was not aware of the gender gap in this online space, and I found this information to be shockingly similar to the history of music critique. It's an issue which simply needs to command more attention, especially in a year like 2015.
Thanks again!

Hi Amanda, I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time today to talk to our class about Wikipedia! Thank you again!
