Hello the title name is misleading. Metropolitan areas typically refer to areas of contiguous urban development which usually contain a dominant city (but in some cases several) and smaller towns which share a spatial relationaship. The articles appears to list city's not metropolitan areas. The latter are typically much smaller.

Hello, Legacypac If you feel Draft:V. P. Balagangadharan is good to go, can I go ahead an publish the same? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scenecontra (talkcontribs) 06:40, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You can remove that. It is just for the draft stage. Legacypac (talk) 17:04, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Legacypac, I don't see an option to publish the article. I removed the tag and it's still in Draft. :| Help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scenecontra (talkcontribs) 04:18, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Legacypac -- found out. Moved to Article. Thanks a ton. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scenecontra (talkcontribs) 04:33, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Legacypac, I submitted a revised version of the page with updated references from a number of reputable sources. I was told there might be a two month delay or so, but it's been longer than that at this point and was wondering if we could move ahead with the review process soon. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jukely (talkcontribs) 17:35, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Legacypac -- I just want you to re-check the above mentioned article along with its references. The last submission was declined for notability and I think she is a well notable activist. Three of the references put her name in the headline. If you put her name in a google search, tens of results will show her news, TED talk and her Arabic Wikipedia article page. --Mohammed.Almussaabi (talk) 18:54, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

You deleted my page for Julie Carlson, noting that you didn't think the citations showed notability. However, there are several full-length profiles of Ms. Carlson cited throughout the page. Could you please let me know how I can improve the page to show you the notability, and re-submit?

Thanks so much for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosied28 (talkcontribs) 00:05, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you rejected my article on the British band coldharbourstores. I based my article on a similar size British group, whose notability is also similar: Epic 45 - who do have a wikipedia page, which if anything has less notability. The sources for that band are almost identical. Why are the author for the Epic 45 page's sources and notability acceptable and mine for coldharbourstores are not? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Coldharbourstoresfan Coldharbourstoresfan (talk) 19:49, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

28 April 2018 submission review of the page Ben-Soussan T.D.

Skycoin page

Hi Legacypac, I wish to contest the deletion of the Skycoin page as per reasoning below.

You need to

know that checking for copy-vio is an integral part of your duty as an AFC reviewer, especially when you are accepting some stuff.See Thermogelling polymer. And, this seems to be a recurring mistake.WBGconverse 03:45, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not a normal submission. I did check that page on earwig as I check all AfC pages. I could ask why YOU failed to find the copyvio about six months ago when (presumably during NPR) you sent the same page to Draft space questioning notability? It then rotted there until another user reviewing G13 eligible pages edited it to save it from deletion. I spotted it as a blue link in a sea of red on the Stale Draft report and returned it to mainspace for wider review by knowledgable editors on a technical topic. Kindly don't criticise me for not catching something you missed 6 months earlier. Any Admin can verify the page history. Cheers Legacypac (talk) 15:45, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

question

Hey Legacypac - I was reviewing Draft:Eater.com which you had last looked at. I agree with your comments then that it would be better incorporated into the Vox Media article. Since then, however, the draft has been expanded and I'm now of the sense that it might be so long as to be undue for inclusion in the Vox article. I was going to promote it to mainspace but wanted to check with you first to get your sense/opinion. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks - Chetsford (talk) 19:30, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 10:46:40, 20 July 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by ZEQFS

Hi there. Can I get a bit of help on my first page creation? You've rejected my work saying that the content already exists. The problem is that the content exists in the wrong place (and there are several problems with that if you read the Jesse Brown page or its talk page). Aside from the very un-NPOV writing there, which I have attempted to fix, the Jesse Brown page is about the journalist who broke the Jian Gomeshi story and people in that page's talk section are complaining that Canadaland links to Jesse Brown when Canadaland and Jesse Brown are different things. Canadaland is also one of the top podcasts in the country. It would be like if This American Life redirected to a very badly written section in Ira Glass's page. That would rightly be a problem so that's what I'm trying to resolve here.

Jesse Brown =/= Canadaland and Canadaland =/= Jesse Brown. My intention was to do my best to fix the Canadaland content, get that page created, stop the Canadaland -> Jesse brown redirection and then link the Canadaland section in Jesse Brown's article to the Canadaland article I wrote.

