Rescue Squad Mater is a 2008 Pixar computer animated short film directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Rob Gibbs and Victor Navone. It is the first short in the Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales series. The short features characters from the Cars films and takes place after the events of Cars. It was first released on Toon Disney on October 27, 2008, and was included in the home release of the Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales disc compilation.
Mater tells a story to Lightning McQueen about once being a fire rescue truck. Mater had to rescue McQueen from a burning building, and then had to operate on him as a doctor when he was sent to the hospital via ambulance.
