Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) is the first private initiated engineering institute in West Bengal, India, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT).[1] The institute also has accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE and NAAC, UGC for its departments. The institute is selected by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India for a centre of excellence in value-added Petroleum Engineering. An Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) has been set up for interaction with the industries for mutual benefit and co-operative research.The Institute has financial assistance from world bank.

The institute has an enclave campus of 49 acres of land having an administrative block of 2787 square metres with nine academic blocks having an area of around 24980 square metres and a hostel area of 24315 square metres. The hostel facility is available for both boys and girls to accommodate almost all the students. Facilities include an amenities area of 1830 square metres a library, Post Office, laundry facility, medical stores, bank with ATM facilities and restaurants. Campus-wide Internet facilities are provided through 20 Mbit/s high speed dedicated leased line (1:1) from BSNL. The institute has Central as well as Departmental Computing facilities with more than 850 computers. There are 12 B.Tech courses, and five M.Tech and MCA, MBA courses.

Affiliation

The college is approved by the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.The institute has accreditation from the National Board Of Accreditation (NBA), for departments. It is an ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004 certified institute.

The institute has financial assistance from the World Bank, through its Technical Education Quality Improvement program(TEQIP) for academic excellence. The institute is selected by the Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India, as a centre of excellence in value-added Petroleum Engineering and Petrochemicals under its Mission Reach program through TIFAC in collaboration with IOC,Haldia and HPL,Haldia.

An industry-institute Partnership Cell(UPC) has been set up for better interaction between the institute and industries for mutual benefits and co-operative research.

The Alumni Association of Haldia Institute of Technology is an association encompassing the people who have graduated from this institute.

A research centre of 1,000,000 sq ft has been inaugurated in the campus.

The HIT Times is the official campus newspaper of Haldia institute of Technology.

IEEE HIT Student Branch

Haldia Institute of Technology has one of the most prominent IEEE Students' Branch in Eastern India. Established in the year of 2008 under IEEE Kharagpur Section, IEEE HIT SB[2] organizes various technical events related to all the major technological spheres. The events includes workshops, seminars, competition, guest lectures etc. The topic mostly covered with these events are internship, MATLAB, PSPICE, Robotics, Quadcopter, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Photoshop, PLC, Bridge Design, Catia, Autocad, Circuit Design etc. and last but not the least Industrial Tour. he bleak future and makes the society dream of a world of green. e student participation and provide a platform to hone their management skills.