What can I do to move forward with this? Can you help me?

ZEQFS (talk) 10:46, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Go to Canadaland and write the article. Just replace the redirect with your new content. Legacypac (talk) 00:01, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months. (Purge)

Hello Legacypac, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

June backlog drive

Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.

New technology, new rules
  • New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
  • Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
  • Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
Editathons
  • Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
The Signpost
  • The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

Hello! The page that I created for author Vijay Lakshmann was deleted a few weeks ago because it was considered an advertisement and not third party research. I have been trying to get it back but I haven't had any luck. The intention was not to promote the author but to write an unbiased page about hi m and his work that I enjoy. I have several sources as well to back up the information present in the article. I am new to wikipedia so I am still learning the rules and regulations as a content creator. Any insights you can give to help me get my page back will be much appreciated! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashleyray121 (talkcontribs) 2 August 2018 18:37 (UTC)

Nomination of List of Polish supercentenarians for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of Polish supercentenarians is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Polish supercentenarians until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

You nominated this article for deletion the first time and have yet comment in the current AFD discussion, so I wanted to make sure you knew about it as a courtesy. Newshunter12 (talk) 01:34, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Fritz Winkelstroeter

Dear Legacypac, thank you for reviewing the draft:Fritz Winkelstroeter. I will work on it. But I have a question: Originally I had made the draft under the title draft:Medhananda. Then somebody of Wikipedia changed it into draft:Fritz Winkelstroeter. But this person is known throughout the world under his spiritual name Medhananda, a disciple of Sri Aurobindo; he was a professor at the International Centre of Education at Pondicherry and a writer who has written several books about the old Egyptian psychology and many other books. His civil name Fritz Winkelstroeter is not known very much to the public, so my question is: will somebody who looks for "Medhananda" in Wikipedia find the article in Wikipedia when it is there only under Fritz Winkelstroeter? Or is it a fact that in Wikipedia spiritual names are not allowed? Thank you for your answer, GoldenerBall GoldenerBall (talk) 16:55, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Testing changes to New Pages Feed

Hi Legacypac -- I wanted to get in touch directly to ask if you could take some time to try out the evolving New Pages Feed in the Test Wiki. AfC drafts are listed there now, with more changes coming in the next weeks. We're deploying our changes to Test Wiki first so that reviewers can bring up any issues before they go into English Wikipedia. We really value your opinion, of course. -- MMiller (WMF) (talk) 16:56, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Voted for speedy deletion: Ten Millennia

Hi Legacypac -- You approved an article I wrote after it had been rejected many times for the band not being notable. There are citations that prove the band has charted in the UK charts and has received radio rotation by the BBC. I have just received a notice that an editor feels the following 'Cannot see how this passes WP:NMUSICIAN or WP:GNG. Promotional article created by a WP:SPA with a likely COI'. I really don't know what more I can do to prove that the band is notable. I'd love some advice, if possible? -- Danielle2017! 18:04, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My approval was based on meeting the criteria. Sometimes other editors don't care. Legacypac (talk) 02:39, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note

The draft versions of creation-protected pages (such as Draft:George McConnell Davison) to not need a judgement call from an administrator. If any AFC reviewer feels the page is acceptable, they can ask that the protection be lowered so that it can be accepted. Primefac (talk) 15:41, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So in fact an Admin must make a judgement call, just from another angle. Legacypac (talk) 02:37, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A request for guidance

Hi User:Legacypac, It's been a while I'm trying to fix my first ever article on WP that is declined by you, Draft:JoopeA. It's a bit embarrassing for me that I could publish two new articles in En, one in NL and one in FA which got accepted on the first try, but Draft:JoopeA might be still missing the required elements. I never thought the conflict of interest could be so deep in me.

