Template:Geobox Hollowayville is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 84 at the 2010 census.[1] It is part of the OttawaStreator Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Hollowayville is located at 41°21′54″N 89°17′41″W / 41.36500°N 89.29472°W / 41.36500; -89.29472 (41.364952, -89.294625).[2]

According to the 2010 census, Hollowayville has a total area of 0.05 square miles (0.13 km2), all land.[3]

As of the census[6] of 2010, there were 84 people, 26 households, and 24 families residing in the village. The population density was 1680 people per square mile (649/km²). There were 25 housing units at an average density of 500 per square mile (192.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 92.9% White, 3.6% Black, and 3.6% Some Other Race. 1.2% of the village was Hispanic or Latino, specifically Puerto Rican.

There were 26 households out of which 38.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 84.6% were married couples living together, 3.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.8% had a male householder with no wife present and 7.7% were non-families. The average household size was 3.23 and the average family size was 3.29.

In the village the population was spread out with 4.8% under the age of 5, 8.3% between the ages of 5 and 9, 9.5% between the ages of 10 and 14, 4.8% between the ages of 15 and 19, 6.0% between the ages of 20 and 24, 7.1% between the ages of 25 and 29, 4.8% between the ages of 30 and 34, 10.7% between the ages of 35 and 39, 7.1% between the ages of 40 and 44, 6.0% between the ages of 45 and 49, 9.5% between the ages of 50 and 54, 3.6% between the ages of 55 and 59, 9.5% between the ages of 60 and 64, 2.4% between the ages of 65 and 69, 3.6% between the ages of 70 and 74, 1.2% between the ages of 75 and 79, no one between the ages of 80 and 84, and 1.2% 85 years and older. The median age was 37.7 years. For every 100 females there were 127.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $73,125. None of the population and none of the families were below the poverty line.

Hollowayville is one of the oldest villages in Bureau County. It was the former site of a coal mine Hollowayville boasts one of the state's lowest sales tax rates. Today the sole business is "Hollywood and Vine," the swingingest tavern in the county. Of local note is "The Stairway to Nowhere." a modern-day Tower of Babel erected on private property overlooking the goings on at the tavern across the street and Leon's marauding cows.
