Katy Mills is an outlet shopping mall in Katy, Texas, within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area, developed by The Mills Corporation and now managed by Simon Property Group, who owns 62.5% of it. The mall opened on October 28, 1999[2] and hosts a variety of over 200 specialty stores. Katy Mills has about 1.3 million square feet (0.12 km²) of retail space.
Shopping center
Katy Mills is a one-story facility that sits on 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2) of land, located just off Interstate 10 exit 741. The mall is built with a "racetrack" design and one complete pass around the mall on Katy Mills Cir. road is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km).
Popular stores include H&M, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, Books-A-Million, Kate Spade New York and Polo Ralph Lauren Company Store; some of which relocated from Sealy Outlet Center, which was supplanted by Katy Mills due to its distance from nearby Sealy. Its "Katy Field Day" food court has Burger King, a carousel, and a rock climbing wall. Outside, various restaurants such as Red Lobster, Fuddruckers, T.G.I. Friday's, and Los Cucos surround the mall.
Originally, the mall featured a Jillian's restaurant and entertainment center. It closed in 2004[3] and became Steve & Barry's, which closed in 2008 and its now Segway Outback. It also featured a Circuit City prototype called "The City", which opened and closed in 2008 and it is now Ross Dress For Less.[4]
The entire shopping mall is located within Fort Bend County, Texas, although a future anchor space and a small portion of the parking lot is located in neighboring Harris County.[5]