Anyway, I wonder if you could take a look on the revised article and advise me on how I could improve it? This would be great help to my progress even if the feedback is not good :)

Thank you in advance, Raham 08:20, 2 September 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by RahamRaf (talkcontribs)

I've cleaned out some of the advertising verbiage for Draft:Senait Fisseha and redid the reference sources. If the author is able to find another GNG source, would that be good enough to pass the article? Or do you still have concerns for notability? I don't see her meeting WP:NACADEMIC straight up, but her association with the WHO president is helpful as well as her position within the Buffett Foundation. NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018

Hello Legacypac, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news
As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
Other
Moving to Draft and Page Mover
  • Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
  • If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
  • Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
  • The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
  • The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.
List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

  • Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget.
  • In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions.
  • MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues.
  • User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page)
  • User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50).
  • User:Primefac/revdel.js(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you.
  • User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link.
  • User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion.
  • User:Evad37/rater.js(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

Bandesha

Hi, I have put Bandesha up for deletion. It was only recently deleted and the new version appears to be basically a copy of the notoriously unreliable open wiki at jatland.com. I left a note on the talk page. You may wish to have a word with the creator since you approved the move from AfC. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 09:21, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I searched for dups and it looks referenced to two good sources. Don't know the history of the page. Legacypac (talk) 09:55, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It was a straight copy from jatland.com. No idea why the search didn't pick it up. British Raj era sources are not reliable for caste etc. It's gone now. - Sitush (talk) 10:42, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Of course not as to caste. The British were trying to establish any seemingly scientific basis for colonial rule of India, in addition to the actual reasons, which were of course power and money. Robert McClenon (talk) 11:55, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, It is a long-established consensus which I obtained around 10 years ago. I really do need to spend some time developing User:Sitush/CasteSources because that could act as a convenient central point of reference. - Sitush (talk) 11:58, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion contested: Easy Transfer

Hello Legacypac. I just wanted to let you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Easy Transfer, a page you tagged for speedy deletion for the following concern: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. I believe that while the article talks about the company, it is not intentionally promoting the company's services. All statements are from cited sources and media. If you think there is anything promotional, feel free to make edits instead of marking a deletion on a research article that I spent a lot of time editing. Thank you. --Peon ruler (talk) 20:49, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You will need to take it up with the admin who deleted it User:DGG Legacypac (talk) 21:01, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, very confused why there would be a contest function if the admin would just delete the article straight away without responding. :( --Peon ruler (talk) 02:54, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you contest before deletion they will consider. If after, they may restore. I don't think the page has much hope, which is why I tagged it for deletion. Legacypac (talk) 03:30, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

