Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you recently removed some content from The Voice (U.S. season 8)  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 20:49, 18 March 2015 (UTC) [reply]

Speedy deletion of Linda Nishio

I replied in the area to contest speedy deletions. If you have further questions let me know.--A21sauce (talk) 22:46, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I replied, then another editor deleted anyway. The sexism on Wikipedia is really embarrassing. Why does someone like Ted Lawson, whose been mentioned on Huffington Post, a sensationalistic news blog that started in this century, get an entry but not Linda Nishio, who's mentioned here and in an important art book like Mixed Blessings by Lucy Lippard from 1999? No wonder women stay the hell away from Wikipedia. It's disgraceful.--A21sauce (talk) 18:03, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Empire (2015 TV series), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Charles Hamilton and Anthony Hamilton. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Potential admin

Hi, I notice you're on Wikipedia:List of administrator hopefuls. Wikipedia would benefit from more admins. If you have been editing for more than 12 months (preferably 24+ months), and have been editing fairly consistently for the past 6 months (preferably 12+ months) with at least 100 edits a month (this tool will help) - or an explanation for any gaps, and haven't been blocked in the past three years - or a good explanation for a recent block, don't have a recent history of edit warring or arguing with other editors, feel you can explain why you wish to be an admin, can demonstrate some understanding of Wikipedia's procedures and processes, or know where to go for guidance, and are confident enough to go through a RfA, please get in touch with me. We can talk about it some more, and if all looks OK, I'll nominate you. SilkTork ✔Tea time 01:59, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for noticing my edits and work, but at this time I'd like to wait about another 6 months before so that I can fully understand more of the tools that admins use. Eventually I do think I will fit an administrator position, but for now I'd like to wait a couple more months. Thanks for the opportunity :) Arcticgriffin (talk) 13:28, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Let me know when you think you are ready and we can talk about it some more. I haven't yet looked into your contributions to see what areas you need to concentrate on - I can do that as and when you feel you have the time to look more closely into the issue. In the meantime, taking an article or two to GA or even FA status is helpful; as is doing maintenance work on clearing backlogs, assisting in dispute resolution, getting involved in and/or closing AfDs and RfCs, and in welcoming new users and in assisting at the help desk. You don't need to be doing all or any of these things, but looking into them would be useful to you and to Wikipedia, even if you decided not to become an admin. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:10, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Signpost exit poll

Dear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates?

If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election.

All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian

The questionnaire

Dear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.

Once you have completed the email-based exit poll answers, click here to notify the Signpost column-editor, leave a short usertalk note specifying the *time* you sent the email, and click save. The point of leaving the usertalk note, is to make sure your answers are processed and published (not stuck in the spam-folder).

Processing of responses will be performed in batches of ten, prior to publication in the Signpost. GamerPro64 will be processing the email-based answers, and will strive to maintain the privacy of your answers (as well as your email address and the associated IP address typically found in the email-headers), though of course as a volunteer effort, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will have a system free from computer virii, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will resist hypothetical bribes offered by the KGB/NSA/MI6 to reveal your secrets, and we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will make no mistakes. Proposed deletion of List of MasterChef Junior episodes

The article List of MasterChef Junior episodes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnecessary list, with episode descriptions full of fluff and excess in violation of WP:TVPLOT, much-trimmed episode summaries are in their respective season links. WP:TNT applies.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Non-free rationale for File:ANWLOGO8.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ANWLOGO8.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Mariah Carey live performances, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). This was not an appropriate edit. MOS:BOLDTITLE is clear about how lead sentences in articles are formatted and is applied consistently across Wikipedia. The correct action upon discovering an article that is not compliant is not to leave it so it looks like its related articles, it is to fix the related articles so that they comply with the MOS. This is regardless of what part of the MOS that articles do not comply with. The old saying "two wrongs don't make a right" applies. Your assertion that "All other seasons have bold titles and other series' seasons have them too" was not accurate. The American Idol season articles were all inconsistently formatted and if you actually check other series' season articles, you'll find that most comply with the MOS. While there are some that do not, when we find them the correct action is to fix them. --AussieLegend () 23:19, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • sixteenth season isn't the widely accepted name of the article subject? I did actually take a look at all the past American Idol season articles and the only ones incorrectly formatted were those written The eighth season of American Idol.... The formal title American Idol XIII is correct per MOS:BOLDSYN but so is the thirteenth season because it's the widely accepted name. And yes other series' season's do the same thing. I understand not all series' seasons have bold titles but all of The X Factor UK 's 13 series articles, The Voice 's 13 season articles, Dancing with the Stars 's 25 season articles, and Empire 's 4 season articles have bold article titles in the lead sentence and have for many years. I'm not looking to argue and my intention is never to start a fight but just if you could point out where it says in MOS:BOLDTITLE that says those season numbers cannot be bold I would appreciate it. If I am wrong I will totally support it but I just want some clarification. Thanks. Heartfox (talk) 00:20, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Did you actually read MOS:BOLDTITLE and understand what it means by "article title"? It says, quite clearly, "If an article's title is a formal or widely accepted name for the subject, display it in bold as early as possible in the first sentence". The lead sentence is bolded depending on the article's title which is American Idol (season 16). "(season 16)" doesn't appear in the lead so there is no bolding (we don't bold only parts of the title). "sixteenth season" does not appear in the article title so there is no bolding. If the article title was "Sixteenth season of American Idol", which it is not, then it would be bolded. The examples that you have provided are all, at least the articles that I checked, incorrectly formatted and should be fixed so that they comply with MOS:BOLDTITLE. MOS:BOLDAVOID gives examples of correct and incorrect bolding. I'm afraid your reading of MOS:BOLDSYN is incorrect. It says "Only the first occurrence of the title and significant alternative titles (which should usually also redirect to the article) are placed in bold:" Again "sixteenth season of American Idol" is not the article's title so that's not bolded. However, "The eighth season of American Idol, also known as American Idol XIII" would be correct. --AussieLegend () 16:25, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
