Konsole is a free and open-source terminal emulator which is part of KDE Applications. Konsole was originally written by Lars Doelle.[citation needed]

KDE applications, such as Konqueror, Krusader, Kate,[1] Konversation, Dolphin and KDevelop use Konsole to provide embedded terminal functionality via Kpart.

As of July 2014, Yakuake, Konsole, Dolphin, Kate and KDE Telepathy, among others,[which?] are in the process of being ported to KDE Frameworks 5.[2]