After reading your comments there, I must say I think you haven't read what Robert McClenon wrote. The draft also reads, "Thank you for your submission, but the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Supergirl (season 2) instead", but Supergirl (season 2) is a redirect at the moment. I am not going to perform a cut-and-paste move, because as per Mr. McClenon's suggestions, I should instead go for a consensus. But achieving that seems as easy as finding Bigfoot. Matt14451 showed his support for the draft entering the mainspace, as did AussieLegend over here. Sadly, Brojam and AlexTheWhovian opposed because, as of 21 September, they felt the draft wasn't comprehensive enough. Even though I have substantially expanded the draft since, they are yet to give their view on the revamped draft. Shall I click resubmit anyway? Because the draft has greatly been expanded since the last submission, and I'm sure the AfC reviewer will have a different opinion this time. --Kailash29792 (talk) 05:48, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Legacypac - User:Kailash29792 is right. You confused things by declining the season 2 and season 3 drafts on the grounds that they already exist. They do not exist except as redirects. I am sure that you are making a good-faith effort to deal with the list of drafts whose names are the same as those of articles, but I think that you misunderstood the guidelines, and, as a result, I think that you need a trout. I told the proponents of putting the season 2 list of episodes in mainspace to obtain consensus. If there had been consensus, I would have shuffled the redirect off to Buffalo and promoted the draft and then tagged the redirect for deletion. So please be sure that you aren't referring to a redirect as an article. It makes things even more confused. Robert McClenon (talk) 07:20, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I already read and agree with Robert's comments on the draft about seeking consensus. Please reread my comments about the better way to create these pages. If you want to work in Draft to build the page out, that is fine. Just copy over the desired text onto the redirect when you are ready. Seek deletion of the Draft. AfC has no role here. If an AfC reviewer copies the Draft text over the redirect we create an attribution problem. If we try to move the Draft to mainspace we have to seek deletion of the title, wiping out whatever history it has (perhaps history of how it was the source of the combined article, or that there as been previous attempts to split or whatever). If an AfC reviewer requests a redirect be deleted an Admin may well decline the request because the Draft content is already covered in the target. Further if AfC gets the Draft into mainspace we have no way to ensure the other editor does the removal of the material from the parent page - the other part of the split. It is just better if one editor does the split without involving AfC, and yes the topic is covered at the redirect target. Sorry the canned decline can't be changed which is why I tried to explain a better way to do the split. Legacypac (talk) 08:14, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So cut-and-paste moving is the way to go? Very well, once I click resubmit AfC (which is after I've gained a consensus, at least the approval of Alex and Brojam) and the new AfC reviewer accepts, I'll do such a move, then request for a history merge. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:55, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
An AfC reviewer "accept" involves moving it to mainspace. You don't need AfC, which is for new editors who can't technically create new pages or are not confident. You are not new and you don't even need to create a new page. Copy what you want to mainspace and do the split in the mother page if you feel you want to and that no one will try to reverse you. Legacypac (talk)
User:Legacypac - I am aware that you are campaigning to have AFC abolished. The fact that you don't like AFC and want it brought to an end shouldn't be a reason for giving biased advice to editors who, for the time being, are trying to use AFC. In this case there is a good reason for using AFC, which is that the split does appear to be contentious. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:04, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want AfC abolished - not sure where that idea comes from. I do favor restricting new accounts from creating any new page by broadening WP:ACREQ. How is AFC going to help if this split is contentious? AFC is not the arbitrator of which articles should or should not be split. Legacypac (talk) 17:15, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
User:Legacypac - If you don't want new users to be able to use AFC (and I think that allowing them to use AFC is a harmless way for them to do stupid things), then what do you want it used for? I hope you don't intend it to be primarily for conflict of interest articles and autobiographies, because COI drafts are the other class of stuff that is expected to go through AFC, and that is burdensome to the reviewers, who are being pushed to write a neutral article about a company that doesn't warrant an article. Thank you for the comment you left on Big Green draft. How does one write as if "you dont care" about the topic? Is there a hard and fast rule for that? can you please provide some tips? On the Internet, no one knows when you are being sarcastic. You and I know that you and I are both being sarcastic about the clueless self-serving editors. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:28, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between the non-notable garage bands and the non-notable autobiographies is that the band articles at least are structured like Wikipedia articles and are in good syntactic and semantic English. The non-notable autobiographies aren't always even in sentences. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:28, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Buniayu Cave moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Buniayu Cave, needs to be formatted according to the Manual of Style, in particular the sections on section headings and images. You may also find it useful to consult (read: copy) a few other articles about caves that are correctly formatted, such as Sistema Ox Bel Ha, Jewel Cave National Monument, or Optymistychna Cave.

When you feel that the article is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. signed, Rosguill talk 04:32, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I approved that page from Draft under AfC. MOS is not a requirement for mainspace, it is a nice to have. Moving it back to draft where is was going to be deleted for inactivity is not how the page is going to formatted correctly User:Rosguill Legacypac (talk) 04:36, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No your profile page was deleted by an Admin as SPAM. You had not removed social media links and a solicitation for people to contact you about your music. Feel free to discuss the merits of keeping your Draft page at the deletion discussion page - discussion runs for a week. I would urge you to tell your staff not to insinuate that I, or all Wikipedia volunteers, hate Muslims or Pakistani's, as your associate has already done on the deletion discussion talkpage. Editors come from all over the world. I have many followers of the Prophet in my family and I assuredly do not hate anyone make decisions based on the religion or nationality of other editors.

Hi Dear legacy here you're wrong if you check log i had removed social media link right after your warning message then after 5 minutes the page got deleted so accept my apology on that on behalf of my team too. DJ Kamal Mustafa (talk) 09:55, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Second thing you said that my article is not notable & I'm promoting myself which is not right kindly check 2 years old wikipedia & the links :) after two years i have added 7 new magazine , newspaper & tv channel url which you have declined as well without even reason. Thier is a page of a newspaper here known as ummat newspaper kindly search my interview was there , but you have declined. I was featured in mtv chart you have declined , i was featured in ary news tv channel ( my film) which you have declined. I was featured in magazine you have declined , i have added urdupoint newspaper link which was declined. If everything is going to be declined then explain to me what is "notability". Clarification request

Hi Legacypac, I am a bit confused with your comment on this draft. Are you opposing a move? " We can't accept the without getting an admin to remove the page at the target title, so can move this page there, which is undesirable..." I am finding your statement (in context, this line specifically as well) somewhat ambiguous. If so, Supergirl (season 2) might be of interest to you as it is currently CSD'd to make way for said move (commented out now, while I get to the bottom of this). --TheSandDoctor Talk 21:56, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think I was able to figure it out. G6'd. --TheSandDoctor Talk 22:30, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I beleve the editor is going about these article splits incorrectly. The titles already exist as redirects. They should overwrite the redirects and remove the split content from the mother articles. They should not be trying to get these approved via AfC. Legacypac (talk) 23:43, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
They are going about it a little oddly, but there's nothing wrong with how they're doing it, provided they give the proper attribution. They haven't, and so I have done so and will ping the page creator so that they know for future reference. Primefac (talk) 02:09, 15 October 2018 (UTC) (talk page stalker)[reply]
@Primefac: Attribution was done with these two edits: [1] [2]. - Brojam (talk) 02:12, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ach, my bad. I tend to forget to check the edit summaries for attribution. Either way, it's on the talk page now. Thanks for setting me straight! Primefac (talk) 02:20, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Attribution is one possible issue, getting the split only half done is another. Deleting the history of the mainspace page to make way for a move from Draft is not ideal. Going through AfC is also very slow when AfC is not necessary. Legacypac (talk) 02:24, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
User:Primefac User:Legacypac User:TheSandDoctor - Well, I was the AFC reviewer, and I didn't see anything wrong with using AFC for the purpose. It was true that they were trying to game the system by telling me that one more editor amounted to a consensus to split, and that was wrong. I did think that declining the draft on the grounds that the article already existed, when it was only a redirect, was confusing things further. Legacypac - By telling them that the article already existed, when it did not, you were, in good faith, encouraging their idea that they could use G6 as a way to accept a draft, when we know that G6 isn't an acceptance method but a deletion method. Legacypac: Please don't confuse efforts to split articles by saying that a redirect is an article. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:28, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We are a little constrained by the wording of the "exists" response. The title exists but as a redirect. The topic exists at the target of the redirect. So yes it exists. Therefore I see no role for AfC in dealing with the Draft. Anyone is welcome to use Draft to work up a page split before placing it into mainspace, but AfC should not be endorsing or doing the split when that is something that can be done boldly or after seeking the agreement of other interested editors. We should be dealing with new topics not playing judge over what should or should not be split off. Legacypac (talk) 17:37, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your speedy attention to this draft. I am curious as to why you think this one falls short of the bar, please.

The sourcing here is all independent (no interviews with the subject).

It is high-level, starting with the New York Times and continuing with major French and English national news organs.

Plus, these are not passing mentions, with the exception of the George Pelecanos name-check in the Times. (The NY Post review is a paragraph within a group.)

I could understand why another recent submission of mine (Tom Pitts) warranted firmer sourcing...but here it's higher-grade. Rory1262 (talk) 18:20, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.. I submitted this draft article Draft:List of universities having BDSM clubs about 9 weeks ago. It is still pending review. Till today not even one comment has been made on it by any Wiki admin. Every other draft article of such old age has been rejected/reviewed atleast once, but my submission has simply escaped attention. Notable enough Google brings up its own profile on him. Numerous interviews due to Hacksaw Ridge. Not inclined to write up a separate page on Jr because his notability stems from his relationship to his father, and therefore he is best covered on his father's page. I notice you are way over 3RR on the page, taking out info that is already in the body of the article with a source but claiming it is unsourced. That unnecessarily annoys IP editors. You claimed unsourced, now you are relying on a suggestion on an infobox parameter, not a policy. I suggest leaving well enough alone and moving on to something more important. Did you have anything to do with getting the IP blocked for 72 hours? Legacypac (talk) 02:26, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:UAA reports on users with no edits

Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI: "Wait until the user edits. Do not report a user that hasn't edited unless they are clearly a vandal. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste our time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports.Template:Z182 Beeblebrox (talk) 19:15, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I spotted a name while dealing with one that had edited. I'll try to remember for the future. Legacypac (talk) 19:19, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

NCORP

I hope to work with you in reworking this guideline. For my current ideas on another & more radical approach to the overall problem, see my brief presentation at Wikiconference North America a few days ago, at [3] . It was your argument at the current AfD & my residual discontent with my position at other recent ones where you argued similarly, that led me to realize my current interpretation needed to be rethought; it was in connection with other discussions earlier in that meeting that led to to the recent presentation on the past Saturday. (not that what I proposed there is an immediately practical solution. ) DGG ( talk ) 05:06, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:DGG I'm thinking about this. If we strengthened WP:LISTED and referenced it in WP:NCORP would that be a good path? Legacypac (talk) 03:16, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As a start, sure, but I'm thinking a little more about trying to include multiple factors that would normally make for notability, or make for non-notability. DGG ( talk ) 02:31, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Legacypac, I am Trace Cheung,a translation student of Western Sydney University. I was asked to do the translation task in Wikipedia before the due date October 22,2018, the source text I found was "Shadow(2018年电影)" in Chinese. Here is the link: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%BD%B1_(2018%E5%B9%B4%E9%9B%BB%E5%BD%B1). At that time, no one has done the English Wikipedia page in this subject. Therefore, I decided to translate this source text into English. But I just found that someone had made the English Wikipedia page in the same subject when I was doing translation. Because the page I made was completely the translation version of that source text, is it possible for me to create another English Wikipedia page about "Shadow (2018 Film)", even though someone has done the article in the same subject? Trace Cheung (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We can only have one article on a given subject. You can merge the info or replace the current page with a better version. Thank-you for doing the translation. You don't need AfC approval to modify the existing page. Legacypac (talk) 03:14, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Queen Naija

Hi Legacypac. I saw that you moved Queen Naija (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) from draft space. Can it be moved back? The amount of work it needs seems substantial. I'm happy to go into detail if you'd like. --Ronz (talk) 16:18, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I found she passed WP:NMUSIC (charted on Billboard top 100 to start) so approved it. Yes it needs work but that will tend to happen faster in mainspace. Legacypac (talk) 17:34, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've never paid much attention to what qualifies a draft to transfer to an article. --Ronz (talk) 19:10, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
At AfC, the question is should it survive an AfD deletion discussion and not be elegible for a CSD. I agree the page was awful- but cleanup is proceeding nicely. Legacypac (talk) 19:12, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I recall a deletion criteria about an article needing a complete rewrite from better sources, but I'm not seeing it at WP:DP, so I guess we're ok. --Ronz (talk) 20:33, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:TNT is soemtimes cited in deletion discussions. Legacypac (talk) 20:42, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really get why this one is languishing in draftspace. All the other recent chairs of Council on Environmental Quality, a presidential appointement requiring Senate confirmation, appear to have articles. He was also president of the Wilderness Society, a clerk for a Supreme Court Justice during Roe v. Wade, assistant special prosecutor during Watergate, an author, a partner at MAJOR and influential law firms. I haven't really delved into much a search for sources but his marriage got 2 New York Times articles and it seems like there's plenty out there such as his role in opposing Robert Bork's Supreme Court nomination and accusing the judge of lying about his activities as Solicitor General during Watergate. Not my entry but at least it should get a hearing at AfD if it's going to be excluded IMHO. FloridaArmy (talk) 04:07, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) If you feel like it qualifies, why not mainspace it yourself? AfC is not a binding contract. ♠PMC(talk) 04:23, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
He is under an inapproproate restriction. It seems to me much of the junk gets declined quickly then the harder cases get left unaccepted forever. I find I can accept a high proportion of the very old pages - perhaps others are afraid to accept good/needs work for fear of making a mistake? Legacypac (talk) 05:34, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, shit, I didn't realize. I apologize, FloridaArmy. ♠PMC(talk) 06:25, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. Maybe redirect after you accept it pending the merge since two people.have weighed.in that they don't think he's independently notable. FloridaArmy (talk) 22:53, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

<outdent> Actually, it seems the house was his grandson's. Although building a house at 17ish seems impressive to me, but let me see what I can flesh out. Three generations of John Waterman so it gets a bit confusing.. FloridaArmy (talk) 23:34, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Legacypac, Ok I'll find more references to support my article but I'm afraid it will came just from the other websites. As the company was included in their list of accredited firm. But saddening the company has not yet been written by the other articles and news. Because the company is a third party sampler of the Department of Environmental and Natural resources in the Philippines from the pubic sector. Hence it's kinda strict for the company and the like to do so much campaigns and so on. Anyways as I said I'll try to find more references as much as I can for this article to be accepted. Thanks!(Rein Del Rosario (talk) 23:31, 28 October 2018 (UTC))[reply]

You indicated that the Rare Beer Club is indeed notable. Thank you. You also mentioned that the tone makes this similar to a promotional piece. Looking over the text again, I realize you are right. I will change the language to eliminate this. Thanks again. --Dylanexpert (talk) 02:17, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 20:53:10, 31 October 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Debraannclark

I wrote an article about a book - Survivor: The Benny Turner Story. I wrote this article with the blessing of BENNY TURNER HIMSELF and his manager, who checked and approved my content. Please tell me what needs to be done to get this page back. I did not save a draft and you arbitrarily deleted my entire work. Respond ASAP.

I've had to jump through hoops in the past to get his CD page published. Again - THIS IS WITH HIS APPROVAL.

I look forward to your response.

(talk page stalker), Debraannclark, the page was deleted as a copyright violation by the deleting admin, and for legal reasons we cannot restore the deleted text. Arvi Johannes Hurskainen

Would you mind taking another look at Arvi Johannes Hurskainen? The article contains some bold claims, but the references don't hold up at all, and a Google search is turning up nothing. I'm wondering what you saw that I'm not. Thanks. Bradv 04:31, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Problem 1 the refs were not displaying correctly. Fixed that. This page supports some of the content [4]. The "Knight First Class, The Order of the White Rose of Finland 2005." jumped out as a significant award from his government for lifetime acheivement. Legacypac (talk) 04:41, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That link is something he wrote himself, and the "Knight First Class" reference [5] doesn't even mention the subject. I can't find reliable sources for any of these claims. Bradv 04:45, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Given most refs will be in Finnish... you think it is a fraud? Happy to move it back and request better refs. Legacypac (talk) 04:57, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure it's entirely made up, as there are some scholar sources [6]. However, these are not enough to satisfy either the GNG or PROF, and most of the content is completely unsourced, so it's puffery at the very least. It should go back to draftspace if we think there's a possibility it's notable, or it needs to go to AfD for a definitive answer. Bradv 05:08, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I switched to desktop where I can translate sources. Searching the subject's name brings up numerous academic sources confirming his senior position, citing his work, tying him to Swahili and other machine translation etc. He sure seems notable, even if the provided sourcing may not be the best. I really doubt this is a hoax or exaggeration. Given he retired 12 years ago, what would be the benefit? Legacypac (talk) 05:21, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DBS Leoch

Hi,

I'm new to Wikapedia so I hope you are able to help me as the site pointed me this way. I was wondering if it would be possible to see the last submited material for DBS Leoch from back in March. I am taking over trying to creat a page but I know it was denied in the past, I want to be able to improve it but I need to know what was written and what sources where used to do so. Any help would be much appricated. Kind regards, MHughesDBS (talk) 11:49, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know if you may have any additional insight; I added more references and am wondering your thoughts on if it will be moved to the review process soon. Another editor has denied this submission and marked it as not notable seemingly prohibiting it from being resubmitted for review. Seems manifestly notable to me and one source covering it just this year says it's the oldest cemetery in New Hampshire. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to proceed. FloridaArmy (talk) 19:15, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That was a very bad decline. I've approved the page and will spot check some other declines by that reviewer. Legacypac (talk) 19:21, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The oldest in New Hampshire bit was added after the decline. But still.. And I hadn't experienced a page marked Not Notable so it can't be resubmitted before.FloridaArmy (talk) 19:22, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Even without the oldest fact added it should have been accepted. The Reject template is just an opinion and is not binding. I invented an early version of it for times when someone needs to be told firmly to stop submitting their promotional or nonsense pages. It builds a case if someone continues to push for inclusion of crap we can say we told them to stop when the page hits MfD. Legacypac (talk) 19:30, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mt Washington Fire Protection District

Legacypac, I Cannot Thank You Enough For Accepting My Article. It's The Best News Ive Heard All Day. I Also Ask You If There's Any More I Can Do To Make The Article Better.

Thanks Again, FlyingPanzer (talk) 16:26, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Try searching Google News you might find some newspaper coverage. The solid wall of department pages is offending people. If this was a Fire Department of a City, I might consider merging it with the City's page but this is a District which means it is not controlled by another entity or necessarily covers the same geography. Commenting for the accountability bit: it’s an individual admin action and those are best appealed through talk pages. It’s much easier to get unblocked there and actually have a conversation. TonyBallioni (talk) 03:00, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I tried that - was told no and to get another Admin to take a look. Admin blocking should read WP:BANEX and apply a little common sense. Legacypac (talk) 03:19, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

you please clarify as to your acceptance of Nagendranath De? Best, WBGconverse 10:08, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

He's dead and evidently fairly prominent in his field. It's all offline sources unfortionately. Oddly it was declined for not having any links to other articles, which is not a valid decline. Legacypac (talk) 15:27, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have failed to recognize of yours' accepting a G12able closely-paraphrased article.See this article which (incidentally) also rebuts your's claim about offline sources. WBGconverse 16:01, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, that article is neither any reliable for the intricate details but a stub can be fleshed out.WBGconverse 16:03, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well good find. Thanks for ambushing me on a possible missed copyvio instead of simply disclosing your find. That page did not come up in my copyvio check obviously, maybe because it is a PDF type or scanned page. Also the only time I looked at the page was in May 2018. I did not say there were no offline sources available, just none provided. Legacypac (talk) 16:11, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You do a lot of good work and let my ambush not undermine that:-) FWIW, I have been a strong proponent of accepting any borderline stuff, from pre-internet era, with a strong claim of significance and if it was not a copy-vio, I would have pretty much accepted it.WBGconverse 17:51, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Legacypac, just letting you know that the author of this short-circuited the AfC process, and "cut-and-paste" moved it to WP:Mainspace. Draft: Wuzzuf

Hi! You left a comment with the rejection of the Wuzzuf article telling me to see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Wuzzuf. I just wanted to see if you could help me, as I don't quite understand what that has to do with my article, as it isn't promotional and I did get some strong references like Forbes, TechCrunch and 500 Startups.

I would say that the article is short, but I do believe this meets Wikipedia's GNG, as it is the main focus of quite a few articles. Plus it's a big company in Egypt. If you would like that I try to expand the article, I could go ahead and do that. Maverick821 (talk) 07:29, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NCORP for guidance. In 2017 we found it did not meet notability guidelines so you have a hill to climb on this. Legacypac (talk) 07:35, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can Not Add Article For Musician Rick Brewster Due To Your Declining Content From The Band's Page

I have been drafting a page for a well know musician here in Australia under https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rick_Brewster_(musician)and now I am told on your review of the submission "Thank you for your submission, but the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at The Angels (Australian band) instead." What i don't understand is that his brother and various other members of the band are able to have their own Wikipedia pages despite being present on the page for the band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 3.14fingers (talkcontribs) 05:52, 5 November 2018 (UTC) 3.14fingers (talk) 06:08, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Generally we include profiles of band members on the band page. The exception is if the individual has a significant body of work independant of the band. That is not the case here. The existence of other pages that may be outside of policy does not matter. WP:NBAND Legacypac (talk) 06:32, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
